TheHeretic -> RE: How will the left react, if Obama loses? (11/4/2012 8:32:04 PM)

Polite, Reginald Denny was beaten nearly to death because he was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and failed to understand that the rules of civilization had been suspended by the mob. He should have put both his head, and his right foot, down, and gotten the fuck out of there (which were the instructions my boss had for the crew I was working with that night, if we got into a similar situation), and if the tires got some rioter bits stuck between the duals, so be it. Rodney King, on the other hand, was in the right place, at the right time, and the beating he took was captured on camera. That sort of shit happened all the time (and similar things still happen to this day). When the cops got off, the riot may have been named for him, but it was a response to LAPD (and police in general) brutality, all around. The verdict was a flashpoint, but not the cause of the riot. I hate the idea that some Americans might try to initiate something similar over an election, but all this administration has had to offer as a reason to re-elect the President is fear, loathing, and now a call from President Obama's own lips to vote as an act of revenge. You're the one who supports censoring words that might lead to violent consequences, right? It's not possible for you to have any comprehension of the realities on the streets where I live and work. You aren't going to have a clue to the particular mentality at play, in deciding there might be an "entitlement," to riot and loot as an expression of displeasure. I know what sorts of areas lie between work and home, and there is an intersection along the way that could conceivably become as famous as Florence and Normandie. God forbid I should feel the need to carry on election day, or the day after, but a dear old friend of mine shared a philosophy that always stays somewhere in the back of my mind: It's better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6. It's also better to have, and maybe feel a little foolish about it later, than to need, and have let somebody else's ignorant opinion have caused you to leave it in the lockbox.
