Right....so how far to a trade school would it get if this idiot had a free hand.

You keep intimating some kind of idiocy here, but you offer no evidence of what it is except your own wild imaginings. What would be cut? Do you really believe that there exist no university courses that could be dropped without any tragic impact on higher education?

K.

it is directly plucked from the op-ed piece putz....Change the mission statement and degrade the University if only by inches at a time.

In what way, precisely? What courses would be dropped? Search around in your head. There's a brain cell in there somewhere, and when you find it it will tell you that you don't fucking know (at which point you can inform your mouth).

You know I've got nothing against trade schools, I'm all for public funding to make people more employable. But I do find the anti critical thinking crowd really disturbing.

What's the point, the guy can't figure out that name calling isn't a valid replacement for an argument? Why talk to him, doing so reliably makes threads so toxic that they get shut down?

You have a point Steel....but silence in the face of idiocy only promotes more idiocy.
So I like to attack it when I come across it,and boy do I come across a lot of it around here

Well then, answer the questions I asked. Show us that you know what you're talking about, instead of just entertaining us with your lurid imagination.

You suggest that I spend my time defending an op-ed piece I didn't write ?
You suggest I defend my view that cutting funding for higher education is idiocy ?
If you need me to defend that opinion than whatever money was spent on your education was wasted.

Here's the deal, higher education is a game changer,it spits out better citizens.Citizens who have learned to think critically as opposed to doing nothing and criticizing everything.
Higher education leads to more earning power which leads to more taxes being sent back to the state...so it pays for itself.
Higher education makes for more self reliant citizens, hence less folks on public assistance.....so work with me here,
less assistance= more money to spend on infrastructure and such .

Can I help you anymore or will that do for now ?

Yes, I need you to defend that view. If you think it doesn't require any defense then you are an idiot.

Problem is idiocy and trolling are two different things. Trolling is about a sadist getting their fix in a completely nonconsensual manner. The more you interact with a troll the harder he gets his rocks off.

So by all means if someone has a poorly/misinformed position aka "idiocy" give it a go, you could potentially help them out. But are you seeing a position, any position? You aren't are you?

When it isn't actually about positions dumb smart or otherwise and it's really just about wanking it.....well feeding that does the opposite of good.

Too true.

Choking funds to universities is one of most efficient ways of regressing society. The better the education the better the finished product both as a person and as a productive member of the workforce.

These short-sighted measures don't save any money in the long run, but they do impact disproportionately on the marginalised and working class people, the very people who need it most. No society has a surplus of talent and no society can afford to waste or under-educate whatever talented people it has.

It is height of right wing ideologically driven nonsense to assert that cuts to funding universities will save money. It costs everyone and cost most to those who can afford it least.

From the OP (the very first sentence of it in fact):
"Gov.Walker submitted his biennial budget plan wherein he proposes to cut the University of Wisconsin's state support by 13%"

I have kindly bolded the relevant bit for you as you seemed to have missed it.

worth saying again...

universities on the whole are bloated, salaries and tuitions and non essential programs/people have sky rocketed since the federal government has gotten more into bed with higher education.

a proposed budget cut of 13% is in keeping with fiscal responsibility, not some supposedly nefarious right wing regressive ideal.

He didn't miss it,he doesn't care.
I would hazard a guess that he is done with his education, has no children to worry about and his "conservative" ideology says any and all cuts to the budget are good(cepting of course the federal defense budget, that must be increased yearly to pay for all the new toys )
New thread coming out wherein he can defend another Republican Gov's education cuts.
Guess which Gov....hint; He's an asshole(not much of a hint ,eh?)

I'd say at least the vast majority aren't, I can't actually think of any of the usual conservatives who'd I'd call a troll.
