There are a number of fetishes banned by tbe TOS here. Shouldnt Fin Domme be added to the list?

I can see reasons why it'd be nice if there was the "fin domme" check box so that searches would be simpler.

What about those of us who are both lifestyle and pro? Wouldn't clicking that box take us out of the searches for the lifestyle aspect?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 10:00:08 AM)

Most of the fetishes that are banned are outright illegal.
Findoms can be annoying as fuck but the last time I looked, they weren't illegal.

ETA It's just a case of your kink isnt my kink.

In the jurisdiction CM is under, yes.

One of them is legal in Denmark, for instance.

No, I don't feel like having more arbitrary restriction upon me on an ever-loving fetish site. If we can't talk about our fetish stuff here, you know, on a fetish site, then where is the outlet to discuss them at all? I understand that there are plenty of topics that top out people's Reichter scale, but that is not grounds for dismissing a whole group of people who need to be able to put things in the light and examine them as the rest are allowed to do. Fetish sites could actually do to get more ballsy, not more compliant. Then again, it isn't my little venture, so I guess it's easy for me to say.

FinDommes are very low on my list of priorities if we are going to outright ban anybody further. I think there are far more dangerous elements about that could be addressed first. Then again, this is akin the the blacklisting discussion. Who's making the decisions and why? If we don't stand up for the rights of the FinDommes, then who will be next? What if YOU fall squarely into one of those groups one of these days? Will you be so hip to ban people based on their fetishes, orientations, or whatever random criteria then? I suppose not.

There are legit FinDommes and nonlegit, just like any other facet of life and the lifestyle. So what? I think the risk is pretty clear, cut, and dry on this one. There is even a warning about sending people money. Other risks out there with any random person are far more murky. Additionally, banning people sounds so great in theory. The practice doesn't work though. There are too many ways to get around such bans. That's the fact. If you build a bigger, better mousetrap, you are just going to wind up with bigger, smarter mice. Natural selection's a bitch, isn't it?

Perhaps... there might be ways around that though. For instance, dual profiles that cross-reference each other. Alternately, the checkbox might not say "Fin Domme". It might say "Fin Domme only". But yes... there are in my opinion more issues with the solution than there are with the problem itself. I find it hard to believe that the male submissives looking for actual relationships have a hard time filtering out the fin-only dommes. Using the two obviously stellar examples in my eyes, I've never heard either Roch or Peon complaining about difficulty in this area (that I can recall anyway).

SeekingTrinity -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 11:00:10 AM)

Ill start by saying Im not a Fin Domme fan either. But just because their kink isnt mine, I honestly cant see a justification in banning them just because I am not a fan.

I think its a slippery slope once we start to ban people because we dont agree with what it is they do. Today it might be the Fin Dommes, tomorrow it may be the Goreans. Eventually someone is going to dislike the kink you have or the kink I have...and then we too could stand to be banned. Now the things that are illegal of course are the exception. But I havent really heard of financial domination as being an illegal activity in and of itself.

Does this mean that you are willing to tell the cattle rancher that your opinion of his farm should usurp his ownership of it?

ETA - Oh, and for the record, last Saturday at the munch, I had the greatest, greasy, not good for Me hamburger, with mushrooms and blue cheese that I had in the longest time. I didn't feel a damn bit bad for the cow.

Anyone that's spent much time around cows, pigs or chickens understands the ONLY reason they aren't extinct is they taste good on a bun. They seriously are so dumb they will fall over & die if you move their food station too far from where it was this morning.

That's why they exist in the first place: we cultivated them from other species; boar, for instance, are probably smarter than pigs.

Personally, I don't care if it's cows or humans people put on their buns, though, and I like to care for both.

I have to assume you have spent no time w/ the species that you mentioned.  Pigs are one of the most highly intelligent animals we have.  They have been proven to be smarter than dogs and are highly trainable.  Bovine species ~ not as highly intelligent for sure, but neither are they dumb animals.  Ditto for fowl.  We, humans, tend to judge them by our own standards; which is not a true meter of their intelligence level.

