I don't think it's a bad question to ask, and I think answers could very well be different for a D/s relationship compared to a relationship of any type. Of course, someone we care about is more attractive to us, and someone we don't like is less so. But specifically D/s related...sure, I think there could be reasons.

Though I'm not a dominant myself, I know from talking with some that a submissive in the nude is that submissive being exposed - and not just physically. I do think that the dominant mind - specifically that of someone who has a relationship with the submissive - is, indeed, looking for flaws and imperfections, because those are now his imperfections as well. That doesn't mean he's casting a critical eye. Just an inquisitive one - to be knowledgeable about the body that is given to him. Perhaps someone can correct me if I'm way off base. I can't speak for him but being this is something I was insecure with before my liposuction, I would try to wear at least a robe to hide myself because I hated my shape. But he does like me nude and when I start being insecure again, he says something along the lines that he likes my body and being his slave, I have no right to be insecure about his property. I don't particularly care for men. I'm able to appreciate an athletic male form in an artistic sense, however it is not something I generally examine.
Women on the other hand, I can appreciate regardless of shape or size, age (adults) or color. And I appreciate them, because I see a canvas, with which to paint a story of agony and ecstasy, it lacks only my stroke. There is a strength there, often unspoken, of the female form. And that, I find very appealing.

I see scars. I'm not above it. At the same time, I do not see them as imperfections, or undesirable traits. I myself have several scars. I'm told quite often they are sexy. If you mean the first time (or 2, or 3) well yes, I look at her naked form but not so much to see a naked female (I'm old - been there; done that) but to gauge her reaction about what's happening. And yes, the sadist in me is hoping to see her a little shy and embarrassed etc. Hell, maybe even squirm a little or even motion to cover her modesty in some way so I can be the big bad Dom of discipline etc. By now, I'm mostly looking into her eyes - way, waaaaay into her eyes....

"Imperfections" are a matter of persepective but if she's got body piercings, they'll need to go. But she'll know this before her first time naked, anyway. Scars etc are just life - that some things I just have to accept. Other than that, her being my property means I won't have her being self-conscious about her body. If it's a few too many pounds, I'll make her lose it - because it's *my* body she's wearing.
