Put yourself in the shoes of of any European country (Spain, Portugal,England, France, Holland etc) who were part of this worldwide colonial holocaust, Now imagine having to properly explain your nation's colonial conduct, in the case of trying to at least appear contrite.

Would you act as David Cameron did in this case, of going to India, claim a "special relationship" while offering to trade an "apology" for a large military aircraft deal, and expect anyone, let alone the Indians (we have already discussed and posted the negative responses of India,) to think the apology as sincere?

So when did you lads apologise to your Indians for the genocide campaign that was waged against them, then?
There's still a few of them hanging around the reservations even now: get the Kenyan down to a casino and have him apologise right now if you're pissing and moaning about our conduct as an ex colonial nation.
(And as for the smallpox blankets thing, if you're seriously going to try to stick us with the moral responsibility for that one, then you owe us two hundred and forty years' arrears on the tea tax...)

I am a large part one of those Indians, and nobody in any part of the America's, let alone Costa Rica owes you or England a thing, for your tea or anything else.

But it is nice to see the real European coming out, and thinking Europe is owed for their conduct. As noted this approach worked so well for Cameron in his Indian visit, and the Indians got no apology, sincere or otherwise, and England got no jet deal, in addition to the ill-will generated by the charade.

As noted far earlier, the better start would be to hand the great diamond back.

I still say that someone from the UK owes the world an apology for exporting cricket and the spice girls damnit!

YN -> RE: UK apology for India massacre? (2/26/2013 11:43:47 AM)

And if you wish to discuss reparations, and apologies, return "Belize" to the Maya and apologize and pay reparations for the many thousands of Indians and free Africans your criminals along the "Moskito" Coast hauled off to slavery on your Caribbean plantations.

You would likely get an apology for those two exports a millennium before you can expect to hear one for their colonial adventures.

It's not our fault you people can't follow the rules of cricket and think that rounders is a proper ball game for grown men, is it?
[:D]
(As for the Spice Girls, you get an apology for them when your country apologises for The Osmonds, Hanson and NKOTB, and not before.)

Actually I dont know of any bdsm websites like collarme based in Great Britain.

As for the "he who is without sin" statement, there is no culture or nationality who is without sin, including the Native Americans.

Okay, granted the Europeans came over here uninvited with the misguided belief that they had the answers to the problems of the Native American culture, call it a cultural delusion.

But the Native Americans got back at them in a most covert manner. We Native Americans gave them tobacco, on of the most addictive substances on the planet.

You want to see a Brit lose all their cultural aloof demeanor? Watch one quit smoking cold turkey. I have actually witnessed a Brit do that... it was not pretty, funny yes, but not pretty.

Besides they gave us that nectar of the Gods... SCOTCH.

You hit the mark. Nobody else (outside Europe) suffers under the delusion they were doing any of their victims a favor.

When Indians were putting steel to each other or to the European invaders, I doubt a one of them thought he was carrying some religious mandate or "Indian man's burden" to bring civilization to the recipients, nor as he was carrying the spoils home.

Add cocaine to your list

lmfao....... Firstly you are straying way off topic in your anger. Secondly your rants are becoming more absurd.

Nice to see you give yourself a free pass, I doubt you are partially Spanish, as you claim. If you are, then your ancestry is equally to blame and possibly more so. For those same Spanish who granted British pirates to stay in the area.

I think you are just pissy because we sank your armada.

Oh FFS, this isnt an American forum. Alpha has said as much. Its just American owned.

History not your strong point then. If you wish to blame the English, then blame all those who invaded here prior to our existence. Then blame everyone who invaded anywhere since time began. Then blame every village who invaded another village, or tribe that invaded another tribe.

You would be at it all week and still not make a valid point.

First, wtf is rounders?

Now if you are trying to suggest that Baseball is not an appropriate game for adult men, actually males of all ages, to play, then for that sacrilege you will spend eternity in Newark New Jersey.

As for The Osmonds, Hanson and NKOTB, they were completely out of our control. Personally I blame the communists.

Project much?

The local English atrocities pale next to those of the cast-out Spaniards, but since the other English brought the matter up . . . though people in the United States would likely be interested in what "ethnic heritage" the Nicaraguan contras held (Bluefields is not any Spanish or Indian name.)

And the more Spaniards and English killed each other the better it was for the rest of the world, that only amounted to less criminals loose with warships. Nobody elsewhere cares about the struggles among the European ruling class as to which could lord over the others and the peones.

But nice try at diverting the thread yet again. Perhaps we should discuss your Opium War next, on the list of available Pandora's boxes you can open.

I seem to be more familiar with England's history then you are. That is a sad statement regarding your educational system.

The whole smallpox blanket thing is absurd anyway Peon. First I was told biological warfare was a british invention, it wasnt as poison had long been used as a weapon, unless we sold the natives blowpipes, or poisoned water systems.

But lets get back to the smallpox claim.
1) There was a letter suggesting the idea, I have never said otherwise.
2) There was a swiss officer in the British army who is said to have given smallpox blankets to the Indians.
3) There is a colonial militia leader, who later fought against the British who is said to have mentioned it in his journal.
4) There blanket incident took place a month before the letter was even witten.
5) This is said to prove the note in the letter was carried out, a whole month before the letter was even written.

The whole thing is as laughable as the posters who claim Britain magically started famines by stopping the fucking rain from falling.

I wont even start on the truth about Amritsar as unlike my adversaries Ghandi, good a film as it was, isnt exactly accurate.

jlf1961 -> RE: UK apology for India massacre? (2/26/2013 4:05:37 PM)

Polite, as I said in the beginning, apologies for things done years in the past are worthless.

Most posters seem to agree with this point.

Now as I have stated, in my opinion, the only things the British have to apologize for is exporting cricket and the spice girls.

And my statement about the Brits coming here uninvited under the misguided notion they knew what was best for the natives was sarcastic in nature.

The whole motivation for the Brits in the New World was to prevent the Spanish and French from getting a on up on the Brits, understandable.

As for the Spanish being more to blame, I tend to agree.

Pretty much the truth, at least regarding the Americas.

I fully agree, we can only apologise for that which happens in our lifetime if we dont speak up on it. You know I have been more critical of Blair for the Iraq invasion than Bush. The idiot is said to have said today that "He regrets the world isnt safer today than it was ten years ago, but if Saddam was about it would undoubtedly be much worse" Hardly a view anyone in the UK would agree with.