Having raised many pigs, poultry & steers for over 20 years while on a farm, I can attest to their levels of problem solving (hence they wouldn't die if you move their feeding stations, (they root, peck and graze non~stop remember ), social skills, intelligence,  maternal instincts and many other interesting but little known facets of their lives.  It is easier to think of them as dumb unfeeling critters when we order them at a restaurant.

I've got a detailed answer on this thread that was on page 2 of the General Board.

LadyPact, you beat me to it.

SimplyMichael - have you read the first page of the thread in the link?

Which is easier to bring ourselves to think when we don't see that about ourselves.

Humans, in my experience, are pretty much dumb, unfeeling critters.

And they make for good company, like other critters.

I must admit my initial assumption was less benign than yours. When people make such a statement about such animals, I tend to think they have indeed been around such animals, that they've placed in an environment that turns otherwise nice animals into something less than they should be, akin to keeping a kid locked up in a closet instead of having it attend school, interact with others, and so forth. Every species needs external stimuli to realize any meaningful fraction of their potential. And just cause we're going to eat them doesn't mean we can't treat them right in the mean time.

absolutchocolat -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 2:47:09 PM)

the findomme topic has been beat to death, but i'm not entirely against a way of putting the classification in the search tool.

littlewonder -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 3:02:34 PM)

why? because you don't like it? It's not breaking any laws. The people who give money to findommes are doing it knowingly and not being forced to do so. They give it more than willingly.

So you don't like it. Big wup.

I don't like lots of fetishes that people do here. So what? It's legal and it's their life...not mine. They are more than free to talk about whatever they like. Hell, imo, I don't even think we should have a banned list. You don't like something? Put it on ignore.

littlewonder -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 3:09:09 PM)

As for chickens being dumb? Having grown up on a chicken farm...yeah, they are. Move their food away, they die of starvation. I would tell you a few other things about the chickens being dumb but too gruesome here for most to stomach.

FrostedFlake -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 6:45:07 PM)

The part that is objectionable is the ADVERTISEMENTS (I'm great, you don't even suck, fork over the dough!) that SOME shameless gold diggers feel PERFECTLY JUSTIFIED in pasting where I will trip over it.

If someone wants a findom, he can find one VERY EASILY. Everyone else is being abused by those who post such ads. I would like to see such ADVERTISEMENTS (I'm great, you don't even suck, fork over the dough!) BANNED by TOS. Because it is TROLLING. If someone thinks otherwise I pose this : What gives you the right to directly insult me AND almost everyone else? I mean, on FOX you would have to PAY to do that. Why should you get to advertise your business here for free?

UNREASONABLE? There is a page for these ADS. This should solve that.

littlewonder -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 7:07:40 PM)

I think it's so funny how some people seem to be bothered by stuff online. I mean come on...it's online lol. How hard is it to shrug and just move along? I see stuff in real life that isn't my cup of tea either but hey how hard is it for me to just shrug and ignore it? Not hard at all. I usually will laugh or shake my head but it sure ain't gonna bother my day. It seems petty and useless to do so. I have much better things in the world to worry about than something so insignificant.

TNDommeK -> RE: Banned fetishes (11/27/2012 9:03:05 PM)

*sighs*

I think just because you may not be into the fetish, doesn't mean that others aren't. So to "ban" the fetish would be wrong IMO. Who says any fetish is acceptable or not? Just do you and let others do what they like.

Gosh, everyone always wants to get rid of us. :(

Would you like me to start the round of kum bi ya or will you? Have some lovely quinoa salad & pichouli burger to share

I have worked with animal non-profits for ages & still sat right next to the regional director for PETA enjoying a roasted turkey leg with the dogs!! Funny that after smelling meat none of them even licked the curried tofu he tried to give them. Its the circle of life!![:D]
