See, that is why I cannot and refuse to EVER pass judgement on any one person for the choices they make. All I can do is express my feelings and opinion for myself personally.

I wonder, if those who suggest adoption as opposed to abortion consider this: You carry that child, you go through the pain of pregnancy, the tears, kicking etc. You become attached to this baby growing inside of you that you know you cant support together for whatever reason. You go through the HELL of birth, and when the doctor puts that tiny squalling baby in your arms, you hold it close, and wonder how you ever made something this perfect. Then it's taken away from you, and put into the arms of another family, who know nothing of the hell you went through. Yeah... That sounds like a wonderful alternative. Except not. Or the girl who takes every precaution she can, ends up pregnant anyway, and lives in... oh I dont know, alabama or something... Deep Bible belt in any case. I'm not sure she has much of a choice either. I believe someone mentioned that abortions should be allowed up to 10 weeks, and thats it. A great friend of mine is a BBW. She got pregnant at the age of 15, and had absolutely no clue until she was 13 weeks. She was on the shot, which stops your period for 3 months, therefore she wasnt expecting one anyway. While I respect other peoples opinions, that child could hae ruined her life, and if she was only allowed to abort up to 10 weeks, she would have been screwed. I say live and let live.

What an ironic choice of words.

I think this is an area..where we all have strong feelings one way or another.. I have sat back and watched the thread..not sure whether to write anything or not.. because I do have very strong feelings..just as every one else.  I don't judge anyone else..and I do see different points of view...but this is just how I feel about it...nothing more.

I know my own personal struggle to be a mommy..and how hard it has been.  There have been doctors visits.. social workers (they do that when you buy sperm)... waiting and praying that this time it might actually work..then being heart broke when it didn't.  Trying to keep from bursting into tears when you are in a store and see a little one...or packing away all the things you bought when you thought the procedure had actually worked.  It's knowing you are getting older everyday..and with that..the chances of having a baby are getting lower and lower.  It's still holding out hope somewhere in your heart and mind..that you will get to finally have the family you want someday...

All of the above..and more... is why I don't agree with it.  I know that for the month..when we thought the symptoms were there (we couldn't check because of fertility drugs)..that I spent many a night laying there..rubbing the tummy.. talking to her...kissing her...calling her by name...planning her birth...her future...the fun times...the discoveries she would have on this earth....even her children..and how beautiful my grandchildren would be...  Silly, I know..but to me.. she was as real..as any child that had already been born..she was our Ruby..and we were her mommies.

I still have a lot of trouble when I am out..and see a baby.. or am near the baby aisle in the store..and even as I was packing..running into little ballet slippers..or the stuffed horse... my heart would break over and over again....

See, I don't sit in judgment.. I don't call anyone names...I just know..that for me....there is no way I could do it...none.

Do I think the choice should be there?  Not for accidents (I can't believe I just called a baby that)....but in cases of rape.. or incest..something like that.. I would have to examine my heart..and make a decision then.  Not every situation..can be generalized...and I make no point to try.

If abortion becomes illegal, I think people should then be allowed to do as God intended.. and eat their young instead.

Hell, if that Yates woman gets off, all a woman would have to do is blame it on post-partum depression.

Sometimes you have to take a difficult situation and turn it around and make it a better one. No matter if you are pro-life or pro-choice, one does what one has to do and hopefully draws from the positive of what they decide and makes the most from it.   That is about all you can do, since it is a decision you can never take back.

Oh man.  Is the a can of worms?

This is how I believe.  I believe for myself that abortion is not an option; however, I believe the woman has the right to choose.

I think it goes back to how we are raised.  If we all started living the way we are supposed to live, we would not have to answer this question.
Now, I think that if a woman finds out she is pregnant, she should have thirty days to decide if she wants an abortion.  After that time period, I think it is wrong.
If we take responsibility for our own actions, we would not have these type problems.
Sorry for preaching.  It came out.
Respectfully,  Mistress_Jan

As the product of an unwanted pregnancy, the idea of abortion horrifies me.

If my mother had decided to abort me, I wouldn't have been asked what my opinion on the matter was. No one would have asked me if I wanted a chance to live, to breathe, to see the sky or watch the sunset over the ocean or dance or feel or love ...

I would have simply ended up so many tiny parts in a jar ... Thrown away and forgotten.

I am also the "result" of an unwanted pregnancy.  My father wanted me aborted, my mother didn't want to do it.

Personally, it doesn't change my stance on abortion at all - I don't think it should be the *first* form of birth control, but I think it should be an available option.  For the woman.

Unfair to the men involved?  Maybe.  But it's not their bodies carrying the baby - which, technically, is a parasite until it's viable.

I'm not anti-pregnancy, or anti-baby, or any of that - but I believe that abortion is the woman's choice, bottom line.

If she has a close relationship with the father, then she'll consider his wishes - because that's what people in close relationships do.  But it's not his decision.

Sperm and eggs are no more "alive" than neurons.  They are single cells that have a mission - and enact that mission.   They have movement, yes.  but they do not "live".

They are live but can only survive in the right environment like all life.

Just a philosophical point and nothing to do with the general discussion. I believe in abortion because women would still abort if it was illegal which I said earlier in the thread.

I'm not trying to be a bitch here but....so many miscarriages, an abortion....and above all else, your wish not to have children and possibly carry on those genetic problems.....why wasn't some reliable or more reliable form of birth control being used? Even sterilization in your case if you were comfortable in the decision to bear no more children.

As I said....not trying to be a bitch...just trying to understand.

I've heard of cases of two or more types of birth control being used, and the woman *still* got pregnant.  I've heard of cases of *both* parties being sterilized, and the woman still getting pregnant.

While these things are rare, they happen.

Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on aboration.  I believe its the woman's choice.

Going to the dentist to have a tooth pulled is a woman's choice as well. I think there is a lot more to abortion than that.
