theres your disconnect....
No one here has demonstrated any glory over the atrocities committed in English history
Ya see, history cant be changed... the english, the french, the chinese, the spanish, the dutch, the germans, the russians, the italians, ad nauseam, wether for religious or empire "building" is not something we can change, or deny. And no one has... you keep saying it, but you havent proven yourself.
youve done a fine job of obfuscating and given really LOUSY assumptions, I cant change the nose on my face, I cant change bloody history, OR peoples "feelings" about their ancestors.
You wouldnt accept any apology, or attempt at one. the hole in your heart, the hate, is YOUR problem, not every englishpersons.
Just keep hating on people for something they had no control over...thats the way to make things better in this world...
You cant help your heritage, in the same way I cant help mine.

Actually the correct word is not hate, amusement is a better term.

And you are quite funny, and still don't understand anything. Cameron is probably like you and wonders why he came home from India with an empty bag in his hand after trying to convince India that England and India had a "special relationship" (his words too.)

But do go on with your ranting, it goes well with my coffee.

Nah amusement isnt the description I would use from your verbiage.
Im not ranting precious...
And your assumption isnt correct either. so you really are loosing big time.
I hope your coffee keeps you happy

Terra nullius, the pride of the Crown until a few years ago.

http://www.survivalinternational.org/tribes/aboriginals
Ever since the British first invaded, Aboriginal peoples have had their land stolen from them or destroyed. Until 1992, when it was finally overturned, the legal principle governing British and then Australian law regarding Aboriginal land was that of ‘terra nullius’ – that the land was empty before the British arrived, belonged to no-one, and could legitimately be taken over.

Most has still to be returned today, and the loss of their land has had a devastating social and physical impact on Aboriginal peoples.

The initial invasions also sparked huge waves of disease that killed thousands – many others were massacred. In just over one hundred years from the first invasion of their land, their numbers were reduced from up to an estimated one million to only 60,000.

And I am done reading your holocaust denier tap dance.

That's without how quaint complaining that there weren't all that many slaves among the pre colonial population of North America looks in a thread somebody's started to whine about British conduct in India, of course.
Last time I checked it's still Indians living in most of India: it isn't like we wiped most of them out, stuffed the last few into reservations, then spent the next two centuries bragging about our constitutionally protected declaration of universal human rights, after all...

Powergamz1 -> RE: UK apology for India massacre? (2/24/2013 7:16:26 AM)

If by 'your tribe' you mean an apology to the the millions of Causasian Americans who claim to be "1/32 Cherokee", it would mean a massive series of aneurisms across the Isles.

If the English made an apology to your tribe for the crimes they committed from the 1600s onward what would it mean?

Nothing unless the through in an apologize for the crimes against humanity for exporting cricket and the spice girls, and giving me Pippa Middleton as a sex slave.

What about the rest of your tribe, aren't they entitled to similar tokens of contrition?

YN -> RE: UK apology for India massacre? (2/24/2013 7:30:56 AM)

Any real symbol of contrition from any of the European colonial powers, would cause similar pains.

Do you think English had nothing to do with the North American holocaust? I would think you would regard your conquest of North America and the extermination of the natives as one of the glories of the English empire.

If Moonhead wants to discuss the favorable treatment India received in only starving or killing many scores of millions of them and while robbing them, as opposed to what was done by England in North America, certainly he can demonstrate the type of outrages England could have committed if the treated them in a similar manner to how the English treated the poor natives of North America, so we can judge the mercy and beneficence shown India and thus illustrating which they should be grateful for.

Well, that's the game isn't? The English created the fiction of the Master Race long before a certain Herr Shicklegruber coopted it (along with the Big Lie). English exceptionalism is spoonfed from infancy, coated in the white man's burden, etc...

The whole display of contempt for the 'former colonial' victims from some posters here is part of maintaining a stiff upper lip. Note that Germany passed strict laws and enforced them, against denying their holocaust, while the fragments of the Empire encourage and perpetuate the denial of their holocaust(s) in order to keep the old myth of pale genetic superiority gasping along on life support.

The pretense of 'considering' an apology for a whitewashed account of a single incident, is predicated on the premise that the 'good' Indians are dumb enough to fall for it, and let the Crown have some more of their resources. And in order to pull that off with a straight face, it has to be deeply ingrained in your national soul.

Man sarcasm really does not work in this medium.

My point is that an apology for what happened a hundred or more years ago is worth about as much as a wooden nickle.

Neither do my attempts at humor.

But as noted, any such apology would be completely insincere.

FR

You know, I'm beginning to notice that wherever you get one group of people who are powerful, and one group who aren't, the powerful ones tend not to treat the less powerful ones as well as they should.

Has anybody else noticed this?

No, I stated you likely were as lacking in understanding as he. Not that you'll likely understand the difference.

Get back to your whinging about the evil abuse the world heaps on the hapless English like yourself, as that was far more amusing, at least it can reasonably be claimed to be "Topic and not Poster"

I think you`re wrong about the worth of an (sincere) acknowledgment of mistakes or wrongdoing.

And it`s way to soon to declare failure or success

Maybe I will give a damn, in a minute or so.... but its very unlikely. Even if you did make sense. Its not on my "mock the post" list for that reason
