I never asked a man out in my life.

I have many times! I believe in being pro-active! Especially when I was a teenager. If I like a boy, I go for it all the way! In life, if you like someone, must never have later regrets of any "What Ifs?". I like to find out and know!

Which is perfectly ok. That's just been my way, the way I learned and was comfortable with.
My mama told me a long time ago "don't start anything you don't always plan to do, because it will be expected"
It was good advice. Of course at the time I thought " blah blah blah"
Have I paid for things in marriage? Good God yes. Have I went without what I wanted over what was needed? Yes yes yes.
Now if being a career woman was my thing, and I knew that would have been my big focus, I might have been paying from the get go.
Different strokes for different folks.

I'm very curious as to why you think it's unfortunate? What's your spin on that?

One of the most crap feelings of my life, turning down a woman for a date. Truly bloody hideous and absolutely miserable. I used to bellyache about how women should do the asking, to make things equal .... I don't, now. It feels fucking awful to turn a woman down and I still have *no* idea how to do it well. (Not that it happens every day, mind you - far from it ... but I'll avoid getting into the sort of situation where it might arise like the plague, these days.)

IMO: a woman dominating a man in the sack - easy enough. A woman whacking a bloke up his jacksie with a strap-on - bit of a thing to get your head around, but still doable. I'd venture to suggest that physical acts aren't that important for the average male.

But matters to do with etiquette - much more of a struggle. A *woman* asking *a man* out - still way beyond any role-reversal challenge than any of the aforementioned, for me. Funny, really.

I agree with you peon.
I don't mind being "suggestive", but I want the man, to ask me out /and make the first big move.

I am a Dominant woman, if I approach a man/or submissive first, he probably won't feel as if he has to work as hard to "get" me.
I like to be courted, woed, chased... I want him to crawl, beg, plead.
oops getting carried away
Point is, these days many men suffer from NOT being gallant and chivalrous.
The LAST thing most of them need to feel, especially initially, is to feel over-confident.
People that are over-confident tend not to work as hard.

Often if a woman makes the first move, many men will feel, they don't have to work as hard to get her.

If you want my ass, you better go to work.
If you can't approach me, you don't want me.
The thing is to each their own.
If a woman wants to ask a man out, or into her bed she can.
It's not a big deal.
There is no right or wrong, do whatever floats your boat.

Not true anymore these days.
It depends on the guy.

You know those super shy guys who will never get chicks because they are too shy and always too afraid of rejection to ask any woman out. Those beam at you like, OMG, if you ask them out. And there are some super nice guys in these category.

But I agree different strategies for different type of men. There are certain type of men that gotta be more subtle, more to give him hints that you would be interested IF he asked you out.

Like I said, I don't mind being "suggestive" if I'm interested, but asking a man out first is not for me.
If you like it, go for it.
We are all different.

Haha, one of the guys said to me, "Trust me, I'm very bad company for you! You are a good person, you shouldn't be mixing up with folks like me!"

Lol, I didn't argue, like okay dude! But it didn't turn awkward after that, as I was chill about it, and he became a very good friend, although I was friend zoned.

I would have to say the same thing nowadays. Sorry, but that's how it is.

Not gonna go through the previous eight pages, but I've been on dates where the girl wanted to pay.

I'm not sure if this debunks your theory, or if I'm just an exception due to my rugged manliness..
