Tazzy, I got slapped because I dumped her. I went to a park with her and simply told her I want to break up. Not long after *slap*, and a damn hard one.

Did you call the police to have her arrested for assault?

And the reason I asked is because I always tell women....

Step up to a man like a man and hit him like a man, dont be surprised when he treats you like a man and decks you.

Is it right? Nope. Its human nature.

But men are expected to help feminism, right?

I'm not claiming women "owe" men. But just imagine all the sudden every male on the planet decided to total ignore feminism, have nothing to do with it, not support it.

What do you think would happen?

And imagine if, all of the sudden, every male on the planet grew wings and flew away like a bird!

Sorry, I don't deal with hypotheticals that have no chance of ever happening. You want me to argue that feminism is anti-male, as you seem to think it is? Okay, define your terms.

Which school of feminist theory is it, in particular, that you have an issue with?

No, that is exactly what domestic violence entails.

OttersSwim -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 1:39:59 PM)

Essential life lessons:

1. Life is not fair. Life never will be fair.

2. Where you are today is 100% due to the choices you have made. You are the Captain of your own ship, no one else is responsible for your happiness, your unhappiness, your successes or your failures. It is totally on YOU.

3. Life is not about what happens to you, but how you choose to react to things that happen - this works both proactively and retroactively.

4. In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. Yea, they were right...

rhondare -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 1:41:39 PM)

Forgive the drive-by snark. It's always better to use your words than violence.

Normally it would have been viewed as snark, even causing a few chuckles. In the OP's case, he is looking for snark from women to try and make his case.

Lucylastic -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 1:50:41 PM)

Tell ya what Nick, Ill donate webspace, and ''''"design" for free to help you get this started.... social media is a great way to start something like this, look at occupy...huge response by twitter, facebook...get people interested, start up a wordpress blog... get people interested, and see what happens.
No strings, no advertising, straight offer of web management and hosting....

see me on the other side if you want to do something instead ignoring ways of doing it for yourself or expecting women to cover your inability to.

MsLadySue -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 2:24:41 PM)

Nick, if you put half as much effort into changing what pisses you off that you've put into bitching on the forums, you might accomplish something besides coming across as a total whining douchebag.

naughtynick81 -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 2:27:26 PM)

Lucy

It's the government's job, it's the politician's job. It's the job of the people in power. The people who have money and resources. The people who do these types of things for a living.

How silly can people get?

We all know if someone started a thread on a random article about pay gap, glass ceilings, rape, DV or any female issue that exist, people would all the sudden stick to the topic at hand instead of trying to turn it on the messenger, or in other words, blaming women...which is totally socially taboo.

This is pure sexism, plain and simple. If you think everyone should chuck the burden and blame on any male who raises a male issue while having no such standard towards a woman expressing female issues, you are a sexist bigot, there is no way around it.

Stop playing these childish games. This is nothing more than a diversion tactic. It's a tactic used to veer the focus away from the whole point of the issue. The reason why you are playing this game is because you can't handle the politically incorrect truth being exposed. You would rather hear people talking about how males are oh so privileged and poor women are oppressed.

rhymeswithcupid -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 2:34:37 PM)

You were offered FREE web hosting, design and management so you could actually do something about these issues you keep complaining about and rather than gratefully accepting the offer or even graciously declining, you accuse Lucy of playing childish games and go right back to regurgitating your previous "points" ... Seriously?

You keep passing the buck, claiming its everyone's responsibility but your own and yet you continue to start one thread after another voicing your ever growing list of complaints.

And if you truly believe it is the responsibility of those with the money and the power, why are you posting all this on a forum those people are likely to never read in the first place? What is it you hope to achieve here?

Sorry if you have very poor comprehension but where did I say that it's everyone's? Are you putting words in my mouth?

It's the government's job, it's the politician's job. It's the job of the people in power. The people who have money and resources. The people who do these types of things for a living.

Stop bullshitting and making this laughable argument to suggest that it's somehow the burden and responsibility of the average powerless male who just simply makes a thread about it.

Seriously, how moronic can this get?

I thought forums are for discussion? Am I wrong? Am I missing something here? Forums aren't meant for discussion? If so, why aren't I entitled to make this thread?

Why aren't you telling people who complain about governments do to something about it? Look at all the topics in this forum. With every thread that has a rant about something, where are the people telling them to do something about it? Where are the people placing the burden and responsibility on the OPs who make political complaints?

Why does this only apply to a male who makes a thread about male issues?

We can all see how ridiculous this all is. Sorry the game is up.

MstSebastian -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 2:46:17 PM)

If you actually cared about this issue, Nick, then you wouldn't try to pass responsibility off on to others. You would take any opportunity you could get, including the opportunity provided for you here, to actually do something. But, the fact that you claim it is other people's responsibility to fix what you think is wrong in society just shows that you are all bark, no bite. You claim to be powerless, but that powerlessness is purely voluntary on your part. It seems, to me, that you enjoy this "I'm a powerless victim" role.

So the same standard applies to everyone who makes a thread on any topic that exist? This applies to all the threads we see in this forum? Or does this only apply to a male who expresses male issues?

Can you see how ridiculous your stance is? How can it not be ridiculous to have one standard for a male expressing male issues while another standard for everything else?

As much as you are desperately trying so hard to make me look silly, you are only making your self look silly.

I'm not going to reply to anyone else who is carrying on with this childish game.

absolutchocolat -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 2:50:52 PM)

i've seen numerous threads where the OP starts off with a complaint, gets useful advice and uses it. it has little, if anything, to do with the gender of the OP, and more to do with the kind of attitude and preconceived notions brought to the table when the person posts.

you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about women and feminism, which is fine. a lot of folks here, not all, disagree with some of the things you're saying. that's the way of the world. that's what discussion is.

you're entitled to make this thread, but you're aren't entitled to bitch about the types of responses you get. you opened the door for them, so deal with it.

I think the phrase you're looking for is 'consciousness raising'. Yes, it's a part of a strategy for political change and I guess here is as good a place as any.

MstSebastian -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 2:53:15 PM)

That's fine. You can feel free to run away with your tail between your legs. It matters not to me. Your own lack of desire to do anything to change the problems you think exist has been shown. You were offered free website design and management if you wanted to start up a movement to help male victims of domestic violence. Instead of taking that person up on the VERY generous offer you were given, you backed away and claimed it was someone else's job to fix things. You tacitly, and quite clearly, stated that you have no desire to put forth the effort needed to change things.

There is nothing childish or ridiculous in my stance. What is ridiculous is the fact that you will scream and moan that things need to change, but refuse to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to change them.

There is a word for people like that: Lazy.

That means everyone else who is making any type of rant that exist in here are also running away with their tail between their legs. :D

Gotta love double standards. It's amazing that people can be so dense to use such idiocy. What's going through their minds? They obviously aren't switched on.

MstSebastian -> RE: Why the double standard? (11/28/2012 3:06:07 PM)

When I see other people rant about an issue, get offered legitimate resources to help fight that issue, and then refuse the offer and claim that they shouldn't be expected to actually do anything for the betterment of their issue, then I'll make the same accusation of them than I've made of you.

But, until that happens, this thread is all about you and your issue buddy. You opened the door, as another poster brilliantly said, so you don't get to get self-righteous when you don't get the responses you had hoped for.
