The [numerous] polls I read didn't try to understand something as nebulous as "dislike of homosexuality". Rather they focused on the question of same sex marriage. There is no mistaking things. Younger people are vastly more supportive of same sex marriage than older people in all age brackets. In fact support for same sex marriage is more tightly correlated with age than many other social questions like abortion. Feel free to browse the various charts & graphs for yourself. This search in google images turned up a wealth of supporting evidence.

While my interpretation may have been wrong I think it was certainly reasonable. "reduced brain matter" means what exactly? (ignoring, of course, the fact that amount of brain matter means little when we're looking at intelligence). So were you simply discussing cranial capacity issues as a total non-sequitur?


Reduced brain matter... the inability or willingness to learn facts and inability to accept/process/change.... beliefs or information that is opposite to ones ingrained bigotry/upbringing/fear.

What's interesting is that the ice is shifting along two different axis. First, the older people are dying. Second, across all age brackets support for same sex marriage is getting more popular over time.

I wonder, however, if there's going to be a free USA left by the time any of this matters. Honestly, on the path Obama and his predecessors are taking us down nobody's going to give a rat's ass about piddly little shit like "gay marriage" or "abortion rights". Let's hope my tinfoil hat is just as ridiculous as it sounds, eh? It'd be nice to think that shit like "gay marriage" was important enough to warrant attention.

Brain size and smarts are, to some extent, genetic — and now, a team of more than 200 researchers has uncovered specific genes that are linked to both brain volume and IQ... At this spot, every C-allele variant was linked to not only lower intracranial volume, but also to lower IQ scores on the Multidimensional Aptitude Battery, a measure of intelligence.

Unfortunately, none of this seems to have much effect on the values people hold. I know some very intelligent people that I wouldn't trust to take care of a fucking houseplant.

I think that illustrates the real nub of the issue here, and it goes way beyond whether or not gays should be allowed to marry. At root, it's a matter of how we define "marriage". Gays are just one special interest group among many. What about polygamy or polyandry, for example? Do we just want rights for gays, or do we want them for everybody? Personally, I think the government should get out of the business of defining marriage altogether.

See, there's my beef in a nutshell. If gays (or fucking anybody) took the position that people should have a right to form whatever kind of life-union they want, be it straight, gay, polygamous, or polyandrous, without interference from some meddling nanny government, I would support them 100%. But that's not what gay marriage is about.

The push for gay marriage stakes out a position that is every bit as selfish and self-interested as the opposition, and I have no time for either of them. Granted, gays don't want to make hetero marriage illegal. But they don't seem to have a quibble with laws that push poly unions under the bus. So I fail to see any moral high ground there.
