It seems the cops didn't mess around. Looks like they used high temperature tear gas cartridges (oops - did we start a fire?) and then sent in an armored piece of equipment to just rip the walls down, while the flames took hold, with snipers watching from all angles. They have a body.

I worked late tonight, I heard the news coming home in my car. ...they have a body, I am glad they didn't need to bomb the entire neighborhood to get him. Rich, between the ex cop on a murderous rampage, whatever North Korea is up to, the economy, and the deterioration of society in general, I thought long and hard about the world we live in. Who would ever think we would see a cop going off like this? It's like some sort of movie, I am thinking this can't be real. sad days for this world Rich, sad days.

Marini, Rich, my education was in history in college, with a bit of anthropology thrown in because it interested me, for the last 20 years, I have been working on a theory about what is happening in the world now. My theory is that increasing population world wide is creating the social environment that leads to these kinds of violent incidents. Look at how much the population density in major cities around the world has increased at an almost exponential rate. I do not believe the human species was meant to live in cities, or even towns of over 10000 in population. Humans are social animals, but outside of immediate family, major social bonds are limited to a select few. The rest are not important to the individual. Of course I may be batshit crazy with this theory, and the whole idea may need its own thread. As it is, it seems to me that the more people living together, the more that go batshit crazy with homicidal intentions.

One of the experiments you read about in Psych 101 is the classic rats in a cage. One rat in a cage does fine and is happy Give it a mate and they start breeding and they're happy 3-4-5, etc and everything is copacetic. Depending on cage size and the strain of rat, at a certain density which is consistent from experiment to experiment, when a certain threshhold is crossed for population density all hell breaks loose. They fight to he death, mothers eat their young and in general the whole social order goes to hell. This happens even if you have plenty of material resources and there is no need to fight over them.

The same sort of results occur with people though. SOC 101. I think your overall theory may have some truth to it but as far as the world getting worse it is just not true. We are a far gentler species at this time in our existence than at any other time. My opinion anyway. The world, and the human species are learning to get along as the world population is educated. Once we understand there is a limit to our numbers that the earth can support we will enter a golden age. Butch

Not in my experience, you have more stressors in a small town cuz everyone knows your business or thinks they friggin do.. Small towns also you are much less likely to find a job, so money issues stressors are there too, perhaps even more so.. no buses either so try getting around and see how far you get if you dont have a vehicle.. grocery shopping means you likely have to travel to a bigger city to buy food & supplies (especially bullets and such).. etc, etc.. jmo quote: ORIGINAL: Powergamz1 The same sort of results occur with people though. We here in the western world are suffering somewhat for the so called third world relative prosperity but in the end it is for the best. Notice how countries that depend on propaganda and religious zeal to govern are becoming isolated and will eventually lose their grip on their people.
