I've been off the grid now for about 13 years. My solar panels are doing about 82 percent of what they did when new.

How do you know this?

Which is fine in the summer. In the winter I'm running the generator more often and for longer periods.

Perhaps if you were to add some more pannels you would not have to run your generator so often.

Not to mention the $8,000 I just paid to replace 3,000 pounds of lead acid batteries that I was lucky to get 11 years out of.

This is nothing but a lie.

I have a meter on my power system and I operate my system closely.

Now of course your meter has a log that gives you a look minute by minute because it would not be too productive for you to sit there for 11 years keeping an eye on shit.

Hence, getting things like 11 years out of batteries by knowing how to best operate the system.

Not you nor anyone else is allowed to break the laws of physics

Here is the interesting point. You are trying to prove lying by googling what I tell you and posting it here as if you knew it. What you posted basically is you refuting your own statement about breaking the laws of physics. So I thank you for verifying = opps you're full of shit no matter how much you bluster.

Also, you know, with electronics, having recording meters is like early 1990's technology. So, we see more obsolescence for you. You just don't fathom how ignorant you are. But it's very clear to people who understand what you think you're talking about.

Well, that is an eBay stating price bid amount with no actual bids and it doesn't include shipping six lead acid batteries or a $27 core charge per battery.

So, again, Thompson = opps you're full of shit.

But, Thompson, you pick as many of those up as you can and ship them to me here for $80 and I'll buy the lot.

But, I'm still waiting to hear about your magic bean 45 year life span batteries. I reserve the right to back away from my offer when you finally tell me about your magic bean batteries.

Oh, and a T-105 weighs about 65 pounds. So does anyone know the shipping rate about 400 pounds of lead and sulfuric acid?

Yes, since Thompson is an idiot trying to look all smart at my expense. But I'll stop now until he comes back with his next idiocy.

Maybe you could go hunt up those non-existant jobs bills, speaking of next idiocies. Cuz nobody is expending much.

Well let's see, obviously you went and googled what I was explaining to you and you've quoted that here to look smart. That makes you look very bright.

Golf cart batteries, designed for use in golf carts = 0.58 per AH
L16 batteries, designed for off grid systems. = 0.61 per AH

Which means your cost twice as much = opps you're full of shit.

Golf cart battery energy available to run house = 675 AH
L16 off grid battery energy available to run house = 1305 AH

So, your comparison of the two = you're full of shit.

Would you happen to have any validation for this ignorant insipid opinion?

Still waiting for your magic bean battery information.

You may have some magic bean batterys but I have ups batteries. Google could be your friend here.

Thomson, you didn't really say anything. BTW, trace was bought by xantrex years ago which is now owned by Schneider. That is how obsolete you are.

And yet I still get free electricity every day

Oh, Thompson, as you dig up the name of your magic bean batteries, I'll be content for you to tell me where you get Trojan T-105 golf cart batteries for $80 each. I'll buy all of them at that price and sell them at wholesale price and make enough to retire.

You claim that you can buy a t 105 for .58 per ah.(.58x105=$60.98).Costco otoh sells them for about $80.

If you want something more lasting than marine batteries, get some submarine batteries.
Each battery is about 5 foot tall and is 48 volts. The original design was for the old system Ma Bell used. If you get enough, you can get a 480VDC buss going if you want to relive U-Boat days. <grin>

BTW, old school Ma Bell installations eschewed using inverters as motor generator couples were much more robust and durable. Uncle Sugar went the same direction.

Someone mentioned Chinese solar cells... There is a bill in congress to raise the import tariff on Chinese solar cells so if you want em cheap, better buy soon.

Going solar the Hindi way:
Solar cells on a cellphone tower in the middle of the village.
Laptop computers with a spring loaded windup generator for getting on the net via packet cellular signal.
One company in India even makes a wind up cellphone.
Lamps with shades made of solar cells with NiMh batteries in the base and low current LEDs for light. Sit em outside during a tropic day and you have 5-8 hours of light at night.
Propane powered refrigeration so you don't have to have higher voltage electricity to run a compressor.

Only manufacturing districts have to have a power plant to run heavy machinery.

That is what really going green would be like.

Which should have been done when we backed Solyndra and the nutsackers wanting to see Obama fail, sat with their fingers up their asses while the Chinese dumped solar cells on us in violation of law.
