Some that I like:

This meme seems to be sticking in certain Democrats craw. At their convention, Politico reports:
quote:

AFSCME President Lee Saunders, capping off a fiery speech to the Wisconsin delegation Monday morning, held a conversation with an invisible Eastwood.

An empty chair had been brought on stage before Saunders started speaking, but he ignored it for most of his speech.

“I don’t know if you noticed, but you see this chair? I don’t know if you noticed that he actually walked in with me. He’s invisible, he’s sitting right here. He’s been listening to everything I had to say,” Saunders said. “So I want you to welcome Clint Eastwood.”

“I’ve got a couple of questions. I’ve got a couple of questions I want to ask Clint Eastwood,” Saunders continued as dozens of attendees cracked up. “But first, buddy, what do you have to say for yourself? I didn’t hear you.”

“Clint’s been sitting here for the past hour. He doesn’t have anything to say for himself. Mitt Romney has nothing to say for himself. Paul Ryan has nothing to say for himself,” he said. “We’ve got to make our voices heard. We’ve got to speak loud and clear. If we do that, we will win in November.”

“Dirty Harry, Dirty Harry, make my day,” Saunders yelled, knocking the empty chair off of the stage.

As the applause died down, Mike Tate, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair, took the stage. Pausing for a moment as he took the podium, he grinned and said, “And it’s just Monday, we’ll be here all week.”

Doesn't sound real funny, and I think the common hardcore Democratic statist hatred for dissent came across pretty plainly, especially with him kicking the chair off the stage.

Anyone else find a photo for "Empty Chair Day" that they like?

Gotta love a bad photoshop job.

Actually, its not... but I will let my first statement stand because I have seen it photo shopped into other pictures.

rob, that chair does have a significant meaning....

This really just cheapens it.

No,actually he doesn't,as a matter of fact he has brought back the gravitas to the Office that the previous occupant has squandered.
But since you brought it up allow me to tell you what cheapens the Office....birthers cheapen the Office, those putting forth this idea of President Obama as some sort of "other" cheapen the Office and idiots who can not bring themselves to refer to this man by his tittle (yeah, that means you) cheapen the Office !

I may not like Mr George W. Bush, but I've NEVER referred to him like I was still living like a 6th grader in middle school (or junior high if you prefer). I often find....MANY....conservatives on this and other spots around the internet and real life, that try to insult the current President with petty and often offensive name calling. THAT, CHEAPENS the seat! And yes, Rob has done that on....MANY....moments in the past. Not to mention the grand majority of other conservatived minded posters.

Prove it, show me one post where I called the President anything other than his name.

Joe, this one's for you.

slvemike4u -> RE: Labor Day has been cancelled ... (9/4/2012 2:23:50 AM)

His name, for the length of his term is "Mr.President"(when addressing him directly)....or "President Obama"(when referring to him)
Still want to offer that challenge ?

There is no insult when referring to the President in general conversation and discussion, in several other ways as well. Using their last names is completely accepted i.e. Bush, Obama, Reagan, Clinton.

Oh, btw, did you ever make this defense of the President-naming, when Bush was in office, mike?

An update on the union speaker:

quote:

"Mitt Romney doesn't have anything to say," Saunders continued. "Paul Ryan doesn't have anything to say."

Suddenly, the tone changed: Saunders, finishing his speech, began to kick the chair, threw it, and yelled "Dirty Harry, make my day! We're gonna kick ass in November!"

The crowd was cheering, and the humor had gained a palpable edge.

If this characterization of his actions is more accurate, then I found this type of behavior simply thuggish and bullying.

And all too common among some members of our current political classes.

Thanks Michael,

Just stopping by occasionally. Life is pretty busy for us right now, and I don't have much energy to spare on a lot of the stuff that goes on here.

I just noticed that no one had mentioned Empty Chair Day, and it was a pretty effective - and humorous - meme that should be mentioned.
