Some drunk is pounding on your door in the middle of the night, ignoring you, and pounds hard enough to break the glass seems to me the textbook definition of a case of "home defense". It's tragic that it was due to the teen being too drunk, but it's a legit shoot.

2nd the police were on the way.
3rd they were still outside, and he couldn't see them yet.

Yeah I was just going to correct that. I didn't want to give my email to the WP to get spammed, so I googled the story and hit on a similar one which did take place at night, but noticed the details didn't match so gave in and gave the WP my email (I hold the OP responsible for the spam I will now get.

So? The guy is supposed to wait until the apparent home invader is in view? Looks to me like you have an odd idea of home defence, seeing as you think the guy should wait for the cops and wait for the intruder to be inside the house and clearly visible before making use of his home defense gun.
Kinda defeats the whole point of having a gun for home defence don't ya think?

No, she expects me to fix her computer for free, tells me a time frame in which she will return, and then does not show up for (as of now) five hours.

She has also been known for borrowing my truck for a "quick" trip to the store that turns into four hours forcing me to cancel an appointment for a ct scan to follow up on the removal of a tumor from a kidney.

You don't seem to understand the law, you can't just shoot someone because they knocked on your door even if they broke the glass.
They were also outside of his home so he was not in imminent danger at the time.

And even better, in about 15 minutes, it will be impossible for me to fix the issue with her car that she was also getting the part for, that got her a ticket last night... i.e a taillight with a short in the socket.

Last night's ticket $85, tonight gonna double if she gets stopped.

They were banging on the door in broad daylight. It was afternoon. The door was locked and they didn't try to enter. The cops were already on the way.

Forcing kids in the 66% of households which don't and likely never will have a gun in the house to learn how to use one anyway might seem like a capital idea for some, I suppose.

Just how does supporting the 2nd amendment make him or anyone wrong? In the situation, he has been charged, he was stupid, the two drunk teenagers were stupid enough to get one of them killed.

Now, if that drunk teenager had gotten behind the wheel and killed someone, probably would not have heard about it, or at least on national news.

But someone fired a gun, and bingo, its all over the national news.

Hey, how about the dozen or so African American Males killed by other African American males in the last 24 hours in gang and drug related crime using guns.

Nothing on the news about them.

How about the five or six teenagers who got drunk and behind the wheel and had accidents that killed themselves and others?

Nope, nothing in the national news.

Was there anything about the white american males or males of any other race than African American who were killed by cops today in the fucking news? And so far cops have killed twice as many white boys than black ones, but we dont see them in the news.

No, what we get in the national news is a story about a 15 year old who got drunk and stupid and a gun owner who was sober and stupid, and thus the problem is guns.

More people die from alcohol and drug related reasons than guns, either in using or committing crimes. More people die from lack of proper medical care in this country than by guns (obama care was supposed to fix it and didnt.) How about the 10 americans who starved to death today, or the 22 US Vets who committed suicide today.

Why the fuck is none of that on the news?

How about the thousands of vets who are homeless?

Nope, not on the news.

No, what is on the national news is story about a kid that got drunk and stupid and got killed.

This may sound callous, and I got the attitude in the military, when someone dies for being stupid (now they have a web page devoted to it) he earned a Darwin award.

We can do something about bad cops.

We can even do something to lower the white on white, black on black, brown on brown crime rates that does not infringe on the bill of rights.

We can do something about lack of medical care, homelessness, starvation and make a dent in suicides.

We cant fix stupid. My personal opinion is the gun owner is guilty of murder, and the kid was guilty of terminal stupidity, and the parents probably need to bone up on a few things.

And before anyone asks if I feel the same way about my kids, well lets put it this way, when my son wanted to enlist, my response was "I will wait for the letter."

When he asked what letter, my reply was "the one telling me my son died because he was stupid."

I am waiting for the local police to basically let me know the same thing. My son has zero common sense. He hops up a car with zero regard for suspension to account for the change in handling, at present he has a Nissan that is so freaking hard to control, my daughter in law refuses to allow my grandson to ride in it.

Also by blaming the 2nd it allows him to charactorize you and me as wide eyed 2nd amendment nuts. And that is the point if everyone who supports something is a nut you don't have to deal with their arguments.
