Mitt Romney’s infamous “47 percent” remarks from a May fundraising dinner were not a crisis, Stephen Colbert insisted Tuesday, but a triumph — finally, he said, a presidential candidate was willing to say there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

“Lunch is $50,000 a plate,” Colbert said.

The video, circulated by Mother Jones on Monday, showed Romney, the Republican nominee for the presidency, denounce 47 percent of American voters as “people who pay no income tax.” Subsequent analyses have pointed out that this group, that Romney “who believe that they are victims,” included the elderly, the working poor, and U.S. military personnel.

“See? Romney mentioned the troops in a speech,” Colbert pointed out before leading the crowd in applause.

In an effort to assist the former Massachusetts governor, Colbert then donned a top hat and tails to deliver the much-criticized remarks with more panache.

“As you know, we are all gathered here this evening because I have agreed to accept the presidency,” Colbert said, affecting a posh tone. “But unfortunately, almost half — two score and seven percent — will vote for my opponent, that socialist hottentot!”

...and if anyone thinks the position that America is falling is extreme then I only need to remind you that we had many of our best deplomatic staff horribly murdered last week and the Ambassador sodomized before being beaten and killed. A father and husband.

This is just the beginning of the fall that is underway but must be stopped. Now. Mitt sees this and is clearly focused on stopping it and he is pained and pissed about it and he was discussing ways to head off the fall including a way to keep the leaches on our country from dragging us down while the Obama administration uses them and wealth redistribution government dependency to retain power.

How could I "obviously not know"? I've known her for years and know she played the system and pretended to be sicker than she is and fortunately for her, MS is great for that since many of the physical signs can be faked by anyone determined. It is fortunate for her she no longer has to work very hard at being recertified as disabled since there are so many new disabled (since Obama came to power) that there are too many now to be correctly recertified.

What, you think I just decided to make up real examples of what Mitt was talking about? Take the blinders off, clear your preconceived notions and think. Think. Do you think the disability roles increased by 5.4 MILLION people under Obama is just a fluke? How did they get disabled? Not from a job injury. Obesity from not working? Faking?

Mitt was really talking about these people and how it must end (as Clinton sought to do when he was in office) or we as a Nation will collapse. He is right, this cannot continue no matter who gets elected. Who get elected will influence how it will end, as a Nation on it's way back to prosperity under Mitt or a total collapse with people starving and riots and something like New Orleans during Katrina with looting and violence only it happening nationwide.

That is the choice we have to make in November.

Sure, those kind of people are who he was talking about. The problem is that he said that half of all Americans are those kind of people. Senior citizens, students, working-class families with 2 incomes and 3 kids, according to Mitt Romney they're all just like those two people you know.

Let me be real careful how I phrase this....so as not to insult or attack any of my fellow posters.
Perhaps a hypothetical situation would suffice,again so that I don't insult anyone

Were someone to come along and,absent a medical degree,absent a look at my records,absent an actual extensive medical examination ....suggest that I am a leech,that I am simply gaming the system,that I am nothing more than a drain on the country.....I would tell that person to go fuck themselves.
Now let's be clear,I am not telling Arturas to go fuck himself specifically

....Just in general any asshole who is stupid enough to believe that his laymans opinion of anothers medical condition has any validity.
Any idiot who thinks their simpletons observation of another should supersede,or holds more weight than, the medical examinations I,for one, went thru,the expert medical testimony offered to the administrative judge who found that I was indeed disabled and as such ENTITLED to receive the Social Security benefits due me based on my contributions to the program during my working years.
Now in my case that comes to a little more than 1,900 dollars a month.This is over and above my workers comp judgement,which is paid by an insurance company that administers New York states WC program( and which I have no need to address in this thread).
At the time I was hurt I was working two jobs and paying taxes...so that lazy leech bullshit is just that....bullshit.
So now I get to live on about 32,000 a year,I get to take a pain regimen of narcotic drugs 24/7 365 days a year...I get to wake up every morning and take a physical inventory of just how bad a day it will be.
But I'm thickheaded,at 53 I don't want to be in a rocking chair....so once in awhile I go off and play a round of real shitty golf....than go home and suffer for having done so.....while I wonder how much closer that round of golf brought me to the walker that is in my future.
Now some would suggest if I can play that golf why cant I get some sort of job....well let's see,due to the insurance company dragging their feet ,I wasn't done having surgeries till three years after my accident(7 surgical procedures in all),due to the insurance companies short sighted medical decisions my physical therapy was cut short too soon(by the time a judge reversed that decision fusion had occurred,my neurosurgeon testified that this decision cost me the fuller recovery that he had hoped I would have ) so here I am,out of the job market for a number of years...with a balky back that from time to time can be counted on to leave me helpless and immobile,plus on those pesky narcotics 24/7......where exactly should I look for this job?
Who is hiring such an employee ?
If I am Un-hirable is that not in and of itself a disability?
All that aside ,let me say this,I feel no burning desire to justify myself to the likes of the above poster or to a fat bag of gas on the radio who has recently made this a focal point of his afternoon rants.
This has been my own personal rant,it was inspired by listening to Rush and reading asinine posts and it is not intended in any way to insult or attack anyone else

A denial that ,it was explained to me,is pretty much pro forma.....everyone gets denied...than you appeal it,when it's your turn.
They feel this weeds out the fakes and the gamers,whether or not it does I have no idea.What I do know is that such a system means one is best advised to hire a lawyer to take you thru this process,a lawyer whose fee is either 1/4 or 1/3 of back SS payments(I forget fee schedule I paid)quite a boon to lawyers of less than Perry Mason status....lol

As someone who has undergone that process they start sending you SSI immediately and they process your documents quickly but it is still 3 to 6 months to get approved for SSD for something that can be diagnosed with a simple blood test.
