As far as I can see, CS doesn't charge for advertising. All I can see on here is Alt.com and Extreme Restraints which are both affiliate sites.

They do charge for advertising, actually. I've looked into it, to see if maybe it might be worthwhile for a few projects. And I've seen some non-affiliate ads, but not many.

Why can I only see two adverts on this site? both of which are affiliate sites. I can't see any other advertising. Where is it?

If I got in touch with CS and wanted to advertise, I'm sure there would be a payable option for me.

Yep, so you can buy advertising but presently nobody is doing that. I think CS is far better off going with affiliate sites; its just choosing the right product for this marketplace.

Hmm, that is interesting. Typical conversion rates are 10% on the net. Anything over that would be pretty impressive. Thanks Exiled.

There are a lot of advertisers, I think maybe you're just not seeing them because of target marketing but it explains why my journal with a link from an affiliate banner was blocked, but they need a better pseudo reason than "it might be a virus". Wth, it's YOUR ad! LOL.
Also when I logged into my sub under consideration (at the time's) account, I got the attacking Little Shop of Horrors anus ad for the first time. I think they use some form of "smart marketing". MAYBE with keywords in play. It makes sense, simple tweaking of the embed code.

Yes, this.

FetLife can do the same. Show to men only or women, etc.

As I read through this, the general consensus seems to be that companies advertsing goods should pay and professional Doms/subs should pay. There's even a smattering of support for FinDoms paying. But regular members, here with a profile and participating in the forums should not.

I see no reason that there could not be a "Verified Member" class, where CS would match your account to real information for, say, $5/month or whatever. I would pay for that, to show I am real. I don't think it would change much for me, but it might for others.

Also, in that class, a few more bonuses, for example:

- Removing posting time limits on the forums.
- Show first in searches, or highlighted
- Allow Personalized quick replies
- Signature files
- Hidden images that can be shared with selected people
- More images

And so on.

I'm more with CD and I wouldn't pay a single red cent for a site.

The moment CS want to start charging to be a member - I'm out.

Same here. CM/S is fine free but it's nowhere NEAR good enough to be worth paying for.

It is so easy to sort out, I don't have a problem with professionals. The first Domme I ever contacted was through KINKY CONTACTS magazine, and with her it was pay for play only. As a poor student at the time it was not happening.

Where men are concerned the scarcity of Kinky women results in a lot of frustration and projection while providing a lucrative market place for professionals.

Now that I think about it, making people pay for the site just might result in a sort of natural selection that could make the site more enjoyable. After what I've seen on the profile side, I'd never pay for that, but I could see paying for the forum side, even if just to see what effect fees had on the boards. Just a thought.

No way. I like it here, it's fun but not enough for me to pay to post on the forums.

Charging would be exactly what it takes for me to break my CS internet addiction, so perhaps it's not a bad idea at that.

Mine too.

Considering most of the adds here are for affiliate sites, I would of thought the highest number who are presently bringing in revenue to CS is pro Dommes and fin Domme clients.

Lots of vanilla sites offer this kind of premium membership. As you'd expect, only a very very small percentage of people take part in them, because most people don't place much value on the little extras. I am sure it would be the same here. So the fact that someone's membership here wasn't verified wouldn't tell you anything about them.

Having built and run membership sites, I have found that if positioned correctly, with the right price point, I can get 8.3-16.7% of members to participate in a "VIP" membership, with only a 2.1% "burnout rate within the first year.

With numbers like that, CS could make quite a lot. Even with half those numbers.

And I'm not saying that not having the VIP membership would tell you much about a person, but having it could tell you a lot about someone who is serious about being real... or even more serious about making CS into a more custom experience for themselves.

The problem with asking people if they would buy is that people lie. Not on purpose, but because We "like to think" we are one way, when we are not. People on here saying they would not pay may be that type, or, maybe the market who would pay is not active in the fora or in this thread...

Not that it matters. It's all conjecture. I actually believe given the opportunity, I could help CS raise their revenue several hundred thousand dollars a year, without even charging, if they wanted. But it's all academic.

*smiles*
