Status: offline 		Ahhh Oside.... what a little beauty!  Ozzzie (my ACD) was a velcro dog also.  I had a bad horse wreck once and slept in the living room in a recliner for 6 weeks.  I had to move a padded chair next to the recliner for Oz.  He never left my side.
 
People could really learn something from dogs yanno!  *smiles*

Status: offline 		  Aussies are incredible dogs, no doubt.  If I had a way to do it, I'd post a clip of Ozzie, the 45lb wonder, taking on a decoy (bad guy in a suit) that weighed about 250lbs.  He was the toughest dog I think I've ever owned. :)  Lived to be 16, and survived a cougar attack.  (he got too close to Rhaja at feeding time).  tough little man! yep he was!.

That's one gorgeous pit pup!  I wanted a blue for the longest time but I also was looking for the old school type..... not so much the 'bully' dogs you see today.  I need a dog w/ athleticism, stamina and the ability to scale a 6' wall for my sport.  Also the tenacity to stop a 200lb + man! :)  good luck in your search.  I see you are in DB.  If I can be of any help in your search please let me know.

Status: offline 		 I prefer the taller, leaner dogs for working in Schutzhund, which takes a tremendous amount of athleticism, endurance and clear headedness.  It is a 3 phase sport of tracking, obedience & protection work that originated in Germany in the very early 1900's and was used as a breeder's tool to evaluate the breeding quality of the German Shepherd dog.  The sport is open to any and all breeds in this country; and some pits have done really well.
 
While looking for the "blue" pit puppy I reminded myself this dog would have a purpose besides being a well loved pet.  It was to be a working athlete.  The shorter, squattier "bully" type that is so very prevalent today is not geared for the type of work I have in mind.   Kennel names such as Razor's Edge, Gotti, etc... while producing some amazing looking drop dead gorgeous blue pits.... would not work well for my particular purpose.

i've seen that American dogs sometimes have their ears a certain way that seems very un-natural to the breed. in looking at some on the links in youtube from the one RS posted i saw it there. my question is why? when RS said 'cropped' is this what you were talking about?

if this is a surgical thing why would anyone do that to a dog? we are not even allowed to dock ours now unless we can prove it's for working purposes. infact most vet's refuse to do it. but as least there was a working reason behind docking. i'm not sure why people would do this with a dogs ears...if that is what is being done.

here's my son's american bulldog, Demian, who is scared of everything from balloons to the Game of Thrones DVD boxed set....is allergic to sooo many things that he requires very expensive special food and prn meds....and must drink bottled water while at grandma's house because my well water gives him the toots.

Cropping the ears to produce the "alert" upright ears in breeds like boxers and dobies is still revoltingly common in the US. The problem is manifold, first is that many states have virtually no animal cruelty laws at all (cock fighting only became illegal in the entire US 4 years ago). Second is the kennel and breed clubs which stick to the 19th century breed standards despite overwhelming evidence of harm to the animals. Finally many breeders care about nothing but the puppies sale price and will crop the ears rather than educate the buyers.
