"keeping women in the kitchen" greta is a phrase meant to signify the preventing women from living their dreams outside of the traditional role of "women as mothers and housewives."

do you remember some weeks ago the left here had conniptions over mike pence's stated policy of never being alone with a woman in a situation where he might be compromised? you were in on that thread. elements of that thread appeared recently, and lucy commented on how pence's position is no more than an attempt "to keep women in the kitchen" and whats more, apparently, that if one didn't see that, it was due to a lack of understanding of feminism.

go look here:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_5088600/mpage_8/tm.htm

Actually, as I think you're pointing out, it's a great way for feministas (male and female) to talk out of their mouths and their asses, at the same time.

On the one hand, you have predatory pieces of shit like Lauer, Weinstain, Spacey, ... who truly are abusers of women and obviously shouldn't have been allowed in women's presence behind closed doors.

On the other hand, you have a man like Vice President Pence who refuses to be alone, behind closed doors with women so that his reputation can never be impeached. Obviously, he is a misogynist that wants to "keep women in the kitchen".

You can't make this stuff up! They want EVERYTHING to be about "patriarchal oppression" and they'll contort themselves in any way they can (including this oral/anal speech) and hope that no one notices how indefensible their "position" actually is.

Peace,

Michael

it is indeed either that, or just an admission that we clearly don't understand "feminism" where normal rules of logic and striving for philosophical consistency don't apply.

Lucylastic -> RE: NBC Fires Lauer (11/30/2017 10:44:31 AM)

What did I say that was wrong then????
I dont expend energy on her because well, because its her.
Are you claiming I know nothing about that view, and the context and the difference?
Now, You arent worth the energy or time to explain more, however you claim I know nothing about religion and that is bullshit and your ignorance.
oh look my two favourite words. Because they suit my opinion of you.
You seem to be awful upset with me sugar shorts.
taking sniitty shots at me without being able to be intellectually honest really is sad.
If you have a beef with me, take it to me.

Thank you for self-identifying.

You are completely over your head in discussions with crayons. Goldenrod and Burnt Sienna fuck you up all the time, don't they?

No, infact to prove my point, here is one example. This poor lady who works as a production manager in a popular show bacherlorette has to endure daily questions like, "Do you like anal sex? Do you masturbate? How do you groom your vagjayjay?" FROM HER MALE BOSS. (And can you imagine as a woman having to go into HR to repeat to HR to report what her boss said? All these embarrassing questions?)

And then got fired because she was a "prude" and refuses to participate in these questions that her boss felt was necessary for her to answer as part of her job, gawd knows why. Her personal sex life and private part grooming is totally irrelevant to her job as production manager.

The official reason for her firing is that her morals was getting in the way of the show.

Clearly most companies in the US DOES NOT criminalise such things and endorses sexual harassment.

This is all only finally being seen as unacceptable by men now. Look at NBC playing innocent about Matt Lauer all those years too. The only reason why they fire him is they got a source that Variety was gonna write a terrible article about him and his bad sexual conduct which is gonna make NBC look bad for closing an eye to all that is happening. And it's damage control on their part.

I am just glad some kind of revolution is happening, and all these men are getting fired! And you know what? If men were sexually harassed by female bosses, I hope they speak out too and have those women fired. (The big problem here is, I know too many men bragging about sleeping with their female bosses in their younger days when they first started, and it's almost like the same shit as sleeping with their teacher in school days. Like they wear that information like bragging rights and often talk about it rather proudly like a badge of awesomeness!)

Companies can't criminalize anything, Greta. But every company has policies in place to protect them from lawsuits.

Production companies responsible for reality tv shows have been sued multiple times for all sorts of labor violations. It's really no surprise to me that sexual harassment suits are coming up now.

Yup, ad hominem is the only way you know when you know I am right.

You self-identify every time you post.

How many US companies have you worked for?

How many times have you gone through orientations for employment at US companies?

You know nothing about the policies of US companies, yet you continue to spout your nonsense.

I don't have to point out you're wrong. Everyone on here already knows it.

Don't look now, but yellow-orange has a bone to pick with you.

All the cases that are coming to light now disprove what you say. And they are all from US companies. I don't see how this is self-identifying when many women from the US are saying the same that are speaking up right now. It seems like most of these harassment are in the work place and many American women are worried about losing their jobs IF they dare report the incident. It just shows what most US company policy is towards sexual harassment. They think women are just trouble makers in their company when they bring up sexual harassment.

Dude, it's like all over the news now and so many women are speaking up that are US CITIZEN working in US Companies.

Don't try to tell me this does not exist and I am making this shit up. You are ridiculous.

Especially when OP Topic is precisely about a BIG American company who has been enabling sexual harassment for so many years, making their women feel like their job will be jeopardized IF they dare speak up.

What I mean by criminalize is have strict policies to dismiss anybody for inappropriate behaviour.

In the youtube video I posted of this lady and Warner Brothers. Megyn Kelly seem to imply that the contract she signed indemify the company from anything. So literally the company can fire her for being prude and not wanting to put up with sexual harassment and she can't do anything about it. She won't win her lawsuit.

Actually I wish this specific case gets more media attention as it involves another big gun, Warner Brothers. The problem is, the lady involve is not a big gun.

When I was younger I was very flat chested. I worked in a company as the only woman. One day the CEO of the company told me that "you need a sign round your neck saying this side up for rape). Obviously all the men in the office laughed.
Should I Have complained?
Not being a snowflake shy girl, I turned round and said "well I don't have to worry about you considering the size of your tiny dick"" Everyone laughed including the CEO. After that they all knew I would give as good as I got and I was one of the team.

