It's interesting to see some Americans here not circumcised. But it baffles why a modern culture like USA still has prevalent practices on circumcision on male babies.

I never saw a circumcised dick in my life until I had sex with a USA male, and because I am not used to seeing circumcised dick, I really didn't appreciate the look of it.

And I think it's cruel to do that to male babies. It's taking away their right to choose to have skin on or skin off isn't it? All that lame excuses about babies don't feel or remember pain and how it would be more painful IF he decides to do it when he gets older, blah blah blah, doesn't matter, because he didn't have a choice.

Prevention of syphilis and some other STDs. Which was a really big deal before all of the antibiotics. And also to help with hygiene.

The American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claims that "several types of research have documented that male circumcision significantly reduces the risk of men contracting HIV through penile-vaginal sex, as well as lowers the risk of other STDs, penile cancer, and infant urinary tract infection. For female partners, male circumcision reduces the risk of cervical cancer, genital ulceration, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and HPV. Although male circumcision has risks including pain, bleeding, infection, and psychological trauma. Other complications are rare."

And I am not sure how they do it where you are from, but they use pain killers here. It is much more dangerous to do when they are older.

Consent really does not enter into this. Parents have the right of consent for their children. If it was not this way, how could they receive ANY treatment?

But again. . . the health benefits are only for male circumcision. It does not work that way for FGM. That causes health issues.

The USA doesn't have a modern culture, Greta. Not by the standards of the rest of the western world.

If you mean that we are not short, inbred islanders with bad teeth and bad manners, you might have a point

True enough. I don't know about the 'short' thing, but Americans' teeth are legendary. [;)]

To the point: Circumcision was once much more common here in the UK; usually for religious reasons, sometimes for health reasons. Those health reasons came to be seen as somewhat unfounded later on, though.

FR

I'm finding the comments made on nations and their people a bit disturbing around here. Lots of nations and lots of people are insulted and it is all becoming a bit much. Discrimination has no place on the forum.

Thank you

You gotta be kidding me!! For this!? Not like you can ditch a condom and be circumcised and never get STDs ever.

And also to help with hygiene.

If they bath twice a day like I assume regular people do, I don't think there is any hygiene issues, unless they simply want to clean themselves less often, so circumcision aids on not get clogged up in there.

OMG, circumcision prevents cervical cancer? Really interested to know the medical or scientific rationale for that. Again, I think condoms prevents STDs alot more effective than circumcision.

Anybody who has been through any type of surgery knows that EVEN with painkillers, post surgery still hurts like fuck!

But circumcision is not for treatment of any illness, most circumcision done on these babies are not medically necessary. It's really mutilation of body parts. And this is quite extreme, to chop of a whole bunch of skin of a baby boy's most private area. I mean, I'm pissed enough when my mom got my ears pierced when I was a baby, now I got a permanent hole I don't want in my ear. The poor boy may want to keep his flap.

Sanity -> RE: War on women (2/22/2015 7:10:33 AM)

Condoms and bathing twice a day are well and good, but the practice of circumcision was popularized long before people used condoms or practiced good hygiene like modern people do

Even these days men go to war, go hitch hiking, go hunting, go native, go crazy, are just lazy trolls etc... And dont always bathe twice per day

And you know damn well that not everyone uses condoms every time they have sex

If there are health benefits as Aylee has fairly well established, try to just accept that and move on

Lucylastic -> RE: War on women (2/22/2015 7:28:30 AM)

im glad we got that established.

In your own maniacal way, you have stumbled over the truth

Thanks to Aylee its been established that circumcision offers health benefits because it tends to deny certain cultures a nice, warm, wet place to flourish

I think that male circumcision should probably be in Health and Safety as health related issues are the usual reasons cited for the pro and con positions. It does have religious and political issues surrounding it, but no one has discussed those.

FGM presents NO health benefits that have been found.

I expect the practitioners of FGM have a list of fake health benefits for the practice like we do for male circumcision.

so what then, the CDC, was just making this up?

The only incentive for "FGM practitioners" that I have seen documented, is that it denies women the ability to enjoy sexual pleasure

Might add that FGM is literally a severe mutilation in many cases, rather than merely removing a bit of loose skin

Here is a link to the very real CDC Male Circumcision information that Aylee mentioned, wherein the many health benefits of male circumcision are described, complete with a list of 68 referenced studies

I caught a news item on this once. The skin of the foreskin is especially adapted to channel microorganisms straight inside where they can be dealt with ASAP by the immune system. Great, for most microorganisms, but not HIV, of course, since the immune system is exactly what this one 'wants' to attack.

Sanity -> RE: War on women (2/22/2015 9:42:06 AM)

The foreskin tends to rip and tear during sexual intercourse as well, facilitating the entry of different diseases through that compromised skin

Well, presumably it's possible to wash one's dick. That would help.

Do you really think that washing will stop diseases from passing through broken skin?

No, but I wouldn't expect washing to stop diseases being carried into the vagina by male ejaculate, either. On the other hand, I'd imagine that condoms would deal with both problems.

If the male ejaculate isnt diseased due to circumcision thats beneficial. There was never any question that condoms can help. But condoms arent always used.

California passed a law forcing the porn industry to use condoms and the reaction? Move production out of state.

* Circumcision regularly removes a shocking 3/4 of the penis’ sensitivity through the removal of the ridged band, foreskin “lips,” and most often the entire frenulum.

How "quick" does the average non-mutilated woman really want that quickie to be though... [sm=sex.gif]

hot4bondage -> RE: War on women (2/23/2015 7:46:35 AM)

The CDC report seems to overlook the fact that the United States has the highest rate of HIV infection and the highest rate of male circumcision in the industrialized world. Doesn't that directly contradict their findings?

The circumcision debate has been done to death around here over the years, as been discussed time and again the studies showing it to have these magic anti HIV powers were conducted in Africa by christian missionaries, studies conducted by scientists in the first world have a notable history of not showing the same results.
