Consistency. That is what I ask for. If I as a hard working person must endure the tests. Then I expect my fellow Americans - who may very well fully deserve my help to get them back on their feet and to make sure that they are safe and warm .... To do the same. Because otherwise, they are not living up to their end of the deal ... There is a deal - I do my best, I help give a safety net to those IN NEED, and they do their best to recover ... I'm not sure why Thomas is a member of the Supremes,(how the fuck did he get past that confirmation hearing ?)but this was an ill advised way to make a point....valid though the point most certainly is.

His denial is pure, undiluted, bullshit which asks all of us to believe that a history major and a lawyer that was eyeing a post on the state election committee doesn't understand the full force and effect of calling an African American man "Uncle Tom". I will defend this guy in one way: I find it hard to believe that there's a person on earth that hasn't said something similar to this ... they *know* it's a racial statement. At that particular moment, they don't care. Here's where I'm going to open up a whole new can of worms: I don't think one moment in a person's entire life makes them a racist. I don't believe this guy's a racist (although he might be; I just don't feel like researching his history) based upon one incident. I do believe that he was engaging in race baiting, which has become part of the stock-in-trade for the Dems, on the whole. Peace and comfort, Michael