Precisely why all the men who sexually harass women all their lives use the excuse that in the old days, it was perfectly accepted by women. Because women like you accept it. And then they do it to other women who may not be as strong in defending themselves.

Basically you have enabled them to bully the weak. (Although, it was the CEO and who would you complain to? That's the problem! He has all the power to disrespect you and it would your job jeopardize if you complain about it, and not his.)

What you did was stood up to a bully and gain their respect. But the whole point is, bullying is not acceptable at all. Not every victim can stand up to their bully. Especially if they are worried about their job at stake.

Maybe I want to be seen as more than a sex object by both Pence and Lauer. Maybe women want to be taken fucking seriously.

You've been decent ("sort of" in this discussion with me) so I will return the favor:

My argument has nothing to do with Matt Lauer or Vice President Pence seeing you as a "sex object".

My argument has to do with the ease with which lives and careers can be ruined, based upon "anonymous allegations" because of the climate in which we live.

As I pointed out, men are damned if they do assault/harass/molest women (and rightly so), but they're also damned if they refuse to put themselves into a position where accusations can be launched.

In the work place, if I said to you: "That dress looks great on you!" I'd be "guilty" of "harassment". If you said: "Those jeans are nice on you." I'd be laughed out of any room where I tried to 'report" that.

Now, what's to stop you from getting fired (for cause and not by me) and telling a tale, years later about how I "harassed" you? If you and I had never been alone and I had never said that, you'd have a little egg on your face.

But like I said, in today's climate, the professional victims want to have things both ways.

I'm looking to hire four people, right now. IF I hire a woman, do you think with all that's going on, I'd EVER be alone in a room with her? Thanks, I'd rather take a sharp stick in the eye.

JVoV -> RE: NBC Fires Lauer (12/1/2017 12:45:36 AM)

When a man in power refuses to have a private meeting with a woman, that prevents women from holding positions of power that should require such interactions.

Of course, if you have private meetings with a man, but not a woman, that is showing a gender bias, which is illegal in all workplaces, especially within government.

I think that right now is the time for everyone to air out their dirty laundry. It's that point in the ceremony where the minister has said 'Speak now, or forever hold your piece'.

At some point, rule of law will come into play again, and someone bringing up a new accusation from twenty years ago will have to deal with statute of limitations, even in the public eye. So all these people need to hurry up with their salacious memoirs. Because at some point, and I don't think it will be long, the public is just going to say enough. Some of us are pretty much there already.

Next is Geraldo from Fox news.

That dude wrote an ENTIRE book about his own adventures in sexually harassing women! Sheesh! Really shows again, note to DS (the non-daddy one), who claims that companies got these polices. Nope. Geraldo wrote a whole damn confession book proudly sharing on his own adventures with sexually harassing women and nobody was outrage about it back in the old days.

Bette Midler is owed an apology! Big time!

Unfortunately, women ARE the physically weaker sex and her physical safety is at stake.

This "non-equality" part is understandable.

No matter how much equality we want. But if a man wants to attack a woman physically, she loses most of the time.

They just gotta stop penalising women for things that keep them safe.

I don't understand how Pence is afraid to be one on one with women is the equivalent of treating women like sex objects? He is afraid of women being predators and sabotaging his career with sexual harassment accusations. He is a very thorough man, and I really think this specific rule of his is very smart.

I don't think he treats women as sex objects. He is afraid of women accusing him of treating them as sex objects, thus he has his wife there always to prevent such things. This dude has foresight!

Now even if any woman claim sexual harassment on Pence, it'd be like, what? When was he alone with her? Ever?

Greta75 -> RE: NBC Fires Lauer (12/1/2017 3:21:02 AM)

I personally turn down a one on one dinner with my boss too. Even though I was his right hand. I didn't want to hang out with him after work time at all. I just wanted a professional relationship that is just work and nothing but work even if his dinner invitation was genuinely innocent. It was so innocent that his wife also told me that he wants to do something for me. Take me out for dinner. He said it was reward for my long service. But I didn't want to dine with him one on one no matter what. I just don't feel comfortable, he is not my friend. I don't want to be close.

But fortunately, he is not the type who hold it against me or hurt my career progression. I don't want to be alone dining with him. On top of that, he was suggesting the most expensive restaurant in Singapore, which is easily 600bux for two for a meal. Reward for my long years of service apparently, I was already working with him for 9 years then. But this specific boss practice is never be alone in a office with female employee policy, so whenever he had to see a female staff in his office behind close doors. He always ask me to sit in too. So he can't be accused of anything ever.

I think as a woman, we should be allowed to do this and not get penalise for promotions.

People want to scream perfect equality but it will never be perfect. Women will get maternal leave to give birth. Men never gives birth. That affects how things happen at work too.

I mean if your female employee decided she was gonna pop 10 kids within the next 10 years working for you. Then....., there is gonna be alot of special treatment to accommodate her pregnancies. And what is a boss gonna say? That she CANNOT give birth that much?

In Tipper Gore's defense, even though I hated the idea of parental advisory stickers being added to albums back in the day, I do realize that maybe my almost 8 year old self really didn't need to be singing along with Prince to Darling Nikki.

"Knew a girl named Nikki, I guess you could say she was a sex fiend.
Met her in a hotel lobby masturbating with a magazine..."

And even though I saw the film Purple Rain in theaters with my mom, I don't think she ever realized that song was on the soundtrack. In her mind, it was all Let's Go Crazy and When Doves Cry.

No fucking wonder kids of the 80's are so fucking warped.
