From the very beginning, when Trump announced he was running for office I often thought of it as a conspiracy theory to get Hillary elected and particularly will be paying attention to whom she endorses as her Vice. One thing I think has been an overwhelming message from the people is that if both sides of the establishment are speaking out against you their has to be a reason.

Is Hilary that much more popular than combover boy, though? The American right's infested with "anybody but Clinton" idiots who'd probably rather vote for Osama bin Laden's corpse if it had an R after its name than Hilary...

I don't think he's going to a great job. I think his only hope at being good is choosing experienced and knowledgeable advisers to surround him.

I remember back when GWB was running, with Cheney as VP. There was a lot of discussion along these lines. I knew several people, including my husband, who voted for Bush simply because he would have Cheney there to advise him.

What I think he is going to do is disrupt both parties and that's a good thing.

Agreed.

It's doubtful that Trump's going to get any advisors of the (for want of a better word) calibre of the shrub's team of his father's erstwhile stooges, though. That dimwitted Alaskan woman is sniffing his arse hoping for the VP nomination even as we speak, isn't she?

The really frightening thing about that is that on a Trump/Palin ticket, she'll be the credible one.

The idea of Trump and Palin at the helm of the USA is making my brain melt. That is a level of madness that, seriously, I find hard to contemplate.

Get used to it, because unless Saunders somehow manages to beat Hilary to the Democrat nomination (I don't think he's dropped out of the race quite yet?), Trump is going to be going head to head with a woman a lot of Americans see as being almost as unelectable as he is. (I think there's about 10% difference between the anybody but Hilary reactionaries and the anybody but Trump "liberals".)
One one level, it's actually quite funny to see the Republicans being forced to reap what they've sewn over twenty or thirty years of dogwhistling, dumbing down their base as heavily as they can, sucking up to vacuous talking heads and driving anybody with a hint of integrity out of the party, but sadly the results could well fuck up a lot more people than just the Republicans. Maybe if the fuckwits had taken the threat posed by a candidate with no ties to their illuminatigoverning bodies who is genuinely stupid enough to take seriously the shite the teabaggers have been spouting to encourage the people their party exists to fuck over to vote for them to the people they wanted to win the nomination, then they wouldn't be in this mess now, would they?
(The really funny about all this, is that any other nomination cycle, Cruz would have been the flaky crypto-fascist freak who embarrassed the party...)

But someone will be elected nevertheless.

And when the general comes, the demographics will favor Hillary (particularly since she will choose a VP that will ease some bad ones). Trump is about zero-dimensional in demographics.

And there is the electoral college (who are the party hacks they have to work with) will eventually call in the chits.

Well, thats what I'm hoping myself, Sport, but there was no way that Gore could lose in 2000, was there? Butthair boy might prove a lasting catastrophe, rather than a gift to the Democrats: just look at the excuses some entities are making for him on this very board.

Just out of interest, what will happen if he doesn't get (I don't think the last poll has been counted yet?) the other ton and a bit votes he needs to get the majority before the big Heffalump Convention? If everybody who hasn't voted yet spoils their ballot papers and denies him the 14hundredandwhatever votes, will he still have to throw a tantrum at the con, or will it be assumed that he's got the nomination as everybody else has dropped out?

If he doesnt have the 1283 or whatever it is (committed), or even if he does, they will hold a vote to determine if he can get the majority on the first round, if not..... it would be much like Cabbage asking fookin UKIP to form a government (and they cant) and they couldnt. Well, select someone else and have a go. rinse lather repeat. Long as Trump has some level of support and no one gains the magic number, its Agincourt.

So, anyone could be nominated (depending on rules) from the floor or from the podium. Willard, Eduardo, Marco, Paul Ryan, anyone. And they vote, and vote, and make deals and smoke cigars and drink whiskey and offer junkets and all sorts of stuff to get a coalition majority.

Regards the other, Bob and Fred his brothers do not own states, so thats not doable, and Hillary is the machine candidate.

