To me, handwriting isn't cursive...its your handwriting- and I'm all for it. My natural penmanship is "cursiveish"- but not that fascist cursive I learned in school. I am not making my Z's like that ever. EVER! REBEL!

Okay. I'll buy that. So, just to clarify, you actually DO put pen to paper, with letters somewhat connected?? In a Shifty modified version of cursive?

Its my natural penmanship that developed- and I think most folks develop that way. I had issues when I was told I was "doing it wrong" by adults. Over and over...as a dyslexic 7 year old!

UnholyBear................I think I am with you comrade. I use cursive for the first draft of any story I write and for poetry. I use it because I can and I also take pride in it and the way it looks. My son (23) has excellent cursive handwriting and he too takes pride in the fact that he can do it and do it well and he can also baffle the shit out of me with text speak.

I relate to both sides of this discussion. I was taught cursive back in grade school and as I got older, my handwriting evolved into it's own unique style. Sadly over the past 10+ years, it has degraded and that I saw while I was handwriting several many Xmas cards this past weekend. I will not blame computers nor will I blame text messaging. What I do blame is myself for becoming too reliant on computers to write, email or text message and my handwriting has suffered for that. I blame my laziness for not ensuing that my handwriting skills stayed decent instead of looking like chicken scratch.

I am not a "computer calendar" or "to do list app" person- I need that to be written down- so I still write a lot.

I wish I could set my font on my computer to just default to it. ETA- to clarify- I'm fine with however people are happy writing. But they are not better than my generation for knowing cursive- that is my issue. It serves no practical purpose- other than your own satisfaction and happiness. I get so sick of people feeling like my generation is doomed because we use computers and don't write in cursive. I'm literally talking to you all from MILES AND MILES away, computers are amazing and serve a lot more purpose- and are a lot more practical to learn- than cursive.

Interesting topic, just my half a cent on the discussion, something that is most important in our daily interaction with people; but also can be taken a bit further in thought as to aspects of the lifestyle. Words such as please, thank you, you’re welcome, hello, goodbye are common in speech as expressing proper speaking etiquette or vocalizing proper manners. Taking this foundation one step further in the application of submissive or slave’s vernacular is it a protocol of common knowledge etiquette or is it a matter of preference? My personal thought on this subject is that Miss Manners taught us the basics, but the Dom tweaks it to their liking. The manner in which one addresses individuals on a day to day basis in a personal of professional setting such as asking their name or how they wished to be addressed. Speaking mannerly, have you ever thought in chat should I ask how a Dom or Master would prefer to be addressed before you made your own introduction or how they would prefer you to address their subs or slaves by doing politely and respectfully. Another personal thought I had on speaking mannerly is that when one is in doubt as to how to address someone you don’t know treat them as a superior until otherwise known. Speaking mannerly, while it is not a submissive or slaves place to ask why a Dom wishes something; but have you ever thought to yourself how do I ask a Dom a question for clarification on something requested to do the task correctly. How does he wish this to be done appropriately? A final thought to ponder, the proper apology. Have you ever wondered what is the proper manner to apologize to your Dom and his preference as to a formal apology does he want you to included an affirmation in his honor, self humiliation of your offense, or beg for forgiveness, and or presenting oneself for correction? A kind word is a always a better place to start, and maybe in some situation, brightened someone's day.

It depends on how the guy screws up on grammar. But generally, I do prefer men who are eloquent and articulate writers.
