Seriously. How do you use a site where 95% of the messages and profile views you receive are CLEARLY spam accounts? At the very least they could flag accounts with the SAME URL in every profile description or members that claim to be "native american" and are clearly not.

Add your post to the million plus we get per week around here.

Collarme is a free site, thus, they don't have to do anything.

It is up to individuals to police themselves. If you feel something is suspect, report the profile or message.

You can read the TOS first to see how to do it.

Geezzz you're lucky! I can't say 95% of my messages are one thing or another, but a great majority are silly whacked out, all too real horny guys with a stiffy in my face.

I'm well aware of the tools at my disposal and I do report them but there are simple programming techniques they can use to filter out SPAM accounts. Just because a site is free doesn't mean they don't make any money and even if they are not its still in the best interest of a site's longevity to make sure its userbase is protected from phishing, spambots and other malicious activity.

Why don't you volunteer to help the site?

They just added a new button called Volunteer on the other side; if you feel they could be doing a better job.

I have been on here a while and never once had any issues with the site, other than the idiotic men who write me.

But that is a human problem, not the site's fault.

Your best strategy is to open a petition at the website of the White House. The president will reply to the petition once one hundred thousand people have indicated their support for the petition.

I do my part. I report SPAM accounts when I find them. This is an issue that must be handled by the programmers of the site, not the individual members.

I hardly think this is a priority for the Obama administration, unless collarme was included in the NSA spy program.

Well, not sure what to tell you other than this has been discussed many, many times so you need to write directly to support, not here.

It could also be your profile. Sometimes what someone is seeking triggers these types of replies.

I think you should complain.

Sorry, no can do. The programmers are all occupied trying to write a program that deletes all the threads that complain about spam, which is a far more pressing problem.

Pst... some of us are native american. [;)] And yet I look "white".

Go figure.

It's your avatar, it confuses them. :)

Yeah, but you're not ALL native american, white, blond hair with professional lighting in model poses.

(I have from the very first moment suspected that the NSA owns CM.)

SeekingTrinity -> RE: Collarme needs to do a better job of policing its userbase (6/13/2013 11:00:25 AM)

~FRing it~

You should demand that CM return all fees paid by you for membership right away! Didn't pay membership fees, you say? Then I suggest the next best thing...delete and move on with life.

tazzygirl -> RE: Collarme needs to do a better job of policing its userbase (6/13/2013 11:00:42 AM)

I think you need to push the assumptions aside. I have red hair, brown eyes, pale skin, but my father is half Sioux. My mother German and Irish. And while, yes, a number of profiles are popping up as "native american" its usually those who confuse the phrase as meaning something other than what it means to most of us.

Best description I have seen lately was... Indian with a dot as opposed to Indian with a feather. They arent meaning either. They mean it as in a native of France, or a native of Germany.

In other words.... there isnt anything the site can do beyond vetting... and unless you are willing to start paying to use the site, thats not going to happen.

So, utilize your block feature and move on.

RedMagic1 -> RE: Collarme needs to do a better job of policing its userbase (6/13/2013 11:01:13 AM)

If it takes ten seconds to recognize a profile isn't something you want, and then to click "Hide Profile," then hiding 100 profiles takes 1,000 seconds. That's less than 17 minutes of browsing time.

I just don't see why this is a big deal. Even if the 95% figure were true, which hasn't been my personal experience, it's barely an inconvenience. It takes at least twice as long to buy groceries for the next couple days.

Of course, it's up to you whether you want to solve problems, or be defeated by them.
