Status: offline 		It is going to be tough for either side to make concessions. The split in this country is right down the middle and the politicians know it. Going against what they ran on would be political suicide...So... they will continue on until disaster.

What has happened in the past and will need to happen now and in the future is something that will change the thinking of the American people. Some traumatic event that will show one side or the other to be undeniably correct. Then and only then will there be true change because the American people with a true mandate of the majority will demand it.

Maybe the coming financial crisis will be the event.

Unfortunately, what you state is in fact the basis of any Political 'Science' department at every university. They do not teach that one side is better than the other, just that we should pick a side and be done with it. Not a mention of anything relevant to the actual workings of society, the economics, the processes of regulation, etc. Just go by the ideology which involves the least amount of thinking for you, however scant the difference in that regard.

Having suffered through just one required class from that blight upon higher education, I concur completely that the nation would realize great improvement in terms of general awareness of reality and society were they to be kicked out of the country.

2008 wasnt enough to stop Republicans from being obstructionist in 2010. I am conviced they would have let folks go to the wall in order to try and make Obama a one term President. McConnell even stated that was his aim and if Republicans continue on the same path they can kiss goodbye to 2012, let alone 2016.

Dude.....the 1st Amendment says the government won`t infringe on free speech....


The constitution doesn`t say we can`t voice our opinions when someoe says something really stupid,or bigoted or untrue....


In fact, it says we also have the right to free speech......
