But I see that the usual suspects are more than making up for it.[&:]

Usual suspects? Oh, please,  forgive us all for reacting to the bullshit.

What a stupid comment.

KOM is correct, fat threads are a waste of time.

And evidently, so are some fat people.[&:]

And good for you, going to the gym, I am trying to get out of my own rut.

Thanks!  Encouragement helps.  Actually the first time I've EVER been to the gym on a Saturday.  It really helps to a) have a partner who helps motivate me and go with me and b) have a full gym, sauna, large pool, and hot tub a 5 minute walk away in the complex I live- makes it really hard to make excuses then.

BenignPlague -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/12/2006 11:24:43 PM)

It seems that the weight and obesity threads get the most hits and most replies compared to most others.  What does that say about our priorities here?  That people will take the time out of their day to say "I'm fat and proud" or "I love BBWs" or whatever one-liner response it may be?

There are questions about dangerous play, about potential stalkers, about the role of humiliation and objectification and the differences between the two... deeply philosophical questions posted that can shape a person's moral perception of the world around them, and yet, so many people focus on trivial questions of weight.  Is it reflective of certain aspects of self-doubt and lowered self-esteem that we all feel compelled to respond to threads about proportion and appearance?  A thread about "Are you the Perfect Domme" got TONS of hits...

I try to stay positive, and recognize the good things that come from forums, but at the same time, I can't help but notice the directions conversations take.

LeMis -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/12/2006 11:26:51 PM)

A few months back I met a man, 6', 240 lbs. and he looked damn fine, hard body (arms, legs, torso, butt).  He took care of himself, watched what he ate, etc....
He was rock solid,   RAWWWWRRRRRRR.

240 lbs of muscle vs. 240 lbs of fat looks different on a 6' man.

It's interesting to note the lack of denial and defensivness of the overweight men posting here.[;)]
As someone stated..Women have been harassed about weight for more years than not whereas men not so much so...why?..because women are more tolerent for the most part on appearance, that criteria is not the be all end all for women usually...whereas with the majority of men it is all about the "look" and no matter what is said the "look" is a top priority for most of the males. So hence lack of defensiveness and denial is not so surprising..they have not been subject to rejection IMO as often as women who are overweight. Their sense of confidence and attractiveness has not been chiseled away day by day year by year by those of the opposite sex...Face it men are turned on by the visual..women on the verbal..Please remember this is just my opinion..Tempting

Sorry wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.

I am an overweight male.  I have been abused and harassed my entire life.  I have been rejected by women.  Women do reject overweight men to the point those guys give up.  Their form of rejection is to ignore them, treat them as if they don't exist.  The exeption of course is when they are in groups, because they know they will be protected if the guy decides there are limits to the amount of abuse he will cop.

I get harassed and bullied at work.  I have been physically molested at work because of my weight. I get harassed in social situations to the point now that I refuse to go to parties.  I don't even go to the morning teas work puts on because I know I will be harassed about my weight.

I rarely go out Saturday nights because I know that I will be abused by groups of people for the entertainment of women.  That's right, my life is a constant stream of abuse because women put out for assholes.

I get people making comments as I pass by nearly every day.  And that's just what I hear.

For example at a show recently I asked a guy to stop kicking my seat and his girlfriend starts mouthing off about fat guys, but quiet enough so that she could deny it if I turned around and swore at her.  If I had, not one person would have been on my side because everyone believes fat guys have no rights.

My last girlfriend's friends sabotaged the relationship.  She liked fat guys, her friends didn't, so they did everything they could to break us up including making up lies.

No, I'm not bitter, which is what you are thinking so you can live with the lie that fat guys have it good while fat chicks don't.

I've got sympathy for BBW being abused by people on this site.  I have seen it in some of the forums.  Those guys are assholes.  But guess what fat guys deal with that crap everyday too.  Now if you do know guys that don't, bully for you.  I know chicks who don't.  In fact when I see couples out and about 90% of the time it is a BBW with a skinny ass male and not the reverse.

The reason I haven't put a photo on this site is because I know I will cop abuse from strangers as well as I know no matter how charming, funny, profound, whatever, I will be rejected purely because I am fat.

Level -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 5:06:46 AM)

Some general observations...

Men do get shit on for being overweight, they are just generally less sensitive about it. (Hey, sometimes being less sensitive is a good thing! [:D])

Women are not "more tolerant" behind other's backs.

No one, male or female, deserves to be ridiculed for their weight, but at the end of the day, how you react to it is UP TO YOU.

mnottertail -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 5:31:37 AM)

well can we save alotta time bouncing around these threads and talk about overweight doms who like to eat p*ssy?  Kinda do the whole thing in one fell swoop.

sharainks -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 5:54:31 AM)

IMO no one "needs" to be ridiculed for anything about themselves.

What really gets to a lot of women is that we do have certain things like pregnancy that impact our bodies.  With all the hype about exercise I've only known a woman or two who ever ends up looking like she did before that.  It usually changes the body permanently.  Men never have their abdominal muscles pushed out two feet from the inside. (Ok maybe thats exaggerating most of the time)  The breasts are seldom as firm afterwards either. For most women their belly skin never goes back like it was either.  It would be nice as a society if we could recogize those changes as a rite of passage and not insist that the women look like a pin up (most of which are air brushed anyway)

um...rant over I think

Curiously,

It is a frightening concept.

Pimpernell -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 6:29:30 AM)

No we are are not less sensitive.  We just know if we make a fuss we will cop it worse.  No one rushes to defend a fat guy, whereas I have seen plenty of fat chicks defended.  In fact the fat guy is seen as the problem maker for causing a fuss rather than turning the other cheek.

Some guys are less sensitive, in a way, but yeah, you make a valid point. You can see it in real life, you can find it here at CM; a guy opens up, or speaks out about male bashing, and some women respond with "you're whiny" or "lighten up, where's you sense of humor?".

Ah well, assholes come in every shape, size, color, and gender.

zumala -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 6:51:00 AM)

This topic sure does come up a lot.  I can understand overweight people getting upset.  It's NOT easy to lose weight and it sucks major ass when you get sh*t on by everyone because you're overweight.  I topped out at 142 in high school, and for someone my size that's a little on the big side.  I was a size 14 and picked on a lot.

I'm a size 6 now with about 10 pounds and a dress size to go before I reach my 'ideal' of 118 pounds and size 4.  And guess what?  I still don't like my appearance.  Sometimes it isn't the size that matters but the mindset.

Now, that said, I do agree that being overweight is a health risk.  I know when I was heavier I was depressed and lacked energy.  I hated it.  Pup is working to lose 100 pounds because his back can't handle his weight and his dad was recently in the hospital getting quadrupal bypass surgery.  He doesn't want to strain his heart and take more risks than he has to (genetics).  I think those are good reasons to work at it.

I don't go around picking on overweight people, whether they're male or female.  But I won't say that I don't privately have concern for their well-being.  I need an active lifestyle to be happy - that's me.  Others don't feel that way, and I understand that.

Why harp on weight?  Yes, it's a health problem or at least a potential one, but picking on someone never helps.  If you want to bash someone, go after the jackasses that are busy flinging names and hurting people.

Just my $0.02

p.s. - I've just gotten back on the workout band wagon myself as of yesterday.  20 minutes of pilates and every upperbody move I could think of with 5 pound weights.  My muscles are stiff today, LOL.  I'll be giving my upper body a break from the weights and doing the 40 minute pilate workout today.  I'm hoping to see good results by the new year.  Here's to hope!
