If by debunked you mean "proven true", then you are correct.

No less a lib than Mark Halperin of Time recently discussed the IPABs.... unelected bureaucrats will, as a matter of fact, decide what treatments will be approved, and for whom. Death panels.

American Thinker

LOL. The American Thinker.  EE-YUL!!! EE-YUL!!! EE-YUL!!!
Mark Halperin.  A Lib?  Isn't he sort of just your average slimy hack reporter along the lines of Limbaugh, OReilly, Hannity, Breitbart, Drudge, and other such shit as that?

What is his expertise beyone Palins in that he is some authority on death panels?  Aren't they both provably rather mentally defective and generally fucking cretinous?

How is it 'proven true' to other than a fucking slobbering lunatic?

Anyone who thinks that there are any effective curbs on the federal government simply isn't paying attention.

The CAC has the power to advise.... BFD.
...the IPAB is barred from recommending cuts to healthcare that threaten Medicare beneficiaries access to care....

How many lawyers will it take to define that into something unrecognizable? One? Two? They have tens of thousands.

but all you have ins paranoia... an ignorance of insurance death panels, and they are just bean counters. not regulated.

Hey man, I agree. When the right wants to go from $5 trill in surplus to $6 trill more in debt...start two new wars...create a 1/2 trill new drug benny...among a long list of more corruptions...they get it done.
The dems...mere amateurs.

I must have missed something in the past few years.
When, exactly, did we have a 5 trillion dollar surplus?

It was the "gift" from Clinton to Bush 43. That wasn't really a $5T surplus, either. It was a $5T surplus estimated out over a decade.

Yeah.....that's kind of how I recall it as well.

On the other hand, the 7+ trillion negative since....is real.

Bush 7 trillion, even counting the spending of Presidents before him. Obama added at least 10 trillion more by himself. I assume you were taught that 10 trillion is a larger number than 7 trillion? Want to tell us again about how much more Bush spent than Obama?

I thought that was the point. That "bean counters" will make the decisions on who gets what treatments. Based on costs/benefits analysis. Thus the term "death panels." What do you think people who are refused treatments determined to be too expensive, would call the "panels?"

I presume you mean by that that Bush 2 added 7 trillion to the debt.

(I'm truly hoping you're not suggesting that)

Takes off, eh?

Snicker.

Apparently I'm not allowed to wonder about drugs. So this post has been edited although to tell the truth I'm not sure exactly whom I was supposedly accusing.

Anyway.... 100,000 people "sign up".

If you bother to read the actual data you find, buried in the fine print, that they don't know how many of these people actually will *purchase* health insurance.

If you read the *really* small print - you find that the insurance companies don't know if the people are even real.

And if you read the really really really small print - you find that half the people signed up were done so with phone, paper applications etc.

Obamacare taking off... yeah.. lets see couple million people have lost insurance. 127,000 have gained it .. over two months. As compared to the 30 million.. oops 7 million target.

Yeah.. and 3 new legal challenges. Popular opinion 2:1 against.

Keep telling yourself that.

I wonder (assuming that this becomes reality) how this will affect the cost of Obamacare..

"A new Gallup poll reveals that 28% of those surveyed have no intention of signing up for health insurance, as required by the Affordable Care Act and will pay the fine instead. "

i want to know how they are going to catch people. will they check everyone in the country to see if they have insurance or just wait until they get sick and fine them at that point cause if they wait they won't be making much money on the fines. i've gone years without needing to see a doc so i am going to wait and see what happens. i also have my taxes figured out so tht they take out what i owe and no more so how are they going to make me pay.

Does anyone know when (like once a year, twice a year, or????) and how long the "open enrollment" period is? Knowing this would be the difference between getting insurance or taking a chance if you enjoy good health.

Open enrollment varies by company. Industry standard is once per year from Oct 1st - Dec 15th. There are group and other exceptions though. Some agencies offer an additional open enrollment period from May 1st - June 15th.
If you get employer insurance, their group plan may have different open enrollment periods so check with your HR rep to find out for sure.

The success of this insurance depends on the young and healthy purchasing it to "subsidize" the old and health challenged. Then the dumb bastard eliminates MORE than half of the young by letting them ride free on their parents plans! (ride free up to age 26) WTF?

From the preliminary info given, there is an open enrollment period somewhere roughly every 4 months?

No, once a year lasting about 10 weeks is industry standard. Group insurance is, generally, also going to be in that Oct 1 - Dec 15 time frame because that's how
accounts are set up. If a new company opens up... say in July.. the 'first' group policy would run through until Dec 31 of that year then the new policy
(and subsequent re-enrolls) would start on Jan 1 and run through the whole year. Any 'new' employee will get their coverage according to their company policy.
That may mean they get insurance immediately through their new company or they may have a 30/60 or even 90 day waiting period before being allowed to enroll.
That's not an 'open' enrollment though.. it's special enrollment due to a life change event (new job).

Well, in once sense its a back door toward single payer.

Under the law, if the pool of subscribers is sicker than expected the US government steps in and makes the insurance companies whole.

Brilliant, eh? Whole, in this case being 3% over median costs.

So. Bottom line: the young are avoiding this program in droves. The insurance companies are cancelling millions as required by the ACA. Net extra cost to federal government looks to me to be about $50 billion dollars. 2013-2014. 2014-2015 the losses will exceed $600 billion.

Of course in a real insurance market his would result in a death spiral. In this case the net result will depend who will win the election. Democrats desperate, will throw any amount of money into obama care to prove it a success.

If the government does not pump money in via the risk corridors then I would expect to see a 20-25% increase in premiums which is now slated after the november elections.

I wonder which part you consider a lie:

The fact that insurance companies are cancelling millions

-- or --
the fact that the regulations written by O'dummo resulted in the cancellation of insurance plans.

If its the former, there nothing much that I or anyone can do for you.
If the latter I direct you to the July 7 2010 federal register when the CBO predicted that the regulations would require the cancellation of insurance policies.

do all companies have "open enrollment" at the same date? Or do different companies have different enrollment dates? If I would take a new job, I have 30-90 days and then insured?
