ORIGINAL: LiveSpark I agree with you CD - what a surprise. Like you said the site pulls in money from advertising so it's not like the owners are doing it for free. I also don't know whether those people who advertise their services in the Professional Services section pay to advertise but if they don't they should. After all they are posting in order to make money I don't see anything wrong in their paying to do so. Once the site enacts that policy, you'd see a severe up-tick in cleverly worded (or not so cleverly worded) posts in other sections, which would make more work for the moderators, cleaning up the errant posts. I think that once someone lists fin/pro-dom(me) on their profile, it should become a paid account. Then, there's the other issue: When one of these paid accounts decides that they would like to become involved in the community and they make a non-money-searching post ... say in P&R ... but that post violates other TOS rules (Name-calling, black listing, etc.) and they get moderated, their first form of "defense" would be: "Listen, I'm a paying customer and ..." and they'd be partially right. Now, the mods could certainly say: "Rules are rules" and they'd be right but, in the mean time, the site has already become accustomed to a certain level of revenue and if they lose enough "paying customers", they would suffer. Where would they get that revenue from, then? I believe that only charging certain people would be a first step on a very slippery slope that would end with everyone, eventually, having to pay.
