Well they did find his wallet...may have gone out shooting too

Here he was,.. was holed up & hiding across from where the cops were all set up.. no wonder they couldnt find him.. [8|]

For him being portrayed as a psycho killer, he did not kill those two women (the housekeepers) that accidentally surprised him, he just tied them up and left.. sounds like that was actually his undoing since one got free and called the cops and put them on his trail again..

Well looking at his Manifesto..then there is this guy.

I havent read his manifesto.. but imo he is not a psychopath like some so called "experts" were saying he was.. imo, if that is what he was, he would have killed the two women, the guy in the truck and his dog, without missing a beat.. That doesnt mean that I think he was sane tho..

Actually in the manifesto he had declared a personal war against the LAPD, since none were from the LAPD it makes sense why he did not kill them. Besides being so close to the command center, the sound of gun fire may tip off the Police who were looking for him. There were news reports where some believed he had Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which is very different from having a Psychopathic Personality Disorder.

The view that a psychopath kills randomly is a stereotype view. The term is used in the criminal justice setting, it is true a person with Psychopathic symptoms may kill, and has antisocial behavior, they tend to more manipulative. There terms sane, insane, are not medical terms rather legal ones. The meaning of the word "insane" means the inablity to determine right from wrong when a crime is committed.

I am like you in speculating we will never know what his motivations were in those incidents.

I try not to watch the news on tv but I did see a bit a few days ago and the yahoo "expert" was saying he was a psychopath.. Listening to the guy made me cringe cuz I doubt he was basing his conclusion on much info at all.. And considering that Dorner was a vet and so many vets come back from war being very damaged.. Imo, that needs to be a major aspect to consider in determining what was going on with him & what was going on in his head..

that would not surprise me at all..

I wonder if making a recording of what the cops were saying on the scanner is illegal or not.. the guy that did that and put it on youtube might end up in a tad of trouble himself..

The Navy has released some of Dorner service records. I am not sure about his service, it does show he recived an medal for Iraq but nothing like a Purple heart or Bronze Star. Nor any report of injuries. Did he suffer PTSD is not listed...nor the actual reason he left the Navy.

Nothing in there supports any of the media's Rambo speculation.
O-1 to O-3 in 4 years doesn't sound unusual.
Marksman in the military is the lowest possible set of scores that qualify.
Bahrain isn't Iraq. Bahrain is party central.
Coastal Riverine Group is basically protecting larger ships while in port... harbor patrol. Being attached to that as a reservist could have been anything from doing paperwork on out.
MIUWU is similar.

None of the medals indicate anything outstanding.

Less likely, unless some sort of hacking was done to get onto a secured channel. If they were simply broadcasting it, it would be a looooong stretch to arrest someone.

well,.. as I understand it and depending on the laws in the state, you need to be one of the people recorded or tell the people that they are being recorded (like when you call the bank and they tell you they record all conversations)..
While people that have scanners that can listen into cop broadcasts, those arent meant for the public to hear.. to me thats no different than the scanners people can use to listen to private cell conversations (which I believe is illegal to do)..
But it depends on the laws there and the wording of it.. and too, the cops may not want the publicitiy of suing someone for that.. it makes them look like they are trying to hide something.. not good PR.. lol

Well, DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Do you think they're going to put someone up at the podium and say "We couldn't get him to surrender so we decided to burn him out"?

Owner59 -> RE: Police: 3 dead after ex-cop vows 'war' on other police, their families (2/14/2013 6:22:05 AM)

The air waves are free and therefore it`s legal to record anything one can receive on them.Of course, one can`t then resell music or similar materials or anything else considered illegal, but simply recording the channels is legal.

The law about recording private conversations secretly is a different deal.

The San Bernardion County Sheriff Office has a pretty good reputation.

So it appears Dorner was not in combat....it would seem he did not have PTSD....

Yes, recording private conversations secretly is different (although I personally do view these conversations as private since its cops talking to cops, not the public, just cuz they are using a radio that can be scanned doesnt mean (to me) that its meant to be public).

And too, owning a scanner is illegal in some states so i expect it would also be illegal to record what was heard on said illegal scanner and so also illegal to diseminate it.. It sounds like using a scanner in CA is illegal only if its used in the furtherance of a crime (like someone listening to a scanner to warn his buddy burglar if the cops have been called).. although Los Angeles County has its own laws on scanners & makes using them in a vehicle illegal..

I have not found anything specific about recording scanner conversations in CA.. But personally, even if it is legal to record and then desseminate the recording, I would not want to tick the cops off and have them on my arse..

That's for intercepting communications by *wire* in which there is an expectation of privacy.

When you grab a microphone and broadcast out into the airwaves, it is much harder to prove that your privacy has been violated. And states not withstanding, the Supremes have been reluctant to extend privacy to what is in effect yelling out your window.

ETA: The police haven't had much luck getting federal courts to give them special sooper seekrit privacy rights either.
