ORIGINAL: ThirdWheelWanted @JAS:Yes, exactly. Thank you for summing that up. I don't know what Lucy or Peon or Polite (etc) do when they're not on CS. The only way I know them is from their words here. And more often then not, all I hear from them is how the US does everything wrong and how if only we'd fix our troubles and become more like the other "civilized" countries..... After a while, it gets damn old. Has it ever occurred to you that the reason for the preponderance of discussions having to do with us....is that this is ,for the most part,a site dominated(lol,no not that way) by Americans.....so we are usually the issue. Now while it might feel good to take the damm furriners to the woodshed for the high crime of commenting on what goes on around here.....all you are doing is exposing your own idiocy and propensity to whine. But please do carry on....life is simpler when the assholes just out themselves Yep. Of course it's because this a mainly US site. Pfft. I'm used to lazy-arsed whines about how we non-Americans look down on Americans. It only ever comes from very right wing Americans who are exactly the sorts who can least stand any criticism of the way their society works - or fails to work - from us foreigners *or* other Americans. It's also based on projection: such people are generally patriotic to a silly level and think everyone from other countries must be the same way. They go around thinking, 'Hey, I *know* America is best. Yet you're saying Britain or Canada or Australia is best? You asshole!'. I've said, before and many times, words to the effect of 'No, you cretin. Criticism of society starts at home. We honed our skills, such as they are, by criticising your own societies; now we're applying them to yours. Get it?' But, no, they don't get it - or pretend they don't get it (as I often suspect) - and carry on the whining. And jeez has that got old.
