You do know how they fucked up in that case, yes?

In the first trial?
They did everything wrong highlighted by that stupid glove display.
They charged a famous person.

I am speaking of the jury. I have no clue how the glove fits into this discussion.

When they let OJ try on the largest size glove of a make he had been proven to own that had soaked in blood for a year with him knowing that if they didn't fit over rubber gloves he would walk.
There were so many mistakes which are you referring too?

The argument that because Mr. Zimmerman walked after Mr. Martin and asked him who he was and what he was doing this constitutes provocation is pretty far fetched. I don't know if Mr. Zimmerman is guilty but if he is it's not because of that.

Who told you that Zimmerman identified himself and asked Martin anything?

no one said he identified himself, but the girl on th phone said she heard zim ask him why he was there...

sooo the witness told us!

The actual jury itself.

Come on, you guys have been bitching about this trial for this long and NONE of you have heard the issues about the OJ trial?

farglebargle -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (7/1/2013 4:52:18 PM)

The investigator then played a 911 call made by one of Zimmerman’s neighbors, which captures screaming in the background and the gunshot that killed Martin.

"You hear that voice in the background? That's you. You hear yourself?" asked Serino.

"That doesn't even sound like me," said Zimmerman.

Bullshit, the duty to retreat and the castle doctrine are common law derived from English common law from at least the 1760's.

Castle doctrine refutes the duty to retreat in your home. Thus the two concepts are in conflict.
Castle doctrine also presumes that the victim can ascertain danger before being shot at or pummeled. Stand your ground merely assumes that you do not lose this ability when you leave your property. I find it interesting how much time is spent here blaming SYG when both the prosecution and the defense agree that it is not relevant.

The principle is that in your home there is no where to retreat. Outside your home you are supposed to try and avoid killing someone else except under the direst of circumstances. It both makes sense and worked for centuries.

actually I do not beleive that is the priniciple, I think the priniciple is that inside your home/castle you have no obilgation to retreat becuase they are clearly invaders

Regarding this thread: I've never seen so many people with a hard-on for "justifiable homicide." Their own wish-fulfillment complex trumps all objectivity and common sense.

I wonder if they would feel the same way if their son or wife was killed in a similar fashion while walking home in their own neighborhood, talking on the telephone.

tazzygirl -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (7/1/2013 4:56:02 PM)

Because many have a vigilante mentality.

I'd go further and say the 9mm short and most of weapons made to fire it should only be carried by people who want to get killed

What caliber/ammo do you prefer.
I always yammered on and on about my dislike of, say, .357 Mag, .44 Mag, .22 Mag, and any other cartridges such that the bullet would almost without fail exit the body of the target with enough remaining energy to kill someone else. Likewise ammo- FMJ, in many calibers, overpenetrates; hollow points and specialty (pre-fragmented) ammo impart more energy to the target, do more tissue damage to the target, and are less likely to pass through the target and kill an innocent bystander.

I don't think very highly of handguns. If I had to carry I'd carry a 1911 in .45ACP. Yes, it would over penetrate but it is reliable and it will kill anyone I have to shoot.

For home defense I prefer a .12 gauge.

No, the 45 ACP would not over penetrate even with FMJ ammo. Also I'm wondering what a .20 caliber Saturday night special is that you mentioned on a previous post is ????

You've never heard of a Saturday Night Special? The technical term is junk guns. They are very cheap guns made to fire low powered ammo. A lot of states ban their sale but in the 70's they were very common. They used to come in a wide variety of calibers although thinking back it may have been .25 that was the common one.

OK I read that three times and not one of the witness's said zim was on top before the shooting...

the only thing even close is, "Neighbor Selma Mora testified Thursday "that after she heard what she now believes was a gunshot, she rushed outside and saw the man who survived the fight on his knees straddling Trayvon," according to The Orlando Sentinel. "That man then stood up and began pacing, she said.”

but that was after the shooting had already happened...

Martin was not killed while walking home. He was killed while he attacked, mauled and perchance tried to kill an innocent person.

The parents obviously are in it for the money. In my opinion they ought to be prosecuted themselves for having produced a son who was a thug, a burglar, a gang member, a drugs dealer, all out aggressive person, a racist, and someone who refused to share his candy.

truckinslave -> RE: Zimmerman Trial - LIVE (7/1/2013 5:12:48 PM)

OMG

I just read an unbiased article, and I truly have been trying to keep an open mind. CNN published this, and it really has me questioning my preconceptions:

The forensic evidence clearly establishes that George Zimmerman was trying to induce an earthquake by banging the back of his own head against the concrete while simultaneously and viciously smashing his nose against Trayvon Martin's fists while St. Trayvon was screaming for help in frantic fear for his life as he straddled Zimmerman completely unable to get his fists out of the path of Zimmerman's head.

That Nazi Spic bastard Zimmerman's crime is all the more diabolical as he cleverly alerted the Sanford police to the fact that he was stalking the sweet angelic 10 y/o St. Trayvon and gave them his name and address, calling them to the scene of his planned assassination, timing his nefarious call so that the police would be sure to arrive while he was still on the scene and thereby establish his alibi. Fortunately MSNBC's Reverend Al Sharpton of Tawana Brawley fame was able to expose the racist conspiracy between the Sanford police and George Zimmerman thereby preventing Zimmerman from escaping the social justice due for the millions of Trayvon Martins brutally assassinated every year by WHITE hispanics like George Zimmerman.

Thank Gaia that The Messiah Barack Hussein Obama was able to intervene and vouch for St. Skittles to prevent his name from being tarred with allegations of burglary, delinquency, drug use and brawling.

You don't find that odd behavior from someone who, supposedly, moments before had been under a violent completely out of control thug who was both trying to bash his head in and take his weapon that made him so afraid for his life that he had to shoot him? That he had shoved the corpse off of him, rolled over or otherwise moved to straddle it and then remained there for long enough that the witness got outside to see it?

12 people not smart enough to get out of jury duty 9 black 3 white I think, paid more attention to the evidence than jury make up.
