That is no sort of kink at all. That is human slavery and it is detestable. The moment you start mandating this stuff at the societal level it turns pure evil instantly.

I can't see it as a kink.

As an atheist I just think it's a bit of biblical nonsense with no more relevance to real life than anything John Norman wrote.

There are Christian D/s - Taken in Hand groups that use Bible quotes like those as the purpose for their relationships.

(they also believe that Female Dominant / male submissive relationships are abhorrent)

Similar to taken in hand.
...and also what I endured in my early marriage. It presupposes the premise that women are incapable of having the reasoning to think for themselves. In reality it pushes them to believe they cannot make a move until given permission. For me, it took my art, my creativity, my poetry and writing, and replaced them with food because that is the only area in which I was allowed to shine, without it being claimed by my husband.

What I don't like about it is that too many men involved in religious based households is that they pay great attention to the "trangressions of the wife" and seem to ignore the

It's Iron and Bronze Age patriarchy only kinky to some
in retrospect.

The verses from Timothy ( found in the New Testament)
were tacked on after Paul to soothe the anxieties of
early church fathers. Women had a vital role in the
development of Christianity. They were active leaders
in the spread of Christianity. The teachings they were
responding to said that before God there was no male
or female, the sexes were equal in the sight of God.
They were also responding to the social conscience that
Christianity promoted. Taking care of the poor and sick,
the importance of community and looking after one another

The verses about woman not instructing man were put there
to keep women out of leadership positions in the organized
church. They are evoked to keep women from being allowed
to be priests in the Catholic Church and from being ministers
in some Protestant sects(as well as forbidden from teaching
Sunday school to males who have reached puberty) .

First, I didn't post this as a religious question so I don't agree that it belongs in religion. I posted it because it comes from a book that many people say they live by and don't question any part and because it calls for submission, although a sexist submission. I'm personally not religious and therefore don't give any of these writings any special weight. In fact, the Timothy section is offensive in my opinion.

In particular, I wanted to see responses from people in Dom/sub or TPE/IE relationships. It's interesting how offended some were and it would be interesting to know more about why that is true. I think some see some of this as slavery because they don't see the huge demands this puts on the husband. To me it seems a little like a special type of Dom/sub. Explain how that thinking is wrong and remember, this is not religious at all. Don't give me any God demands, just use logic. Make if a fun discussion.

Your post had nothing to do with consent and everything to do with mandated oppression. So how is that kink or d/s? I'm not offended I just simply don't see consent being part of what you posted, ergo I think it belongs in the religion section too.

You say wanted a fun discussion -- about what? I don't see a question nor a stance to be challenged so what specifically did you think was noteworthy?

Meh, I don't really find religious discussion "fun." Im not about to go making light of someone's belief system for shits and giggles. It can be considered offensive to those who believe this way...and Im not about to disrespect someone by making fun of them because of it.

I get that you were trying to be all controversial and provocative. You shouldn't get all bent out of shape when people elect not to follow along.

I think it depends. I took the writing in context which means I treated it as a social mandate. In that sense it is pure evil (and right from the lips of God no less).

Taken out of context and applied at the individual level then it's what Carol and I do san's religious handwaving.

By the way, no amount of burden on the part of the master changes whether or not it is slavery. Consent is what does that.
