OK, so I just spent the last 15 minutes or so reading all four pages of this thread.  What I find interesting is the concerted effort by a number of people to deny TreSwank his right to voice his opinion.  The boy doesn't like bad poetry.  So what?  He's not allowed to say he doesn't like it because it might offend someone else?  Well, I find the attempts to shout him down equally offensive, and I don't blame him for going on the offensive when almost everyone else is trying to turn him into Public Enemy #1 just because he voiced an "unpopular" opinion.

Some of you seemed to scoff at the idea that anyone could possibly support his position, simply because the only support he got was private.  Well, I don't like that agonizingly sappy, pseudo-intellectual crap, either.  There... I've said it publicly, and I've got asbestos undies, so flame away.

Oh... and TreSwank?  I can out-crochet you any day.

NO the problem didnt lie in his opinion the problem lie in the fact that he is trying to pass his opinion off as a fact and you know what he can have his own opinion why make a thread about it other then to make others feel bad. He made the thread and opened himself to what he got!!

i think worse than the bad content of a poem is the freaking spelling errors.

Once again, another insult from someone lacking the ability to tear me a new one, verbally.  "You are quite simply an idiot"???  I guess when you've ran out of smart-ass comebacks, you've got to throw something out there to save face.  At least Kedikat was clever, and passionate in his invective.

Hey, if it fits, wear it.  And you're wearing it.  Funny, that's the second time you've reached for 'invective'. Guess you're starting to run out of fifty cent words, huh?  You know what, just about any good writing coach will tell you to keep the language and the idea simple but I guess you haven't gotten to that part in the creative writing class you're obviously taking and practicing here on the boards.  Unlike you, I don't TRY to be clever.  Simple language and a direct approach work best.  So yes, you are, quite simply, an idiot.

I'd love to read your witty response but I'm off to pack for my trip. So until next time...

I think what you've missed is this is not about poetry or the OP voicing his opinion but, rather, the way the OP goes about it.

Yeah, and your little attempt to put me down was oh, so much nicer.

Like I said, I've read every word, and the original post didn't deserve the initial slamming it got.  It may not have been what YOU would have said or done, but who are any of us to tell someone else what they can and cannot say - or HOW to say it?
