Like I said, he's talking about Democrat registered voters, or about 47% of the Democrat registered electorate.

Now according to Gallup 31% of Americans identified as Democrats. Now we subtract 47% from the 31% that registered Democrat and that leaves about 14.5% of the Democrat electorate.

Again, what is the problem here? Is your argument that there really aren't 14.5% Americans on government assistance? Or is your side having a hissy fit because Romney told the truth, and your side doesn't like the truth?

It was blessedly ironic. Considering that the majority of those non-taxpaying individuals are residents of red states, he's insulting a huge portion of his own voter base and they're either too stupid to realize it or too numb to care.

What does that mean, "His adherents are alas the very useful idiots they decry"? Does that mean we who would vote for Mitt are "useful idiots"? I'm not sure where you think you have the right to say this about fellow citizens.

Now, I read the quote. Romney is correct. 47 percent of those voting for Obama pay no taxes and will vote for anyone who gives them a free ride and Mitt is correct in not worrying about them (as far as trying to get their vote) because they indeed vote for whomever will give them a free ride and Mitt will not. As neither would President Clinton when he was in office.

So what. Now if you wish to make yourself feel better about the unfortunate Obama presidency by spinning Mitt's comments and trying to attack a very great man then do so because those who are not in the 47 percent of those who might vote for Obama and those who would not vote to extend more of the last four years simply are amused at your rants and those of the "mainstream" press.

However, it is amusing. The more rants by his supporters then the less likely Obama will be re-elected. That is due to the inverse rant rule: "the more they rant the more desperate they are", and the ranting is reaching record levels. This reminds me of when the great Ronald Reagan was running for president against Carter. Rant on you 47 percenters.

Four years ago the entire financial sector was imploding. The auto industry was in a death spiral. Layoffs were occuring at a pace never seen in the US. So much wealth had disappeared that we were entering at least a year long deflationary period.

So yes we are unequivocably better off now than we were 4 years ago.
