I was just wondering what kind of work you all do?  And whether or not you're dominant, submissive or switch?
Do you think there's any correlation between the type of work one chooses to do and their dominant/submissive personality?

I own a local construction company  as well as a national firm that I travel extensively for that licenses a patent to numerous companies nationwide that I recieved in the mid 90's.

<Sub.

No correlation.  I is what I is.

Actually, I would just like to toss in that in order to,......... well, mostly to have in on my resume, I will prolly be heading off to butler school in the Netherlands sometime next year.  Figure it might be a valuable asset as a sub and in hospitality.

Yours,

benji

Aneirin -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 3:10:05 PM)

I am submissive and a Licensed Professional Counselor.  I own my business and have had to learn to be one tough bitch when needed and is needed more than i would like it to be.  Prior to that i was a state probation and parole officer for 18 yrs.

diamond, I imagine both the counseling and probation officer jobs were tough; I have a lot of respect for both professions.

Okay, back on topic - I'm in food and beverage in 2 very nice hotels, prolly soon to be Ass. F&B Manager, unless I succeed in getting my boss fired, in which case I would become F&B Manager.  Love being in control, hate having a boss above me interfering, and will prolly soon start my own business.  Am a very laid back, fun boss, but I have pity on the people who don't do their jobs.  Actually, I don't have pity.  I have a very neat process to remove them from my presence.  I don't deal well with internal politics, shoot from the hip, and get stuff done.

I'm submissive.

Yours,

benji

benji, I can see you being fun to work with; I imagine the hotels are full of kinksters too, might be hard to find them out though.

The butler school, could be a good idea. Shows initiative, which domme-ly sorts like heh heh.

Hello All...This has always been an intriguing topic for me.  i have had so many "professions."  i have been a high school teacher, head teacher in adult men's maximum security prisons, secretary, paralegal, bartender, strip dancer...not necessarily in that order...but what i realized is that in all my jobs, i created the job more than the job created me; and in that creation, i served and do serve in many ways.  i cannot be happy in any job in which i am not doing that.  So in that way, there is a correlation, yes.

Fascinating, star. I wonder what you taught in prison?

twicehappy -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 3:23:44 PM)

I am a 24/7 collared slave.

I was a visiting nurse for over 18 years and prior too and during that time i was also a stripper part time for 16 years and a bartender for 8 years. I also routinely worked out of a motorcycle shop when needed, a family pizza shop when needed and when i retired took up motorcycle work full time.

I was an EMT for seven years and for the past four I am an Emergency control operator (911) for  14 ambulance services and 23 fire departments as well as an RCMP pod. I love my job and when I am at work I am the typical A-Type personality, I thrive on stress and no day is ever the same as the next....

I am a masochistic bottom, with a strong desire towards submittion. *s*

I have run pubs, wished I worked in the porn industry, and have been told I'm worse than a large group of special needs children.

desertdancer -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 3:51:23 PM)

I used to belly dance professionally which was a fun job.  Which is where my screen name comes from.

Now I'm just a cosmetologist, i wax, massage and give haircuts. For a while I worked in a spa for men, and whoah, I never knew men could have such high pitched screams when in pain... Below the belt waxing is torture, and sadly I'm not sadistic, however the girl I worked with was I think, because every time a man dropped his pants she would burst out into loud fits of giggles, which you could hear through out the spa, which got me giggling! Ug, those poor  men, I hope we didn't ruin to many ego's * blushes*

Edited for my lack of being able to finish a thought

Vendaval -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 4:01:28 PM)

I am finishing a post-graduate certificate program.  Before I returned
to college full time I worked in the mental health/social services field.
Eventually, I hit burn out and could not continue.

Like many of the other Dom/mes here, I do not do well with a boss looking
over My shoulder and am not one to suffer fools.

Is there a correlation between career fields and where a person
falls on the sub-switch-Dom/me continuim?  I say yes.

Many of the subs/slaves are in service occupations, many as
nurses, secretaries, tech support, etc.

Since I live in California and go to events in both the Bay Area
and Los Angeles;  the occupations of the Doms tend to be
engineers, computer engineers, network administrators,
and so forth.  The Dom/mes tend to be either IT, counselors
or spiritual advisors, or artists/performers.

Many of the men who seek Dommes are high level executives
of one form or another, in business, law, IT, or entertainment.
A frequent comment from these types of men is that they want
to surrender control and not have to be in charge while with
the Domme.

The other side of this is the high number of current or previous
military persons who seek the protocol and physical endurance,
if not extreme pain, at the hands of a Dominatrix.  I am most
frequenly contacted by current or former Marine Corps persons.

YMMV,

Vendaval

desertdancer,

It's very easy to get into...contact your local hobby store, such as Hobby Lobby or Michael's and find out when the next Wilton Course I starts.  If you'd like to find out more about it, email me on the other side...

desertdancer -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 4:34:27 PM)
