Never. Never, ever.

More than one hero has offed themselves with blanks (Jon-Eric Hexum comes to mind).

If you have a replica or demilitarized/rebarred piece, perhaps. And there are some replicas that look more realistic than some real guns.

But never a real gun. Ever.

You spelled "switches" wrong.

Some of the Airsoft guns look exactly like real guns. We have a 1911 Airsoft gun that unless you were looking up the barrel and knew what you were looking at....you'd never know.

If I had a sub who wanted gun play, I'd buy a prop gun and not tell her that it is a prop. (air guns don't count as prop guns either) I'm of the school that all (real) guns are to be considered loaded at all times period.

Just me.

With a real gun? Hell no. My husband has guns, he is very well trained how to handle them. The most basic lesson he taught our children is you never point a gun at someone unless you plan on shooting them. He has had a gun go off before when his finger was no where near the trigger. Only is strict safety with guns kept any of our kids from being hurt since they were in the room. There was a nice hole in the floor though.

You want to have a fantasy of having a gun to your head, get a real looking toy gun and play to your hearts content.

Just my opinion, but nothing ruins a good time faster than a homocide investigation. Not trying to look down on anyone's kink, but real guns aren't toys and shouldn't ever be used in this way. There is just way too much that can go wrong.

With a real gun, hell no.
There is no such thing as an 'unloaded' gun.
A gun should only be pointed at something you intend to poke a hole (or holes) in.
This was drilled into me from about age 6.

The problem with prop guns is that the good ones, at least where I live, are painted bright blue to distinguish em from real guns. Otherwise they look exactly like em, weigh the same, carry the same, except they cant fire.

Course, one real problem is that when it comes to guns, gals tend to (IMHE) run either real hot or real cold, with more leaning towards the latter. Pull out a gun on the wrong gal, which means most gals, she's gonna lock up, not think it's hot or sexy and then you've just killed your own scene.
And it sucks raw when ya do that.

About five years ago I was one of the organizers of a capture and interrogate scene that went on for 48 hours, involved 6 submissives/captives, 4 interrogators in balaclavas!, 2 moles and 1 psychiatrist.

Along with sensory deprivation and continual interrogation we used prop guns to induce fear. At one point a mole was removed from the other captives and ordered to be shot. The other captives saw him being dragged into another room and then heard the sound of a pistol going off. What actually happened was the mole owned his own starting pistol which he let off once alone.

Gun play is very edgy stuff if done with good planning but I agree with those who say it should always be done with a prop.

My husband has a gun that looks just like a real gun but it shoots harmless pellets. He got it to chase squirrels off the bird feeder but found it useful for our teenager when he got mouthy. It does not even hurt, well it stings a bit if it hits bare skin but on jeans or a thick shirt you can barely feel the impact. I was relly glad our neighbors knew us really well when DH was shooting our son when he did not have a shirt on and he squealed daddy please stop shooting me. Hilarious how a kid who could come home with purple bruises from football and find them cool squeals like a girl when it comes to his dad.

I've personally never known anyone who was into "gun play" (which in and of itself sounds like an oxymoron to me). If I knew of anyone who was into it I'd avoid them like the plague.
