No, it doesn't, TH. His reading comprehension is fine. In fact, it's better than most people's, as I'm sure you realise. What's failing here is your standard tactic of casting so much withering scorn on someone's opinion that he shuts up and goes away.

Its fairly well known. I'm surprised you didn't hear about. Go look it up. The guy had taken legal and law enforcement courses as he wanted to be in law enforcement. Its pretty reasonable assumption that after taking those courses and doing well in them, one would have a fair knowledge on how to handle their legal view on the events of that night. What to say to those on the scene, setting up one's story to match the surrounding events in a vague sense. And say it with a straight face....

So by your spin, Joether, anybody who reads the instructions on a 1040 EZ is learning how to cheat on their taxes?

The NRA has the been the organization passing the laws. We have different values. I don't believe in shooting people. I think there are other means to secure one's home, and I don't regard murder as a tool of property/theft defense.

If a masochist's kink is to say incredibly stupid things in hope of getting some abuse, I might be up for a little casual play.

Muse's reading comprehension sucks selectively, Peon. You should have seen him fly off the handle when I mentioned the engineering challenges of a clean energy project he had a hard-on about.

Wild-ass, exagerated, mis-reported, and speculative claims, beyond what the prosecutors have come out with, have littered this thread. The overly emotional participants are flailing widely, unable to grasp that some might see this as a stupid tragedy, rather than the greatest outrage since Pearl Harbor. I found the hysteria funny, and said so. Assuming Muse had read the reports, and read the posts, he'd have noticed the litter. Hell, if it had been conservatives exhibiting the same behaviors on some other topic, he's perfectly capable of snarking harder than I did.

It isn't a complicated thing here, Peon. A stupid kid was robbing a home for kicks, and got himself killed doing it. Sad. Maybe a Darwin Award nominee. Stomping feet, and spinning the rhetoric ever higher, isn't going to alter that fundamental reality at the very root of this killing. Seeing people do it might send me off to get ready for work with a grin, though.

The basic right to defend your home kinda predates the NRA as a whole, Cloudboy, and I think you'll find the laws that absolve residents of criminal and civil liability when they do so have been around longer than the NRA has been a libbie boogeyman. I'm not on their mailing list.

Personally, I like dogs as the first line of home protection, but there is buckshot in the gun, all the same.

No, it isn't complicated here, TH - I agree. A kid was being stupid, just as kids often are. He almost certainly wasn't being anything more than that. The fundamental reality at the root of this killing was that a large swathe, apparently, thinks it was fine that he was gunned down for it. Those people want to whinny and mewl about how they should be respected - as mature, rational, civilised? - regardless. Pfft. Enjoy your little schoolboy grin, TH - it fits you.

No, Peon. There absolutely was more than him being stupid. He was being an intruder in a home. You need to come to terms with that.

Why? They don't have a damn thing to do with this case.

And you need to come to terms with the fact that any kid of 17 could have done the same thing, TH. Even your own kid, or nephew, or friend's child. This is because ... with the best and sternest upbringing in the world, kids do stupid things.

Perhaps the more important thing for you to come to terms with, though, is that you're effectively there, in that garage, smiling approvingly at the gunning down of some silly boy.

Sure thing, Peon, the same way you are effectively smiling approvingly at a woman being raped by a home intruder, in her own bed.

Maybe you find robbing people a funny little game. This stupid little fuck certainly did. Welcome to America. You can get your ass killed doing that here.

Oh give me a break. You just got off saying "It's really funny how the shocked and horrified keep needing to embellish the story to try and force those with an ounce of common sense to say they are shocked and horrified, too." Now you want to embellish the story with one of a potential infinite number of things that this kid *could* have been there to do.

No, I was simply giving you the same logic you applied, when you decided a personal smear was the way to advance your case.

I'm not saying the kid was a rapist. I'm saying the guy who shot him has a legal right to assume that he was.

You're right with that one, Muse. I'm done trying to teach a pig to sing.

So how's life on the farm?

I've been arrested twice as an adult. Both were expunged. I've never had any problems.

the laws and consequences vary state to state.. you may just be lucky where you live or had one of those rare lawyers that are actually good at their job.. some states are pretty ruthless, especially when they have prisons for profits.. some of the jail terms in certain states are outrageous.. And too, if you are white and have a great lawyer that fights hard for you, you will tend to fare a lot better than poor schmucks that get railroaded into plea deals even if they are innocent..

Is it just white people? or rich people?

O.J. Simpson had a lot of money. He was accused of killing someone. Didn't serve a day in jail.

Last I checked, rich people can often afford really good lawyers. Even go so far as to say.....a team of lawyers....like what OJ had!

I said white and rich will tend to fare better, that doesn't mean there aren't exceptions to that.. You obviously have your own ideas on why he was found "innocent" in a criminal court but imo it wasn't so much due to him having money/being well off, it was due to him being a sports hero and also in part, imo some of the jurors were biased in his favor.. but his luck ran out fast.. he was found guilty in the civil suit and he was given a pretty long jail sentence for his last incident.. so yes, he is serving time in jail, just not for the murder.. he got 33 years.. he will be about 70 when he gets out.. he is begging Obama to free him from jail.. (which imo Obama would never do, that would mar his legacy thing)...

For your 'logic' to work, I could read a book about Obiwan Kenboi and become a Jedi Master. There is a difference between reality I'm speaking on and the fantasy your spewing; two totally different concepts.
