Your other point, about the election, shows that you underestimate Obama. He does not make the same mistake twice. He has developed the most powerful system ever for contacting and coordinating his forces, and used ti for fundraising and GOTV. He used that to win in 2008 and 2012, but didn't use it in 2010. Not long after I joined the Warren campaign, they began implementing the GOTV program.
It's funny though. While it leverages some great technology, the end goal is to put one campaign worker on the doorstep talking to one household of voters. The discussion is real. And it GETS voters back in the game.
Funny story... I was the electronic poll checker for GOTV in my precinct. I won't describer the precise task I was performing, but it involved collecting tally sheets with data that needed to reach a database. The republican poll watcher eyed us suspiciously and even tried to get the poll warden to throw us out. He laughed and said "get with the times. They are doing what you are. They're just better at it".
Days before the election the pundits were predicting that Warren's best would be to beat Brown by a handful of votes. We put Brown out of business with a staggering 9 point lead.
I wish I had bet the Warren race too... I could be sitting on some serious cash. I shouldn't complain. I got the point spread on the Obama election and.$1,575 isn't bad.

Status: offline 		Rather than opposing anyone the Republican party should try introducing legislative ideas and alternatives to the Democrat’s position.

Otherwise rather than opposing health care lets see alternatives and why they will be better. Then they would have something to stand and argue on rather than just oppose.

Same with the economy… lets see a plan…a way to move forward better. Try to get a compromise if you can and if not at least show your alternative for consideration by voters.

I have a terrific idea, since there will clearly be no repeal of ACA now... Why not start a discussion to tweak it so that by the time it's full steam, more people find it acceptable. The admission has already been made (Assuming Romney wasn't lying) that there was no true intent to completely repeal the act.
  Why not use it as an opportunity to get together and compromise? Coming up with a win/win. A cooperative Congress doesn't have to be a nostalgia act.

Personally, I think it's time for a real 3rd party - a true liberal party that focuses on individual freedoms so we can deliver what the other two parties just pander to. Do you think it's an accident that two parties of progressives are essentially doing the same thing by trying to use the government to "help" us? As if they knew what we actually need?

It's not at all unusual for the incumbent to lose votes in the 2nd term election. Given the unprecedented attacks and gridlock the GOP is universally agreed to have inflicted upon the country, the showing the President had was actually quite remarkable.

Danielle will be thrilled you remembered her. Between the chat you had with her and Carol Shea-Porter chatting with her, I suspect I know who the class president of Gloucester High in a few years will be.

Status: offline 		If you truly studied political science then you would know that elections are the most clear opportunity for the peoples' voice to be heard. What else could I have been inferring by referencing the minority party's need to not just oppose the majority party as best they can but to be mindful of success in the next election? Please take me down the path of other possibilities that would be so much more obvious.

Status: offline 		Maybe this'll be a wake up call to the middle class voters that the GOP have effectively declared war on that they need to stop voting for people who want to push them into the gutter to provide a tiny sliver of the population with bigger tax cuts?

Status: offline 		Maybe some day, the opposition party will figure out that the way to gain power is to actually SHOW that they have a better idea and how to implement it instead of just screeching like a howler monkey in a territorial dispute and blocking anything resembling progress because God forbid someone else get credit.

Status: offline 		Dems prevailed 50-48% for the executive branch. Repubs maintain commanding control of the House. It's not uncommon for the people to vote for mixed government and the status quo.
