He is sueing because the bible has references to homosexuals that he disagrees with. Political correctness gone wrong in my opinion.

I don't see how anyone cannot see this as a first amendment violation.

The guy has no legal standing.

I'd have better luck suing McDonald's for providing "nutritional information" and "calorie counts" because it's obvious fat-shaming.

If only Johnny Cochrane were still alive.

I would suppose he knows this and has another agenda, only using this to accomplish that.

Does it surprise you that there are nuts on both sides of any issue?

Can I sue the publishers of Moby Dick, since it has no women characters and that offends me?

First they came for the Hugos. . .

Sounds like fun to me. I mean, let's face it, the Bible's full of insane horseshit written by looney fruitcakes from 2000 years ago, isn't it? I see no reason why we should respect the nutcase opinions in any given text just because that text is really old.

Regardless, getting all worked up over it is even more insane.

Exactly - I'm with you 1000% for once, lovmuffin. So let's just ditch the whole bearded fruitcake headbanger book entirely, eh?

Come on, Bama. What's the point in defending the Bible these days? There's nothing in it that makes sense. I'm all for defending old relics, but defending the Bible ... that's political correctness gone mad, IMO.

This article is based on a link to Christian Post, which didn't link directly to the article. I only found two other news articles from this, both from 2008.

http://www.christianpost.com/news/gay-man-files-70m-suit-against-bible-publishers-over-homosexual-verses-33219/

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/religion/2008-07-09-gay-bible_N.htm

I could not find any follow ups, but if this suit was filed back in 2008, it surely must have been resolved by now. But I couldn't find any further articles on the subject.

It doesn't need defending other than defending the right to publish it. People (at least in the U.S.) have a right to publish, read and believe in it. So it seems to me it would be a First Amendment issue. The guy is a raving PC lunatic and the lawyer taking his case is a scumbag.

Your problem is you should be with me 1000% more often 😎

Surely the suit was thrown out of court.

Shouldn't this be in the thread "News from the Society for the Perpetually Offended"?
