Look if he didnt want to know - he shouldnt of asked it.

Whatever.

You don't want to answer a very simple question, that's ok.

Forgot to add this quote to the end of my post:

«To live a good life, one must live in a great community.»

According to R. C. Solomon and K. M. Higgins, this was a common sentiment with the Greeks.

I think they had a point. I would throw in a bit of C. Lamb there to make my own take on it:

«To become great, one must live among greatness.»

There's a bit of give and take in that.

IWYW,
— Aswad.

Shh, now. You're spoiling the instant gratification factor. Next you'll want people to self-evaluate.

FR

I mentioned this thread to Awareness and he commented, saying "Anyone who questions the existence of a board clique on CollarMe is devoid of intelligence, integrity or both."

I find his logic strangely compelling.

But the thing is ML - I did answer his question. If other posters didnt like the answer, then thats their problem. He asked a specific question - and I answered it. If someone comes on here and asks a specific question and someone answers them with something that is not insulated in bubble wrap and they get offended -then maybe they need to think about what theyre posting in the first place.

OK... could you ask the wise one who is actually in this clique?

I would say that anyone believes that there is a single identifiable, homogeneous clique here is even more devoid of intelligence, integrity, or both.

Where did I say that you didn't. Could you point it out to me, as if I made such a statement it was a mistake and I would really like to correct it.

You won't answer a very fucking simple question, and I think you won't answer it because it kinda fucks up the righteous tone of your op.

But... we're not going to agree on this are we?

And you're clearly unwilling to even consider how your response might have appeared nasty and unwelcoming.

Hypocritical.... much?

I am really enjoying this thread.

Joy to the world.

It's hard to take a look at yourself, much easier to just deny and disagree.

The truth will always set you free.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

LOLOL!!! Thats awesome !!

We only send them when there is a violation. It would be reasonable to assume there has been nothing warranting a gold note, because it would also be reasonable to assume that users that make a habit of ignoring letters from us, wouldnt have the habit long

Yes I can see how they could think that - but I can also see how they might think - did I set myself up for that?
Sometimes people have to take responsibility for what they post - and not blame everyone else for the responses that they get.

I don't think this thread has gone as originally intended and since the bulk of the OP was my words and "accusations", I'd like to clarify something: The OP insinuates that I said "regular posters". I did not. I said there was a "contingent".

Now, I don't think this is agroup of people that have weekly meetings and hash out strategy but I do believe that the mob mentality exists. I also believe that "clique" is an appropriate term; not in the term of a quantified group but in a loose association based upon people that feel that are entitled to behave any way they damn well please because this is "their place".

Also, one more clarification: While I used the term "mean high school girls", I did not mean to infer that it was just females participating; only that the behavior was like that of the younger feminine gender. There are plenty of males that I had in mind that fit that description.

I'll say it again; new people are not going to know us and if we continue to treat them like dirt under our feet, they'll get washed away by the tide of indifference and aggressiveness.

Some of these new people are scared to death. Whether they come off as asshats or not in their initial posts, they may indeed be "savable" but if you've cut their will out before they lose their vanilla cone, you'll never know.

In fact, why not try an experiment where you lay off someone until they lose that vanilla cone. Try to meet their ignorance or arrogance with understanding and instruction. If they still don't get it, after 50 posts then, so be it but what is the loss in trying to err on the side of compassion?

I know that for some, this idea will be a foreign concept but give it a try and you might find that an even larger percentage of newbies stick around and become valued old timers, after a while.

Again: What have you got to lose?

Peace and comfort,

Michael

ETA: Alpha could you please send my posts from that closed thread?

By actions and not members, it may be so.

Well as it has been stated in this post numerous times - that there are posters or newbies that come in here with an agenda or a certain rudeness that really doesn't deserve much of anything - let alone a decent response.

Then there are the trolls - like the one that this thread originally spun off of.

Then there are the arguers that just want to hear what they want to hear and wouldnt take decent advice if they were on fire - and will just argue and argue and argue because theyre right and everyone else is wrong and so forth -

There are many reasons for why people get irritated with the goings ons with newbies - but as Ive stated in this thread - it doesnt happen all the time. And I think people here are intelligent enough to know the difference and respond accordingly. Most do.

Actually, I could name who is in the clique. I've even been accused of being part of it.

I would like to see some examples of threads where this has been happening - because Im not sure what this pack is, or who is in this pack - or for that matter what the pack was attacking. Maybe some perspective would help. Its easy to say there is a Pack mentality going on here - but Id like to see proof.

Hmmm...

Then you'd be stretching the definition of clique a bit, wouldn't you?
