Why do kneelers kneel?
Because they and their partners get off
on it.
You and yours don't?
Then don't do it.
But don't assume you possess more self
worth than people who do it or that your
relationship is any healthier and shinier
because you don't.

And it would be super special if people
didn't put their baggage/feelings about
humiliation onto others relationships.
Humiation for people who are into it is not
humiliating in the way it is for people
who aren't into it.

You replied to yourself so I don't know to whom this was actually addressed.

I was objecting to what seemed to be a blanket statement that submission revolves around humiliation and kneeling by pointing out that it doesn't in my case.

The many non-kneelers on this thread all used I-statements - I don't know how you got the projection onto other relationships that you are seeing.

Winterapple -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:11:30 AM)

I wasn't replying to anyone specifically, Kali.
It was just a general thought about how people
can perceive and react to humiliation differently.

Oh and yes, paragraphs please. Oh and punctuation is your friend. I wanted to put "too long; didn't read" under her post. lol

I didn't think they were too long. I just thought they were incomprehensible.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:16:45 AM)

I just skimmed right on by the posts, someone LMK if there's an executive summary.

I cannot get past the CastleRealm associations with the phrase, it just can't be done.

If someone gives himself to me, that's beyond a gift, anyway, that's a treasure, or a miracle. Something deserving of a much bigger word.

CalifChick -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:20:11 AM)

Am I the only one that prefers to point and laugh at the "gift of submission" people?

I can just see it going like this: Okay, Master, I'm going to gift you with my submission, my blowjobs, my affection, my cooking, and my awesome ability to double-clutch an old el camino and make it slide thru the turns. HOWEVER, I am keeping the gifts of rimming, love, and undying devotion for now. We'll wait until Christmas and see how it goes then.

Some people see talents as gifts from God (such as an awesome musician or a great singer), other than that, I don't see behaviors as gifts. That's a bit too far on the pretentious side.

And why are bad attitude, brattiness, and menopausal bitchiness not gifts? I've got fuckin' TRUCKLOADS of them!

No, that would be most people.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:23:04 AM)

And now you see why Cali is my sister. Though I do not laugh, not as such. There is some appalled pearl clutching,

Eh? I thought 'gift' covered the giving of something as big as a 'treasure'. But, then, I'm one of those people who still uses the word 'oral' as opposed to 'written', rather than 'verbal' to denote something that's said face-to-face rather than written in letters or emails. I never got uptight about 'oral' implying only 'oral sex' to the kids at the back of the classroom.

OK: shall we call the giving of things as big as treasures 'giftitudinousness'? [:)]

ETA - *Sigh*. I suppose I shall have to look up 'CastleRealm', whatever the eff that is.

What about 'treasurement' as a gift of something really big?

Giftitationment.

Treasurygiftithon.

Help me out!

Indeed.

Yeah, it's the CastleRealm thing that just gags me straight away and I can't get past it. It just seems too precious for me to want to use the phrase. When it comes up I picture all of those hearts and flowers, cutsey, fluttery, faux-serious, writings posted by princess types and that kills it for me.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:35:56 AM)

The really sad thing is that I am a deeply romantic princess kind of person! I should just love that kind of flowery language and I don't, even though I agree with the sentiment.

No, I think it was as long as thirty minutes ago, Greedy. [;)]

myotherself -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:39:14 AM)

I now have to go see what this Castle Realm stuff is.

I have a feeling that I'm not going to like it.

I hate you all.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:41:22 AM)

Is that site still up? What a horrible thought. Though imagine the hits it would get with the FiftyShades crowd!

I am an unapologetic snob.

myotherself -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:42:51 AM)

I found an archived version of it.

They used the phrase 'true submissive'.

I HATE YOU ALL!!

PeonForHer -> RE: The dreaded "Gift of Submission" debacle (8/21/2012 11:43:41 AM)

FR

Gawd. It isn't just the 'CastleRealm', whatever that is, is it? There's a ton of horsecrap involved here that I don't think I've ever really had in my life, but which others apparently have. Whew!