Thanks. That's an interesting situation (to the extent that I'm now hoping disgruntled Cruzites and people who fancied another Bush will deface their ballot papers and deny him his majority). If he doesn't get the required lead and the Illuminatiruling elite of the Republican party dig their heels in enough, then somebody else might get the nomination in defiance of all of the drooling fucktards who voted for butthair, then? I'm assuming that would be unprecedented since the Elephant Men started picking their candidates this way?

I dont like him cuz you cant believe anything he says.. he says one thing one day and the next he has done a 180 and says something exactly opposite.. that has been his entire campaign, he doesnt stand for anything.. so you cant trust a damn word he says.. how can anyone vote for someone as flaky as that?

To me politicians who don't say things to win votes don't win votes. There are tons of videos about Hillary's 180 through the years as well. And she's leading the Dems. That's what winning means.
But most importantly, is the politician's motivation in insync with what is best for the country?
US is in debt. Trump wants to get US out of the debt hole. He wants to exit as a historic President who managed to reduce debt. And he will do it.

That motivation may be a new challenge, wanting to make history, it may be for himself.

But his motivations are inline with what the country needs as priority right now. And he has too much of a big ego to let his Presidential ship end up in failure. His gonna produce results.

Here is what he said today about how he will handle the US debt.. basically defaulting on the US debt & rip T-bill buyers off.. omg who will want any US T-bills or US dollars if he becomes Prez? so much for the US dollar being the reserve currency.. I will take Swiss Francs instead, thanks...

"Donald Trump is floating an insane idea that would tank the American economy

Donald Trump has said he will approach financing the US government as if it's one of his failing casinos.

He said on CNBC on Thursday that as president he would find ways to renegotiate the public debt and pay less than 100 cents on the dollar if the economy went bad.

"I've borrowed knowing that you can pay back with discounts," he said. "I would borrow knowing that if the economy crashed, you could make a deal."

Some corporate finance deals really do work like this: You issue risky debt, and the lenders know you might not be able to pay them back in full if something really bad happens. But that kind of debt bears a high interest rate, because the lenders know you might not be able to pay them back in full if something really bad happens.

US Treasury bonds have very low interest rates because investors are extremely confident they will be paid in full, even in poor economic conditions. Trump — by openly saying that he would keep partial payment on the table as an option — could spark a crisis in the Treasury markets if he became president. Investors would cease to see Treasurys as a safe asset, and they would demand higher interest rates in exchange for risk.

Thank you for identifying yourself as a completely partisan hack. I admit to not paying a lot of attention to Bush the Elder's administration. I was in college, and had other things taking priority over that. I "fully woke up" politically in the early 00's. Bush 43 sold us out, imo, and that was the final straw for me and the Republican Party. I've done quite a bit of looking back, and I still don't like everything Bill Clinton stood for, but he did spend his time in the White House in a manner more fitting of a president than anything The Donald will be able to muster.

If you think my speaking the truth makes me a partisan hack then so be it. And if you also think Billary playing footsie in the white house with an intern not to mention chasing pussy every chance he could outside the white house and sexually assaulting several women, then spending a great deal of time covering up his ineptness & illegality's he and shrillary were doing is presidential then you have a lot more waking up to do.

You are speaking "the truth" as you see it through a partisan hack's eyes. That's all.

quote:

Your crystal ball seems to say that Trump doesn't have the balls and won't be presidential and will damage this country but shrillary despite her obviously being a criminal & wanting to continue to steer this country into Communism, your ball gives her a pass.

Survey says?

X Oooh, so sorry. Not the #1 answer.

I think Hillary is one of the worst candidates out there, but The Donald is a close 2nd (or their placing is vice versa). Absolutely horrible candidate. If you've read other stuff I post, you'll see that I'm a Libertarian, and that I truly believe Hillary will be indicted before November.

quote:

I don't think Trump is the ideal candidate but then again there wasn't one and I like anyone with common sense will vote against someone and pick the lesser of two evils because to do otherwise would just be foolish.

Your common sense needs more sense. How are things ever going to change and/or get better if you vote for the lesser of two evils?
