This story just broke. A SC police officer shoots a guy in the back as he runs away. It was common at one time to shoot a fleeing suspect but it's no longer an accepted practice. http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/07/us/south-carolina-officer-charged-murder/

he claimed he was in fear for his life, to his lawyer THEN the video turned up, OOPTH worse yet...another person is dead because of a lying cop APPARENTLY But at least he(the cop) HAS been charged with murder. It will be interesting to see what happens

Here's the thing sanity....facts and evidence do,in fact ,matter. When this cop's lawyers see the facts and the evidence they will urge their asshole client to plead. So you actually got one thing right(alert the press) their will be no need for a trail.

There won't be a trial putz....put all of the evidence in front of the cop and his lawyer and watch how quick he pleads to a lesser charge. What sort of lesser charge? Disturbing the peace? Litering?

Is promoting the fact that he will be showing the video on his phone. Hannity,while adding the disclaimer that the process(the justice system)must be respected he cannot imagine any scenario which would mitigate from what the video shows.....the cop shooting a fleeing man in the back eight times. So maybe you call into your friend Hannity and caution him to reserve judgement [8\|]

as a related aside to all this---a part of this story is that the man was accosted on a traffic stop for a busted tail light. one of the commentators I read today was lamenting how police departments (given stops like that) are turning into revenue generating agencies and that interactions like this might be more likely as a result.

Most likely charged: Murder in the 2nd: "a non-premeditated killing, resulting from an assault in which death of the victim was a distinct possibility. Second degree murder is different from first degree murder, which is a premeditated, intentional killing or results from a vicious crime such as arson, rape or armed robbery." Yes, when someone raises a loaded gun towards someone else, there is a distinctive possibility of death towards the victim. that's what guns were designed to accomplish. Could be pleased down to Manslaughter in the 2nd (i.e. Involuntary Manslaughter): "Involuntary manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice aforethought, either express or implied. It is distinguished from voluntary manslaughter by the absence of intention. It is normally divided into two categories; constructive manslaughter and criminally negligent manslaughter, both of which involve criminal liability." Both quotes from wikipedia.org. Regardless this guy's only option is to throw himself to the mercy of the court and apologize to the family.

Is this the guy that had a warrant for outstanding child support? Saw it on the local news this morning. Horrible. Cops should all have to wear body cameras.
