I push paper for the State government. I work in job application processing....so I get to answer the phone and tell everyone "Don't call us....we'll call you" The ONLY reason I work in this career is because of when I lost my driver's license. Back in the 90s I was a nuclear medicine technologist and I loved it. I have to add my 2 cents to the "childless" discussion. At 48, I never had any kids and I never wanted any. With not having a license, I now think it's the best thing I ever did. I always thought it came from being the youngest in my family because I never grew up around babies and I never babysat. Then I discovered that my oldest sister felt the same way. 25 years ago when I became an aunt for the first time (my brother's child), my oldest sister and I were at the hospital when he was born and we both got to hold him when he was just 2 hours old. A few hours later, sister and I were talking and we both said the exact same thing. We thought for sure that holding this brand new baby....this new life....peacefully sleeping in our arms with his long eyelashes, tiny soft nose and tiny fingers grasping ours.....would get our biological alarm clocks going off. Then we looked at each other, shook our heads and said....."Nope".
