Now why should you unless you are buying into all the hyperbole?

Once upon a time, Tazzy, the very first thing I saw when getting up one afternoon, was a guy named Reginald Denny getting pulled from a truck, and beaten nearly to death in the street.

Maybe you can happily convince yourself all those tweets are just false flag fear mongering. Good luck with that.

April 29, 1992.

20 years later, all the "proclomations" of riots...

1992: 1992 Los Angeles riots - April 29 to May 5 - among the worst rioting in U.S. History.
1992: Harlem, Manhattan in New York City - July - involved Blacks and Puerto Ricans against the New York Police Department, around the time of the 1992 Democratic National Convention being held there.
1995: St. Petersburg, Florida Riot, caused by protests against racial profiling and police brutality.
2001: 2001 Cincinnati Riots - April - in the African-American section of Over-the-Rhine.
2005: Toledo, Ohio - Neo-Nazis and white supremacists marched in North Park, a mostly African-American section of town. (Police related)
2006: Los Angeles, In MacArthur Park, Hispanic activists clashed with L.A.P.D. in pro-amnesty demonstration for illegal immigrants.
2009: Oakland CA, Oscar Grant Murder Riots. (BART Police shooting)

How many riots have been predicted since 1992 that never came to fruition? Unless we become a police state.... or some cop gets off in your area... I think you are pretty safe.

How do you figure a Romney Presidency would be so disastrous in your part of the world, Polite? Granted, there is less foreign policy experience than I'd like to have on the ticket, and no military experience either, but we are talking about Moderate Mitt here, and with the economy being the number one concern, I like the combination of a successful record of executive achievement, with a budget wonk. Our countries trade back and forth a little, and a rising tide is going to lift all boats.

President Obama took the helm without a bit of experience either, and ain't it amazing how some of the crap he'd been spouting through the campaign went away, once they sat him down, and gave him the realities he had to work with? The same will happen with Mitt Romney, if the election booth deciders break the way they usually do.

Because I suspect his foreign policies and his team will be a continuation of Bush Jnr Rich. This will drag the UK into places and situations we are frankly sick of visiting, Iran being the biggest nightmare. Despite Robs snide comment about UK oil needs and Iran, We are already sending fighter bombers to our basis in the Gulf. Because I see his financial policies following those taken by David Cameron (Conservative leader who I voted for) None of which seem to be having much of an effect. Far from trading back and forth a little, our two economies are somewhat intertwined, especially the banking services. Brown decided to follow Greenspans lead of low interest rates leading to high debt levels both personal and national. If your economy tanks, so does everyone elses, thats what GWB left as his legacy, along with the lasting cost of two wars.

I dont see a venture capitalist who uses slash and burn tactics as being some sort of financial guru to drag you out of the mire. Back to 2008 ideas isnt the same as revamping a broken system. Like it or not, and personally I dont, the US has a bigger impact on the UK than the rest of the EU. Politically, militarily and financially.

Obama did indeed find he couldnt do as he wished but thats hardly surprising with the shit storm he inherited.

Except the awful attack on Reg Denny was the result of a black guy being severly beaten by the cops, not a reaction to an election.

Nope. The challenge of that promise he introduced himself with, was in front of him from day one. Not only did he fail at it every day since then, his stated plan for a second term is more of the same.

We need to let him go.

I disagree. Who needs to be let go are those who, from day one, vowed to put their own politics before the good of the people.

This....this right here.
And anyone who doesn't see this is blinded by either partisanship or bias/bigotry.

Except the Dems ultimately lack the skills and balls to do it effectively. Kevin's method led to a 60+ seat victory, and control of the House. Harry will be pissing his pants over possibly losing control of the Senate in '14.

So you are okay with where we are, right now as a country...as long as it leads to your guys winning ,eh?

Reginald Denny, a driver of a semi truck delivering goods through Compton, being ripped out of his truck by a black thug with a brick who crushed Denny's skull (permanently) was the fault of said attacker having being beaten by a cop.

Well, now, I believe I have heard not only every ridiculous thing that could ever be said but, in fact, the topper.

I never have to read the papers again looking for articles written by people without no cognitive resonance.

Thank you.

You really need to learn to read or learn to stop trolling.

The riots were a reaction to the attack on Rodney King. If you think that is ridiculous you are dumber than you constantly show yourself to be.

