Had a guy message me earlier from the US. After a couple of one liners offering to shove various things into various of my orifaces, he started talking about holding a gun to my head to make me do as he wanted; or even shoving it somewhere the sun don't shine! (Is there a lube for that?) I may have a slightly off centre profile, but I'm not here looking for anything that extreme and, to me, potentially lethal.

I haven't come across gun play within the context of bdsm before. Living in the UK, where gun ownership is pretty restricted, may have someting to do with it. Is my education sadly lacking? Is this an acceptable area of play for some people? Or was this guy the looney I suspected........

It's a pretty standard character in edge play scenes, I'd say.

Anecdote: a play partner said to me one day, "Let's each make a list of everyone we've played with, and see if we can remember all their names." She had been a prodomme for a while, so her list was much longer than mine, but she was mostly a sub. One man, whose name she couldn't remember, she wrote down as "Gun Guy." I asked her about this. He had fucked her with an unloaded pistol.

I'm totally into gun play from a conceptual point of view, though it'll probably always stay a fantasy for me.

Every guy I've met whom I judge to know enough about guns to actually risk this type of play with refuses on grounds that it'd be too dangerous, and every guy that has thought it a splendid idea and was all over trying it, I didn't consider knowledgable enough around guns to risk it.
The closest I've come to arranging this type of thing is talk about SimpleMichael to do an elaborate mindfuck with a fake gun. But that ended up falling through when I met my husband.

Whether or not it's an "acceptable area of play" I couldn't tell you (what does that mean anyways???). But I can tell you that this guy is by far not the only one, though it's not the most common of fetishes.

Gun safety training seeks to instill a certain mindset and appropriate habits by following specific rules. The mindset is that firearms are inherently dangerous and must always be stored carefully and handled with care. Handlers are taught to treat firearms with respect for their destructive capabilities, and strongly discouraged from playing or toying with firearms, a common cause of accidents.

The rules of gun safety follow from this mindset. There are many variations, and one of them is the Four Rules introduced by Colonel Jeff Cooper, which are:
1) Treat all guns as if they are always loaded.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4) Be sure of your target and what is beyond it

There's no way in hell that I'd consent to playing with a gun.

As UllrsIshtar said, those who know enough to be safe are unlikely to be inclined to participate. Put another way: If the gun's loaded, you're being incredibly stupid for a thrill. If the gun's not loaded, how's that thrill different from any other one?

Curiously, just after I posted this I switched on the tv and there was a programme on about the American love affair with the right to own guns. A little synchronicity there, I think. Thanks to you all for your insights. Erm....RedMagic, had he filed the sights off that pistol before reciprocating it inside your friend's bits.........I hope.......lol

Don't be terribly surprised that even some of us "gun loving Americans" aren't into this type of play. Personally, I have it so ingrained in Me that 1) every single gun should be treated as though it were loaded (even when you KNOW it's not) and 2) don't point a gun at a person unless you intend to shoot them, that I'd be really hideous at this. I can definitely see how it would be a turn on to some folks. I'm just not one of them.

Exactly LP.

There were several shootings (and some deaths) last year in San Diego by people who were experienced with firearms who thought the weapons were unloaded and played games with them.

The penalty for failure is extremely high.

I'd say this is one area I'd be in favor of gun control.

Fake gun, yes. Real gun, no.

With semi-autos, even w/the magazine empty, it's possible for a round to be in the chamber and not be able to see it.

Ain't worth the risk to me.

I'd be a little skittish to do it with a regular gun, but when I was in the military, a friend and I had a bit of fun with a rubber duck M16. Good times were had.

I can see how it might be appealing to use an unloaded gun as a mind f*ck, and how that might be appealing for someone. Hell, mind f*cks can be quite fun. I, personally, don't know enough about guns to judge if it'd ever be a safe thing to try and, therefore, would not try it. Maybe if I were more knowledgeable, I could find situations in which I might find it acceptable, but UllrsIshtar's post makes me think that this wouldn't be that case and that knowledge, if anything, would make me even more apprehensive of the risks.

I grew up with guns and learned about gun safety early on. I have no desire to play with guns that way. I have seen one or two pictures with a gun as a prop where I thought "well that's hot," but it was more about coercion than the gun itself, if that makes sense.
Guns are dangerous, not toys.

If the gun is a non functioning replica, then it's nothing but role play, and I'm not into role play.

If I do not know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that the gun is NOT a replica and you point it at me, I'm going to do everything you say until I get a good chance to whack you over the head, take that gun away, unload it and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

It's not common but it is done by those who are into risky, edgy bdsm. I know a couple of couples who partake in it. They have been around guns their entire lives, have taken numerous courses, collect them, know the workings inside and out.

Can an accident possibly happen? Yup, just like with anything. Master could hold a knife to my neck and if I accidentally move, he could slit my neck too. It's just another one of those things that you decide if the risk is worth it or not.

If it's not your bag, then just say no and find someone else.

My guns are expensive and very nice, I'm not using my guns to play.

If they have been around guns their entire lives and taken numerous courses, they would not be playing with them like that. I'll say a lot of things about the NRA and gun organizations being out in space about some things, but on gun safety they are first class, and the first thing they teach you is that guns are not toys and you never, ever fuck around with them like they are. They are violating the basic safety rules of gun ownership, the prime one, as many people have written, is always assume a weapon is loaded, if you aim it at someone, you should be in a position where you are doing so to shoot them, and if you aim to shoot them, you are prepared to kill them. Playing with real guns in a scene is asking for trouble, as someone pointed out, with semi automatic handguns (these days the most common kind), you can have a bullet in the chamber and not know it.

More importantly, I object to people doing that because a gun is a tool, a serious tool, and deserves to be treated as one. I was on a rescue squad at one point, and I have been called to scenes where someone accidentally shot themselves, and more times then not, it was because they treated the gun lightly, thought they knew what they were doing.

I can understand the thrill of it, in play acting or edge play, but it is edge play IMO done with the wrong thing. I am not a gun owner myself, but I respect them for what they are, they are serious weapon, not a toy. Among other things, if you 'play' with guns like that, it takes the idea out of your head how serious a thing they are. Knives and other forms of edge play are not as dangerous, they are things we use every day, guns are quite the different story. Yeah, you can get hurt with a knife, but it is in a totally different league then playing with real guns.

Exactly. And forming bad habits when it comes to gun safety can have serious repercussions. Ask the guy who was distracted, forgot to check the chamber and put a .45ACP through his femur while cleaning his gun. In his own words he became complacent about his gun safety.

I absolutely agree with this. Putting a gun against someone's head is a heck of a lot different than playing with a knife.

Like I said, it's extreme play. Yeah, guns are dangerous. That's the point. Some people enjoy that. I think the only reason Master has never used one on me is because neither of us has a gun.
