Timber, oil/natural gas deposits in multiple forms, farmland, wide open spaces for development, control of shipping and transit routes, and to fulfill our manifest destiny.

That whiskey is only good for cleaning chrome.

Bah, we already have plenty of that of our own and if we want more Canada usually sells it to us pretty cheap. As for our manifest destiny I've already advocated liberating Canada so we can show them how to make a decent chicken wing.
If it is not our destiny to bring chicken wings to the world then what is our destiny?

I'll bet it really pisses you off that your spell checker says its wrong too...

Butch

I don't need to use a spell checker: that's for Americans and other illiterates.

Really?
Try telling that to anglophones outside of your country who don't have to publish incorrect dictionaries as an act of cultural independence.

Why would we Brits care about standard class English when *we* all speak the first class variety?

Care to quote that to just about every international standard that demands English to be the international language?
Yes... English, with English spellings and English phonetic alphabet - not Americanised.

Every person that wants to pilot any ship going into international waters, any plane that wants to fly international routes - all are required by international law to pass an English standard exam to obtain their license.

The US isn't so dominant as to superceed international English standards!

gonna send you some poutine for that!!!

I won't say no to poutine . . . but I do fail to understand your national obsession with it. I mean, it's good but, you know, it ain't that friggen spectacular.

Look on the bright side, once we have liberated you, you will finally have access to some decent chicken wings without having to cross the border.

yeah right.. ya'll just want our high test beer to go with yer wings! I don't eat chicken so no wings for me.. and poutine is hardly a national obsession.. I have never eaten it and never will.. besides, isn't it awfully fattening?

With all due respect ... IMHO ... it ought to be the other way around. Maybe CANADA ought to annex the US. As a US citizen our social life is so mixed up we would do more damage to them than if they were to assert themselves on to us.

Just my stupid opinion, mind you.

Compromise give them the left coast and New England.
