The Republican plan is to make business WANT to invest in industry and build new plants. You know, like the countries that are stealing our jobs because THEY know what business wants. Reasonable taxes, reasonable regulations, Reasonable labor rates. Of course commrade Obama never ran a lemonaide stand so he doesn't have a clue. Standard Democrat answer, "throw money at it! yeah, that will fix it!" Geez, I wonder what happened to greece? Union workers have to grow up too. When I buy a stock and it goes down, I lose. Clinton was just economically saavy enough to go against his base and sign it. Canada and Mexico are our biggest markets, and their economies (especially Mexico's) revolve around ours. Productivity per dollar, not wages, are the determinate factor in the hiring decision. U.S. workers have the advantage of a much greater infrastructure. Where the jobs are going depends on the industry. Some here, some elsewhere. My portfolio is fine, thanks. In fact, I bought more stock all through the downturn. I'll start turning it into bonds as the market rises sometime over the next decade. *I do have my own business. Three of them, if you count free lancing. Thanks. I'm happy with what I have. I also do a fair amount of consulting still, helping others to turn their ideas into viable businesses in today's market.

FR Reagan is why we have the debt crisis. His love of deregulation is why we had the financial meltdown. Bring the sheriffs back to Wall Street. There are right to work states where the unions have no clout. The industry they attract seems to be more from foreign investors than domestic ones. For America to look appealing to some American investors would require the abolishment of the minimum wage and all child labor laws with the added Triangle Shirtwaist Factory incenitives of nailed doors and a slop bucket in the corner. The kind of industry we need in the US can't be done by a illiterate 8 year old. I don't know if Comrade Obama ever had a lemonstand or not but if Prince Willard ever had one his Daddy bought it for him and paid people to frequent it so little Prince could make believe he was an entrepreneur. Like he make believes he's one as a grown up.

Considering the debt spiral we are in and the dire eventuality that we are being steered toward, when we go teats up bankrupt even those most in need will have to go without government help Just like Greece Would you cut off your own nose to spite your face? Shouldn't we slash spending in order to preserve the union?

That's bad. The U.S., with a $15+ trillion economy, has a 1 to 1 debt to GDP ratio. Not great. Not a crisis. In the 1940s, it was 110% of GDP. We didn't implode. This is what, or third "recovery summer" full of bad economic news? Where are the pro growth ideas that don't involve even more smothering debt. If government spending really meant more growth we had ought to be in economic heaven, not blowing smoke rings
