ORIGINAL: TNDommeK Also I think that if someone walks into the intro section demanding us to bow down ..she is fair game to the snarkfest. Sorry, no. Think about this... if someone demands everyone bow down, and no one does, but instead says "welcome to the forums", do you think they're getting what they want? Actually yes, in a sense, because giving a welcome implies kowtowing. And saying nothing but a welcome implies that particular twat's commentary is acceptable. JMHO. A greeting can be courteous without endorsing anything. I hate half the poorly-thought drivel that is sadly commonplace in that whole section; but if I don't know the person well enough to do anything more than think they are dumb, I can still offer a hello. Sometimes people can be turned around with the right approach (not everyone, but then that's no excuse to throw everyone under the bus, either). Yes, I realize "a greeting can be courteous without endorsing anything", but it's the perception of the reader. It is definitely possible for the OP to view kindly responses as believing said responses are a form of acceptance. When it's obvious they are just here to pick the pockets of horny men and other gullible types, then they are not here for sincere reasons and doubtful they could ever be "turned around". Nothing says we HAVE to welcome them at all. Just don't respond to them. What do we tell all the newbie girls who are asking about their flooded mailbox? Block them. I know I got caught in this trap yesterday. I wasn't feeling well, tired of the BDSM is for rich folk bs, and got a little snarky in a welcome to a suspicious user. Chi caught me and lightly slapped my hand. Didn't even get a gold border [:(] It goes back to what I started with. Just because someone starts an intro thread, doesn't mean we have to respond.
