thankyou. I respect your right to carry and gun and your reasoning for doing so. Unfortunatley our cultures are so different in this matter i think we will never agree. Maybe if i lived in the usa i would change my mind - i never say never. I just think the world would be far better without guns but understand that to a certain extent they are needed.

MSTRDOUGLAS - You are just the kind of person in my opinion that should not be allowed to carry guns. UNLOCKED - how irresponsible!! What if a child managed to get hold of them? And dont say they couldnr because nothing is 100% certain.

you would rather carry a gun than have graffitti in your area???????
I think you need to reaccess your priorities there.

While I'm not sure about the correlation involved, I wonder about your priorities.  He says he seems to have a quite little town with few of the things that concern most of us and you somehow see it was an evil place simply because many of the inhabitants chose to go armed.  Would you really feel it would be better if there were gangs running around vanalizing property?

Aren't you really sort of behaving with sort of an unthinking prejudice against firearms?

I consider myself a reasonable shot.  but I never shoot against my sister.   she  picked up one of my rifles and started striking stick matches.   Never again.

With respect i have been in situations where if i had had a gun and had used it things may not have happened to me. However i would never even had one been in my hand have chosen to use it. It would in my opinion make me not better than the person attempting to commit the crime / felony against me.

How would it "not make you better"? The criminal is trying to kill you because he wants your money; you use a gun to prevent this. In the morally superior sweepstakes, you come out way ahead, in my opinion.

That was my example; kill you, not just take your money. And I'm not trying to belittle your opinion on this; I respect that you don't want a gun.

Sorry i read it wrong. However my opinion does not change. I could not take someone elses life.

By Joves! We seem to have a gun infestation here! *pepper sprays them all*

Seriously, let's all agree that 1. it's naughty to kill, 2. it's bad to kill, 3. it's awful to kill, 4. guns are weapons of killing.

*curtesies* thank you all.

Have agreed with myself since 1972.

And on at least two separate occasions being armed has kept me from behing killed or is it my death would somehow be good.

Oh yes, on another occasion, not being armed got me tortured, the scars of which are still visible 30 years later, but then by your standards that was good... I didn't have gun with me.

Try a 5... it's better to kill than to be killed

Funny thing about Gor...women learn to shoot faster and more accurately than men, in fact, men are VASTLY harder to teach to shoot well or handle firearms correctly.  I wonder if the same is true of swords...

My ex shot everything up to crew served weapons (MG34 and MG42, plus MKIIS sten) and I tought her how to outshoot everyone around us.

This is not surprising at all;  a man trains his entire days with a sighting system that is monocular, and far away from the projectile opening, impossible to align in any fashion realiably,  and if drunk (as is usually the case) are inclined to close both eyes while spraying the projectile material.

Women have no need to sight  by virtue of the firing posture having an interlocutory link to the aiming system.

There is no graffitti in my town.
The last rape (reported) was almost 5 years ago.
The last murder at least ten years.
We do not carry fire arms.
I have already said but for your benefit of either not reading it, missing it or ignoring it i respect anyones rights to carry a gun where legal but i choose personally not to. Funnily enough there is another world than the usa and i live in it and like it.

You're welcome; and I would much rather gaze at you and your shoe collection than a gun, for what it's worth .
And if you ever come visit (and I own a gun at the time, I'll keep it hidden under the bed lol.

How about a 'Show and Tell'?

Since all the boys and gurlz talk about ammo, I'm going to get into the benefits of calf leather skin (gun shot) versus lizzard.

Meow, I am stroking my shoes. Hmmmmm... feels kinda nice... hmmmmm...

Actually I have no standards, but I have convictions (and not of a criminal nature, I hasten to add).

When you ban guns only criminals will have them. They can enter your home without fear of
reprisal. When Australia banned guns the crime rate went through the roof.

The one thing that makes invading the USA so difficult is the enemy not only has to
worry about our army but a well, armed citizenry.

I currently don't own a gun but I have. It's out right to own guns IF we want to own them.
That doesn't mean we HAVE to own them except in places previously mentioned in this
thread.
