http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/adam-lanza-newtown-search-warrants-released-131056789.html

Police investigating the school massacre here seized a small arsenal of firearms, knives and swords along with medical records and computer equipment from the 20-year-old gunman's home in the days after the shooting, court documents released Thursday reveal.

Also Thursday, Connecticut State Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III, who's overseeing the case, said that Adam Lanza killed 26 people within five minutes of storming into Sandy Hook Elementary School before turning a gun on himself.

If you think his "arsenal" was scary, you would shit a brick to see mine.

I recently acquired a nice combat shotgun, so that brings my total firearms up to 14 I believe...

Add to that 9 bowie knives, SAS dagger, ghurka knife, 7 bayonets from various eras, 4 machetes, and 9 fighting knives of various types.

I'm not a knife guy, I've got some big Randal Bowie Knife I got close to a decade ago and that's all I've used in hunting (dressing), but I've got the usual bayonets that tagged along with those surplus rifles I own (sitting in a bag with all its greasy goodness), but I would like a Ghurka knife just for the fun of it.

I'm now down to 18, thank you Obama and the hyperinflated market that only crested a couple of weeks ago (a Saiga 16" .223 with five thirty round mags for a grand is just plain bizarre, but I'm glad to have the money, then the reaping from AK and AR-15 variants was just bizarre, I wish I could have sold off my CETMEs and kept my FALs). I've sold ten firearms since Sandy Hook, thank you Gunbroker. I did get a Ruger SR9 in trade on some work I did for a friends Dad (whose wife hated the SR9 he bought for her). Four are surplus sort rifle (SVT40, Hakim 8mm, Swiss 1911, Springfield Trapdoor) collectibles. Eight pistols and six rifles, oh wait and that shotgun I always forget about so 19. I haven't shot it in five years but it gets cleaned every six month along with the other safe queens. Two of the pistols are black powder cap and ball types, one Ruger Old Army .44 (still need to get the cartridge conversion for it but for the price I could just get a Ruger Super Blackhawk 7.5" in six months), one ASM production CVA Colt Navy 1858 I think that supposed to be able to have a shoulder stock fit to it.

My next purchases over the course of the year are a Howdah 20 gauge black powder muzzle loader, MP-15 in .300 Blackout (if it can be got through S&W's Instructor purchase program), another Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casull that I can then send off to Pinnacle to have the .45 ACP conversion done (shoot .454 Casull, .45 Long Colt, and .45 ACP), and maybe a Kahr PM45.

Granted I'm holding onto some revolvers till I move out of .357 magnum (good revolvers are only going up in price). I'll sell my Spartan 1911 this year if I can get at least $475 for it, if not then I'll build a 9mm complete slide for it using a slide ordered from Caspian. I'm selling off my Romanian Tokarev (down to a thousand rounds and never got into reloading for it) at loss in October to finance another project. Soon as I get the Kahr PM45 I'll sell off my Rossi 462 for a couple hundred bucks (still in 90%+ condition). I'll sell off my Glock 23 soon as I have the next .454 Casull. Eh probably not. I'll just keep buying and buying and buying.

Guns are the next best investment to Gold as I've seen so far. I sold 20 bricks of .22lr for no less than $60 a brick that had been sitting in my closet since 2008 when i had bought them from Walmart over the course of a few years. Guns and ammo can be a hell of an investment so long as Dems still exist.

Actually, about half of them are AR15 styled rifles I use for hog hunting, then a 1911, 50 cal desert eagle, an M1A, 3 bolt action 308 hunting rifles and two shotguns.

That is not counting the antique and replica 19th century guns I have that I use during the Frontier Days shooting contest here in the area and surrounding counties.

Too many guns is one more than you have, so my number has moved around from 3 to 15, not saying where I am on that scale at the present, just that it is at neigther end

I would think that he confused body count with score.

I think for me the scariest was a reported file containing pictures of dead people. As to some many here all I can think of..is what Admiral Rickover said at a congressional hearing on Reagan plane for new ICBM. I am paraphasing "We have the ablity to destory this planet 35 times over, how many more times do we have be able to destory this planet before we feel safe." So much for the National Paranoia.

I am on the cats side.

After I reading some of the thread responses I was kind of dumbfounded and unable to respond. Later I began to think of the US stockpile of Nuclear Weapons and our insane amount of military spending. It's irrational, and it's unhinged. There's just no rational basis to it.

There's no rational basis to have a arsenal of weapons in one's suburban CT home, so the only fallback Gun Nuts have is "my Second Amendment rights."

Sadly, this is a destructive "right."

Nah I don't think jlf1961 was. It was probably just a fun response to a an ambiguous statement, I know mine was. Arsenals are what you make them. Firearms to many gunnies are just another tool. Their ownership is not inherently dangerous. You first have to keep ammo around for them, then load them, and then leave them in a state where a young child or dangerous individual can get to them in order for them to be dangerous typically, bearing in mind that a young child or dangerous individual gets their hands on them. I've watched ten year old hurt themselves foolishly with screw drivers and hammers, I've also learned of murders carried out with knives and hammers, I've accidentally cut myself while using a knife in the kitchen.

The idea that mere ownership of numerous makes someone dangerous is an idea most gunnies find absurd especially when you know gentlemen in their seventies who own over a hundred from a life time of buying firearms and those same said gentlemen have never harmed a single individual and will likely go to their reward never having harmed a person. What's scary is our society has no means of ready civil commitment for potentially dangerous or unhinged individuals and that a woman who got over 200k a year while sitting on her ass (got alimony) took no action to get her son help when it was obvious he needed a lot of help. If I'm working eighty hours a week and making 200k and it's obvious my kid has severe problems than I'm getting him the best help I can afford and if I think he's dangerous, all the guns in the house are getting disassembled, locked in the safe, and all the ammo tossed out of the house that isn't in my personal carry that never leaves my side. Not leaving my potentially dangerous kid with access to my firearms.

Question: If the only certainty you had of keeping your firearms out of the hands of a mentally unstable family member was to remove them from the house, would you do so?

Oh, I know that.. but its not just terms like that that put you in a bad light.. its that ya'll worship the dam things.. I was simply pointing out that you dont need an "arsenal" to do a hell of a lot of damage.. people that think they need more than one gun scare the poop outta me..
