ORIGINAL: joether "meeting the states work force needs" Last I checked, all those in ROTC serve the US Military....NOT...a single state. That many students do go to UW that live outside the state. For what ever reason, they may not stay in the state after graduating. Others that live in the state, may end up moving elsewhere for careers. So really, the quote Mr. Walker wants is a total lie. You have NEVER checked (so you lie.) And this is a bullshit claim. Oh I lie? And this is based on what exactly? You lack anything in the realm of evidence or facts. What I said is pretty common in any higher level education system. From California to Maine. From Alaska to Florida. Its called 'being educated'. A concept that you are not. That your trying to find an issue with this, to attack me on is lame. Cute, but, lame. Or are you going to tell all of us, that someone graduating from the University of (insert state name here) can never leave the state? Because that is your 'argument' right there. Anyone with a high school diploma could say your 'full of shit'. quote:

Having a well known university brings in business and tax dollars in the form of tourism, sporting events, cultural exposures, and improved educational standards. Boston, MA, for example had well over a 130 universities and colleges located in and nearby. As a result, the city is a thriving area for many different industries and entertainment. If Mr. Walker wnats to reduce UW to a second-rate university like UU (that's University of Utah); I say 'let him'. All the bright and gifted students will just come to Boston! After all, who the hell goes to UU? Sounds like a death sentence..... "tourism, sporting events, cultural exposures" I think that I have found the problem with higher ed. You? Oh this should be good.... quote:
ORIGINAL: Aylee Reduce to a second rate university? "After all, who the hell goes to UU? Sounds like a death sentence....." "Bright and gifted" Your bigotry, elitism, and contempt for the poor and middle class is showing. (And that does not even touch on your disgust of anyone that chooses a trade school.) Contempt for the poor and middle class? Do you even realize I'm the one defending the middle class and poor in discussions? That I was the one arguing in favor of the Affordable Care Act, because it allows small business owners (and their employees) to finally get a fair deal with health insurance policies? Before, many of them simply could not afford it, being to expensive. The ones they could afford, often were very expensive. I know this from having been with the Small Business Administration. Saw it every day from area business owners and their employees. The employee who was good friends of the business owner, got some horrible illness; and the business owner feeling like shit for having no decent way to help them. Or that I enjoy watching the middle class get dumped into the poor sections? Was against the large financial houses foreclosing on families after suckering them to purchase things their financial ability could never afford in the first place. Yeah, that was thanks to Republicans removing several regulations in 2002-2005. That you didnt hear about it, really shows your lack of understanding. I helped in the local food panties around my area. I watched as people walked in. The look on their faces of being dishearten, defeated, and beaten down constantly, was all to common. To put a hand on their should, look them in the eye, and say, "things will get better; for now, do what you can". I'm not perfect, but I do try. You really dont know what you babble about. Yeah, I'm elite, because anyone with a high school diploma could beat you in a discussion. They dont need a college degree. That you dont understand what I posted, really shows your lack of an education. Did you actually go to UU?