He didn't say "fault." He said "result." Despite your sleight of hand, the two verbs are different.

And you seem to have missed the key point, which was that this horrific attack was not related to an election. That raises a valid question about its relevance to the thread.

My apologies for being such an ignoramus....allow me to post your exact words:

"Except the awful attack on Reg Denny was the result of a black guy being severly beaten by the cops, not a reaction to an election."

I get it now.

The attacker pulled Reginald Denny out of his truck, entirely at random as a "result" of another person being severely beaten by the cops.

Thanks for the clarification.

Just one small additional clarification if you please....how is than an entirely innocent person having his head crushed again, with a brick, the result of another (unrelated) persons' being beaten by (anyone)?

The bullshit is starting to pile up...and it is coming from all quarters lately

TheHeretic -> RE: How will the left react, if Obama loses? (11/4/2012 8:32:04 PM)

Polite, Reginald Denny was beaten nearly to death because he was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and failed to understand that the rules of civilization had been suspended by the mob. He should have put both his head, and his right foot, down, and gotten the fuck out of there (which were the instructions my boss had for the crew I was working with that night, if we got into a similar situation), and if the tires got some rioter bits stuck between the duals, so be it.

Rodney King, on the other hand, was in the right place, at the right time, and the beating he took was captured on camera. That sort of shit happened all the time (and similar things still happen to this day). When the cops got off, the riot may have been named for him, but it was a response to LAPD (and police in general) brutality, all around.

The verdict was a flashpoint, but not the cause of the riot.

I hate the idea that some Americans might try to initiate something similar over an election, but all this administration has had to offer as a reason to re-elect the President is fear, loathing, and now a call from President Obama's own lips to vote as an act of revenge. You're the one who supports censoring words that might lead to violent consequences, right?

It's not possible for you to have any comprehension of the realities on the streets where I live and work. You aren't going to have a clue to the particular mentality at play, in deciding there might be an "entitlement," to riot and loot as an expression of displeasure. I know what sorts of areas lie between work and home, and there is an intersection along the way that could conceivably become as famous as Florence and Normandie.

God forbid I should feel the need to carry on election day, or the day after, but a dear old friend of mine shared a philosophy that always stays somewhere in the back of my mind: It's better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6. It's also better to have, and maybe feel a little foolish about it later, than to need, and have let somebody else's ignorant opinion have caused you to leave it in the lockbox.

They rioted because they were ignorant. Not because of a trial regards Rodney King.

Rodney King was nothing more than an excuse (not causing any possible "result") for these people to send what they felt was an appropriate message to society at large because they had less in this world than they felt they deserved.

They burned down stores in their own neighborhoods, destroying the livelihoods not of the people they were angry with, but the people that had fed them daily who had befriended them and cared for their families. And when the fires died down, they suddenly realized (shock of all shocks), they had nowhere to shop, few places to live and nowhere to work, eat or play.

Because they had destroyed their own homes. Their own lives. Their very own community.

Of the 6 on trial for the beating or Mr Denny, 5 were either crackheads, had looooong lists of priors, 3 were thought to be members of the infamous Crips, and in their trial, their weak kneed attorney attempted to get them off by portraying the attackers as victims of society and their environment.

I don't recall this happening In Tacoma. I never remember reading about riots in Iowa at the same time by any race burning fields of corn or wheat. I can't recall a single report of this nature in Tuskaloosa or Nashville.

Orlando seemed to have gotten out of this without anyone torching a Disney ride.

People in San Diego, Pomona, Riverside, Anaheim, Ontario, Fontana, Hollywood and even the dregs of West and North Hollywood....all those people had open shops and unburned buildings, and no over turned cars.

Reginald Denny's brutal attack was not the "result" of a black guy being severly beaten by the cops, it was the "result" of ignorant people who found an excuse to act brutishly against non participants, and the 'result" was the further decay of their own future and local environment that heretofore, had sustained them, in an environment that many over the last hundred or so years rose above and got out of the place....without burning their neighborhoods down and without nearly killing a man who had nothing whatsoever to do with this and without going to prison or being gunned down a few years later by people they knew and associated with.

Or he can reframe it properly: a riot happened due to (cause); one effect of the riot involved Reginald Denny getting attacked in the course of said riot.

Understanding why they rioted isn't going to help him make that elementary connection, which is what he said he didn't get.

I'm generally happy to help out with the ABCs of thinking.
