I was just wondering what kind of work you all do?  And whether or not you're dominant, submissive or switch?
Do you think there's any correlation between the type of work one chooses to do and their dominant/submissive personality?

Self employed metal worker, I make armor. I'm a Top, I do poorly with bosses over my head.

ClassAct2006 -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:24:20 AM)

Kind of service related professional. I'm submissive and I don't like to manage people but I've worked around that and been very successful so it's fine.

impishlilhellcat -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:27:14 AM)

I'm a submissive and I currently work as a Teaching assistance at a University while working on my PhD

sapphirepleasure -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:30:00 AM)

I'm an educator, and as a submissive I find that what motivates me is inspiring and guiding my students.  I hate discipline and classroom management and thankfully don't have to deal with it often because my students are generally very devoted to me and sense my commitment to their success.  I do have rules which I enforce to avoid anarchy, though.

I think that where one falls on the Dom/sub continuum probably influences how they do their job as much as it does what kind of job they choose.

Curiossdragnlily -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:30:28 AM)

i am a nurse and have found many other slave/submissives on other sites and groups are also nurse. That has been a topic of discussion amongst M/many. Is there a correlation? For us it has been something we have pondered.
Thank you for the question.
with respect,

Fabrication Specialist (fancy term for a welder/miracle worker) in a Mining and Construction Equipment factory. I'm a Dominant male... I don't find any correlation between My job and My Dominant side... other than everyone comes to Me with problems at work ("how should I go about fixing this?").... I also don't do all that well with a boss over My shoulder.

ArtimisBlack -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:40:31 AM)

I'm a Dominant, currently a secretary but I plan on becoming the Creative Director at a advertising agency.

TolerableCruelty -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:41:34 AM)

so, Aileen... what type of work do you do ?

Aileen68 -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:42:42 AM)

I'm a wildly unsuccessful frustrated artist.
But I'm enjoying the ride.  :)

I'm submissive.

Independent contractor as a Field Service Rep for a major computer firm. Dominante Male. Yes I think it does. As most of the Dom males in the group replied.

My boss is 2200 miles away. I get my dispatches over the internet. Leaves my schedule open and flexiable. Plenty of time to spend with my slave..>:)

I'm a Female Dominant, working in the IT field in Project Management.  I do not have any "direct reports" in this position (though I have had as many as 30 in previous positions and most likely will again in the future), however I am responsible for directing the activities of contractors and getting the job done.  I suppose in My case there is a correlation between the type of work I have chosen and My desire to exercise control.

Nonetheless, I don't think there is always a correlation.  Sometimes I have had very successful Type-A male submissives responding to My profile.  Some have been high-powered attorneys in law firms, managers of divisions over hundreds of employees, doctors, etc.  I think some people seek a balance in their lives by wanting to surrender control to another after they have been in control at work all day.  Personally, I don't understand it, but then again, I'm not a submissive.

I am a residential contractor  ,ie home improvements.i realy dislike the sales part of it , but its the only way one can make a decent wage at the trades any more! I am a switch. Joe

champagnewishes -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:52:23 AM)

I currently hold a regional Administrative position for a large, well known, national company.  I am submissive...but love having the power at work [:)].

Level -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:53:42 AM)

I work in a Justice of the Peace court; at present, my job consists of using our computer systems to chase folks down, we also do mental health warrants, weddings, small claims suits, evictions, and occasionally lend our shoulders to be bawled upon.

I have some aspirations to one day be da Judge, so I can wear a robe with nothing on underneath while banging my gavel [8|].

LaTigresse -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:54:15 AM)

Very cool question! I am dominant and  I manage a small printing company. I suppose being bossy makes it easier to run a shop with a bunch of guys of various ages. I was thinking how it all fits together. I have been self employed in the past. Most of my jobs I started at an entry level position then was moved up to some sort of leadership role. I don't have a problem working under people as long as they are fair hard workers themselves. My biggest problem is that somewhere between 5-10 years I start getting bored, the job loses its challenge and I get restless. I have done all sorts of work but now I am trying to give more effort to my artistic hobbies to keep my brain occupied.

I am also an IT project manager and I am a submissive.  At the end of the workday of constant directing and problem solving the last thing I want to do is be in charge.  My Master is in IT at the managerial level.  It is very nice to have a shared profession.

slaveintheruff -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 12:00:50 PM)

Good Afternoon1  This is my first time posting.I am a caregiver for elderly who are house bound. I provide them with physical and occupational therapy,shopping,,companionship, and so forth. Its my ideal job aside from learning  and working towards my destiny

acissej -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 12:04:05 PM)

I'm a fiction editor and a submissive.  I don't think there's any real correlation between the two for me--though when first starting out in publishing, it does help if you're a masochist.  [>:]  I still have to grovel in front of my higher-ups, but at least I now have a stable of authors who I get to boss around.
